Thanks for posting this video. Now I've got something to show friends who have never seen how plowing is done. Myself, I've never seen asyone run with duals on one side and a single tire on the other. Both tractors sound well set up and tuned. I hope and pray that they run forever and that you enjoy making lots more videos.
yep you are correct. this guy may be a tad turned up but its getting plenty of air once the turbo spools up to take care of it. I've run 4 different 806s in my life, a 1206, 1066, 1566, and 2 5088s, and every thing but the 5088s smoke when you first open them up.
OK guys even if that 1456 is turned up it probably isnt running the 210 hp that the 4955 left the factory with, plus 4955 had MFD & weighs at least 6k lbs more so even if the 14 is cranked up it really doesnt have an advantage over the 49 does it? A stock 14 can pull thtat 7 bottom in most soil types.. I pulled a 6-16 with my 1256 in heavy dirt. Darn nice video either way.
Its 5:00am and I am sitting in the city going back to college again. Its late fall and everything is freezing up but this is what I wish I was doing right now. Sigh.
I would not put it past the 1456 to be 210 or more they were about 130 or so stock , I have seen a few DT407's in the trucks that were 210 but they were not stock but they run a P7100 bosh pump on them
Well the 856 has a N/A DT407 , the 1256 it a DT407 turbo ,so I think the 1456 is a 1256 turned up ?, the 806 had 361 's in them and a 1206 is a turbo 361 , There is nothing wrong with smoke from a diesel , When the turbo spools up the smoke should for the most part go away a intercooler would help on the power and smoke some but I have never seen one on any IH that ran a DT series in 1486 and smaller
I love my old ih plow behind fancy green tractors. but if money was no object i would have a khun roll over plow no doubt about it. they picked up where american plows left off. they pull easier and roll the soil better. 2 way plow is the way to go, except for the 40g price tag of a 7 bottom.
I have run a 806 and my 856 and there is not much difference in power the 856 may have a bit more on the bottom end cause of the cid being a bit bigger , My 856 luggs down to a point and it will hang right there for a long time , it will pull the steepest hill on the road near my farm in high gear and not even pull the T/A back there are about 6 other tractors that I have seen go up that hill with out shifting or pulling the T/A back
Well a 806 I ran would pull 5-16 up hill in hard ground no trouble I would like to try my 856 , On our farm we would put 3-16 behind a MF 65 Diesel and it would pull it all day long , A farmer up the road still plows with a Super MD and 4-16 trailer plows
My Dad's old 806 used to pull 6-12s in hay ground so I would have to guess the neither of these tractors would have any real trouble pulling 7s. As to which is better, well the Green one is only about 30 years newer so I would have to believe it would have a bit of an edge just because of the newer tech involved. Personally though I would still go BIG RED all day long in my fields.
matt schrock you know by pointing out the jd has only two bottoms more than the ih you make it the pos anybody that looks at the specs of a 4955 jd and a 1456 ih will know that the jd has more weight bigger motor and this one has six tires pulling so you made the jd the pos
Not to mention that IH workhorse could easily pulled another bottom, maybe 2. My dad farmed with an 806 and had a 6 bottom plow for it. Never had a bit of trouble pulling it either.
Never run a 856 put i dont see why it wouldn't. I've run my 806 in hard ground and it just keeps on a chuggin. Sure I might look like a old coal train at times, but we dont slow down.
That IH couldn’t touch that 49 Deere. The Deere is pulling two more bottoms and isn’t even hazing smoke out of the stack. If it was under a big load it would have some smoke coming out, they could have pushed the Deere way harder than that. We used to pull 5 20s with a 4430 that wasn’t turned up so maybe 140 horse tractor and it did just fine. That IH was smokin like crazy pulling 5 bottoms.
did anyone else notice the green machine had a seven and the red rust bucket had five bottoms, but if your dumb enough to buy a red P.O.S. you probally can't count that high.

That IH is doing a pretty impressive job of matching wits with the 20 years newer Deere which also has a 60 HP advantage plus MFWD .
Nothing New.
Great video nice too see tractors puffing black when they drop the plows
A old red tractor showing JD how to plow. Love it.
That old Farmall gots some suds.
If it ain't red keep it in the shed.
Man, those are two sweet sounding tractors.

Great video! Love the sound of those hard working American Diesels! But I must say, I cringe when I think about the exhaust temp on that old IH.
@Westposse that 5 bottom is just a toy on that 1456. We pull a 5-16 IH 720 plow with our 806 and it smoke about the same and it aint turned up.
Awesome sound 💪💪💪

thats inter should hook another its playing with that plow, good vid
this is the best plowing video on youtube!!
Nice job
5 18s versus 7 16s. Ih killing it
Yeah that's the job of the turbo , More air ,more fuel ,more power , I think my 856 needs to be bumped up it never smokes at all
no thats the stock setting from the factory. Them old IHs are just made to run like that.
this is a truley beutiful site!
❤
The good old dear don't sound like he's pulling it wide open
Yeah I know I was talking engines wise they were about the same , Is Hp and Torque goes up the driveling has to be able to handle it
i think u should put the 7 bottom on the 1456 and the 5 bottom on the 4955 where they belong lol
@UltraVioletSpinner I would say the International has the fuel juiced - most of them were at some point. They could handle loads of fuel.
I would take the green one so I could buy more of the red ones yeeehaww
MONTE CASLER Yeah because John Deere is worth more than the red pieces of shit
Nothing runs like a Queere.

@hank560 granted that the deere has 7 bottoms
plus that 1456 is should be rated at at least 5-16s becasue that is what an 806 was rated for from the factory
Great.
Shit john Deere has always been a few steps behind international I love it when them JD people go to whining lol
Fact
The fuel has to be turned up on that IH with jet black smoke. Turn the fuel up on the 4955 then talk about how good that 1456 is.
😂🤣
I bet green junk has his front wheels lock in need a job done you call in ih tractors to get the job done
My Dad's old 806 used to pull 6-12s in hay ground so I would have to guess the neither of these tractors would have any real trouble pulling 7s. This is true
!
Not to mention that IH workhorse could easily pulled another bottom, maybe 2. My dad farmed with an 806 and had a 6 bottom plow for it. Never had a bit of trouble pulling it either.
then your fuel/air mixture is not the same which gives the tractor that is smoking the advantage.
Never run a 856 put i dont see why it wouldn't. I've run my 806 in hard ground and it just keeps on a chuggin. Sure I might look like a old coal train at times, but we dont slow down.
lets not forget that ih is probably using half the fuel the green one is so while its refueling the red power is still going strong.
old school, why not use reversible ploughs

Put a 5488 beside that Green gutless heap with the same plow and watch what happens
did y'all see that IH put the plow down he was gone the john Deere put the plow down and almost stalled
Robert Jackson Your a fucking idiot. Its more like the rusty pos almost stalled
get that damn deere outa the way
did anyone else notice the green machine had a seven and the red rust bucket had five bottoms, but if your dumb enough to buy a red P.O.S. you probally can't count that high.
Bradyn Thomsen Lol that John Deere could pull the piece of shit back to the junk yard. That ih don’t have nothing on the Deere bitch.
P
International Harvester has won more National pulling titles than all other Manufacturers combined... Nuff Said.
looks like that crap deere needs to get out of the way of a real horse
They got the fuel turned up on a International too much black smoke that proved the fuel turned up
johndeere is much better than IH. I have drove both no comparison. John deere is the best.
Pollution !!!! Very very bad video
