- Did anyone else catch this and have to take a second to process? Considering we've never seen this in game up til this point, I feel like it's way more symbolic than anyone is giving it credit for. But, that's just my opinion. Curious to hear if you noticed it, and what you're reaction was to it...

Warframes aren't corpses. The very first were LIVING people driven insane by the pain of the helminth infection, and the ones we use now are just helminth grown technocyte organs and tissue on mechanical frames. Alad V couldnt describe what they were, and he created a whole new strain of infested (and is likely the most knowledgable of everyone atm when it comes to infested hybrids). Corpses dont need clean atmosphere to sustain life, and arent susceptible to toxic gasses, or radiation (cant destroy lung tissue that isnt functioning, and dna cant be degraded further in a meaningful way due to radiation).
Its best to describe a warframe as nonsentient living armors.

ordis said he would "synthesize" the lotus's briefings. synthesize has specific meanings in warframe. if cy is acknowledging it like this, then these aren't just purple recordings of things lotus said before. purple robo lotus is a synthesized replica entity kind of like simaris's sanctuary pets. which is kind of a weird thing to do.
True. But remember, during the quests, in an attempt to calm us down, Ordis plays recordings of her voice. You're right, it's a weird thing to do, but if Ordis cares about us enough, he'll do weird things in an attempt to help. The Tenno and Ordis have an interesting relationship.

That... makes things so much worse. That is super creepy and makes the New War's theorized choice actually somewhat more conflicting; if this means what it sounds like it means, robo lotus is basically a totally independent, thinking, feeling entity created by Ordis to replace the Lotus. This begs the question... what will happen to it when/if we get Natah back? I have no doubt it will go away, but does that imply we/Ordis deleted it? In effect murdering a sapient being designed from the ground up to love and guide us? Will we hand it over to Simaris, to put in his horrid "Sanctuary" filled with endless war and suffering? Will we just shelf it and forget about it, dooming a helpful innocent to a fate canonically described as so traumatizing and horrific it can destroy one's sense of self? This is way more fucked then I ever wanted such a simple thing to be!

In my headcanon Cy has Lotus on hold, listening to muzak the whole time and just patches her through when the internal ship missions start.
Really doesn't matter if you're right or wrong, you make consistently interesting videos and explain your thought process so that anyone could understand what you mean even if they don't agree.
I mean it's pretty obvious lotus coming back after cy's line

@@CheckeredFist The last cutscene you get by breaking the crystal at the sentient carrier where The lotus is forced to "sing" by her brother who was supposed to be dead, killed by her and her Tenno pretty much spoils the fact that Natah is being used. Even more stuff like the Mother mentioned as being already dead when Lotus thought she was calling for her but it was instead her brother.
So many shady or downright conflicting aspects makes me believe firmly that Lotus will be a victim of a bigger yet simpler plot and we will save her.

i just really hope that we get to choose if we kill her or forgive her. I would be pretty pissed if i was forced to have her back after all this. To be honest i probably would accept her back if she had an explanation that made sense to me, i just want to have the ability to choose.
Cy's line says nothing as to weather lotus will come back or not because you get your railjack after the war within and lotus doesn't leave until a few quests later.

I want to point out another bit, cy says Tenno coordinator, lotus. Grammar says this should be redundant unless there are other coordinators out there (or its a full title) and lotus was just ours
Good catch... Maybe there are other entities like the lotus helmet? Personally hearing cy say this made me forget what I was even doing in the mission...
I was wondering why Cy referred as a tenno coordinator, because when Cy talked about other entities, they were referred with their names, and it should be the case with Lotus, but it doesn't

I'm so excited in my chest right now, this makes total sense now that you shine light upon it. I've heard that line a dozen times and i didn't think twice about it. And Cy doesn't even says "Ordis on the line", or "handing mission", he purposely says "Lotus on the line", and the dev team purposely recorded new voice lines for "Lotus". I hope it means we will somehow discover that purple Lotus is maybe one of those Lotus parts, and she purposely left the helmet for us. Here's to hoping.
I totally agree. I feel like there was a reason they added those lines. Mecha Lotus has been in the game for years and no one has acknowledged her like that. It makes me ask, "why now"?
I think there's an argument to be made that, because players engage with various parts of content at different times, some may reach the end of the narrative quests much later than others, and DE needed a way to bridge that by having Cy toss the ball to Lotus. So it's very possible this doesn't mean much of anything. HOWEVER...a big point of feedback in the community has been to give players a choice of who they want giving mission directives. If New War is as feature rich as we all hope, perhaps one of the features of that quest will be, when Lotus/Natah's story comes to an end (whether we kill her, save her, exile her, or whatever DIFFERENT possibilities hopefully greet us at the end of the quest), we're able to swap between different characters, like Cy or Ordis or Teshin or Darvo or...even cyber Lotus...to continue giving us those mission directives going forward. It'd be more work for their voice recording team, but that'd be an amazing feature to provide players who stick with it for long enough. I mean, the whole "I've played X hours and I finally get to customize my character" feeling after Second Dream is still, to this day, blowing people away. Changing our handler after New War would totally go hand in hand with that.

When I have noticed that line I as thinking this to be a line crafted thinking forward and that we will be getting proper lotus back in the future. When I voiced it at local discord server I was pointed out that people can get to those missions now as soon as they finish archwing quest, so that line could be for them.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuut I'd have never thought myself of connecting this line to Cy actually aknowledging lotus right now.

The message's appearance is determined by random chance, it's an easter egg DE added in the lead up to Second Dream. It translates as a network error message for the Transference system, a cryptic early clue to the true nature of the Warframes.
Technically it's supposed to stop showing up after Second Dream, but it keeps showing up on rare occasions anyways and it's just not worth DE's limited time and manpower to chase down the cause of that minor glitch.
I assumed they still used Lotus
1) For new players who still have her
2) They didn't want to record too many new lines
It would be interesting to see more of Cy/Lotus interaction though, when we see her again
To me it's just weird that they decided to actually say something like they did. Maybe it's something, maybe it's not, but it definitely was a crazy moment, at least to me.
Yea that line from CY bugged me a little, knowing that if we have the railjack and are able to do this mission then we normaly have already been " betrayed ". But not gona lie, you made a pretty good job noticing those paralleles with the Chimera, it's a excellent presentation... i hope DE will at least think a bit about that idea ( if it's not in their plans ).
Isn't is just for the players who are doing railjack before they are doing the story. They don't know that lotus is replaced with Ordis and DE doesn't want to spoil it for them?

Wait a second: If a new player, who does not have completed any of the story quests related to Lotus' transformation, enters the final objective of a railjack mission, then cephalon Cy just gives mission control over to regular Lotus. This means that all of the railjack-related stories in-game happen before the other major story quests. Since DE does not want to change all the dialogues depending on whether or not you have completed a certain quest, they just gave Cy this line regardless of whether we still have Lotus or Holo-Lotus.

This makes so much sense. As you began talking about the goat mind immediately went to goats commonly being used as sacrificial offerings, which you briefly mentioned, but I feel that it should have been slightly more emphasized. Margulis was sacrificed, not only for the sins of the tenno but for going against the orokin by caring for the tenno (if I'm remembering correctly, but there is so much convoluted lore in warframe). So yes she was a scape goat, but I think just her being sacrificed would have worked as well. Overall very well done :) can't wait for the next upload

Or... we already have "her" in the ship, at least as the lotus. Personally though... I think you're right. At some point natah will retake the reigns as the mother to the tenno. Maybe to the sentients as well...
@@TheDsIEGE Hopefully she would then take a more active role in the sol system but that sounds like an after war story line. For now it'll be really interesting to see which side of her stays.
Don't be surprised if the story culminated in a union of the tenno and sentients, especially if she's leading the ship. The orokin were not great people and in the end, they may be the final enemy still. They seem to be coming out of the woodwork recently after not being around for years...
Eeeeh, they did try though. You'll see that on Jupiter very quickly. Or Fortuna. Or Deadlock Protocol and the newest Quest.
This is very interesting and I love the connections you made between the Lotus and a chimera, but I feel like you put more thought into this than DE did.

I'm really glad. I think this game's lore is incredibly rich and worth discussing and yet in some ways, I feel like DE doesn't really put it out there well enough for everyone to fully grasp. But... I suppose that's what I'm for then? I don't know, but I'm glad you enjoy it!
This is a pretty neat theory, and if correct, would go a long way to justifying a lot of the Lotus's retcons over the years as different parts of the overall "Lotus" entity surfacing at different times for different purposes in the story. Looking forward to hearing the rest of what you think about the helmet itself!

Is it possible that the Lotus's mind is fractured? Like Ordis. The different parts of her mind operating independently of each other working towards and using the different factions for each of those minds fragmented goals. I think after Ballas her mind fractured to protect the tenno from her total minds eye and pit her consciousness against its self.

As I understand it, the corpus were a lower class sect of orokin before the fall of their empire, and essentially thrived as their own sect after the orokin were gone.
I think that since the entrati family are responsables for making the heart of Deimos and with it the void powers of the tenno, probably one of them make the lotus helmet, maybe in company of Ballas so he could revive his loved one.
This is for one reason only.
Rising Tide and Call of the Tempestarii can be done after The Second Dream, long before Apostasy Prologue. Just as the Lotus handles all on-ship missions prior to Apostasy Prologue, and Ordis' recreation of her does afterwards - this is DE's way of keeping the quest spoiler free for new players.
As far as I know the interrupting message was part of the tease for The Second Dream. It first appeared the summer before the quest dropped.
that's some good food for thought. i had just been assuming that cy was just allowing us to dream since we had agreed with ordis to use her face in missions. since he was a ship cephalon long before us, he would have seen many crew members needing minor allowances in order to operate at peak performance. (need to be treated harshly in order to do the job or be praised more often in order to not become depressed) but i like the way your idea sounds.

Had anyone ever realized that in the simulacrum Ballroom Gara's posture mimics the devil's statue in real life. I tried to look up if anyone else made that connection but it doesn't seem as if anyone realize it yet.

That Cy to Lotus handoff threw me off big time! While some thought it was DE being "lazy", I though it was a very sneaky hint that I couldn't figure out. Your duality reasoning has me thinking the Lotus is, in fact, separate entities. Natah the confused mimic spy, Marguiles and the actual Lotus (perhaps the girl from the new into who, for some reason, carries Lotus flowers).
Interesting idea, but at the same time this could indicate that before the Lotus betrayed us some events of railjack had her assistance.
Though I don't know for certain how well that lines up, DE also could just have wanted to put their face into the game to make it seem like the Lotus is still an important character on our side given the amount of tenno wanting to stab them through with their Paracesis
Not sure if this was already known or if there are videos out there but that orokin looking flying monster in the duviri paradox, I saw that thing in the veil hyper jump. Again not sure if that was already discussed but felt like mentioning it

The dialog is like that because of story continuity, plexus is rewarded at the archwing quest. So cy would be talking to pre prologue lotus.
Miss the dead operator hints in call of the tempstari, shadow signals sevagoth and sevagoth calls the shadow tenno, as well as shadow calling us enemy tenno.
I think the helmet hold a "cephalon" of margulis. Not exactly like ordis, but with margulis' behaviors and traits.

@@YeloughAnixPriest don't give it to much credit. It was a spur of the moment thing. Another theory I thought of while typing this is that the jade light is what makes the cephalons in the first place.
when i saw Cy's dialog in the mission, i just assumed it was a result of DE not having Cy's voice actor read over dialog that was already in the game. i never thought of the in-game possibilities it could have implied
You should do something with the music! Idk what, but maybe the significance of the songs, who is singing in the main theme, is it the lotus? Or even just the way it impacts gameplay.
Agreed, and I wish I knew having the music slider down would affect this. Normally significant music still plays in cutscenes. I'll try to think something up...

I think he hands off to the Lotus because people can do void storms before doing Sacrifice. Can even have their own railjack without ever doing sacrifice. But then again if the devs had thought it through enough to consider the order of quests, they wouldn't have made this confusing interaction in the first place.

Your content is really good because it's mostly speculation and therefore can be imaginative and not need research. And you still make it look intelligent. (I'm not saying it isnt) but like on the other hand we have game theory who I wrong because they don't do research and they claim so hard that they're right and cannot be wrong
Well... I feel like there's no way to know for certain. I look for patterns. When I see a few things that match up, that's when the research begins. I do my best to use as many references as possible to prove my point, but it's DE's game and they can change things on a dime if they want so... my theories are based mostly on the information we have at that time, and with that, there's always a chance I could be dead wrong, so... I think you should know it's just speculation based on in game data. And it's up to you to take my pieces and maybe even come up with ideas for yourself! Maybe you hit the nail on the head using some of my data. If that happens, then I'm a happy person!
3:37 I think that the pink lotus specter we see after the sacrifice quest can be linked with the moment the tenno asks ordis "I wanna hear her" so...maybe those kind of specters were in fact ordis playing sorts of recordings of the lotus. And since (if I'm not mistaking) cephalons are sort of human mind that have been tranformed in data and reprogramed, it is not shocking at all seeing that interraction with that pink specter
I personally very much agree with your theory about lotus being the chimera, but it's worth noting the footage used was of apostasy. The chimera was likely referencing ballas whose now both orokin and sentient, referencing the dna type of chimera. However that doesn't stop it from referencing lotus as well, as she's in the same mission
I've always wondered where that helmet came from. It doesn't bear any resemblance to anything else we've seen, at least that I know off.
As soon as it was removed we got that transferance static so whoever made it knew of the void and was able to work with it.
I don't know of anyone in any faction who has been able to work with the void in such a way other than Margulis.

Makes me wonder what the other artifacts from various allies and enemies will end up filling similar roles down the road like for example nihil and the glass dimension he inhabits
I think it is because people may be doing railjack without having done the story quests. and since the holo bit is just the standin for those that HAVE done the quest, I think it is just a holdover.

When I interacted with it the "man in the wall" said something about them being watched. Is that new? First I've heard it.
That comes from the war within quest. When we were first dropped into the area Teshin led us to in the caves...
I have been thinking about this topic for a long time now already and with that merciful death Margulis was to face a question comes to my mind... has she taken the Kuva to perhaps be reborn? Perhaps with Ballas's relationship with the sentients at the time he was able to secure a sentient Mimic host for Margulis to occupy after her death, with that being said it would make sense with the personalities being split between Natah and Margulis and the Amalgam variant being Lotus, perhaps it is an internal battle she is facing and with Ballas knowing that providing the Lotus helmet, perhaps the helmet helps the Entity lean towards Margulis/The Lotus we know.

I personally don't think it is impossible that your theory's are correct. I watch your videos because they stimulate my mind and make me think.
You can never be sure but... wow, after I saw that thing with cy, I started looking deeper into exactly what a chimera really represents, because the mission we got, the chimera prologue, really didn't specify why it was called that at all, and it always made me wonder why they called it that. After reading about the symbology behind the chimera, I was like... c'mon... there's got to be some connection there. It's AWFULLY COINCIDENTAL otherwise.
im not sure i understood correctly, but i think u said that part of the lotus is still in the helmet, and i think the helmet was made by orokin to control her and ballas made her take it off so she returned to her past self
Well given the lotus design of the helmet it may have something to with the Dax because there is a set of dax weapons (secondary weapon and melee weapon) plus decorations in lotus design as well what's more intriguing is the color palette for the helmet and the set given to player is almost the same. This may be far fetched but with the beginning of the video, I began to think otherwise because this set if my memory serves correctly was given to Daxs who were going on a RAILJACK mission and Cephalon Cy just acknowledged the Lotus.

That's a good catch right there... and there are quite a few. A lioness and her cubs having similarities, yes I do think that works quite well...
Hmm... while I like the theory and symbolism with the Chimera I'd like to mention that, looking at the wiki, one seems to be able to get to this Quest already after the second Dream and without requiring the War Within and onwards (unless I've missed a Requirement in the chain)...
So Cy handing off to the non-Ordis'd Lotus may be possible in this Quest if doing them in that order and hence I'm unsure where this Quest is in the Timeline of Quests, but spontaneously I'd just sort them at the earliest unlockable "times" if following the "main" Story missions all the way to The new War... So this can be played (and likely likely belongs in the timeline of Quests) before the Sacrifice. It's even void (hehe) of mention of other Void-things coming 'later', no Wally etc, and upgraded Ordis may simply have convinced (or feigned?) Cy to just continue 'as usual' and hand off to the Ordis'd Lotus as before to the non-Ordis'd one.
But yes it is still curious that Cy acknowledges/is handing off to (pre-sacrifice) Lotus.
They still didn't need to say that, regardless. The lotus could have just come on and done what she's done for literally every other mission in the game. I don't think players would be that shocked if cy came on, said what he said sans Handing off to the lotus, and then she came on and explained the mission.
I think it's important to consider the chronological order new players will experience quests. Which DE is taking into account when making railjack, which can be accessed before the new war or second dream: all you need is a dojo right? I don't know I don't want to make a new account to confirm. I noticed this before when doing the Deimos quest: We don't see our operator at any point in that quest, we only see necramechs.
Because of this, I've recognised the fact that we no longer need a transference machine in our orbiter to actually perform transference is unnatural, and I believe that this may mean a stronger connection with the void that may even surpass the requirement of the heart of Deimos. I think that's important because we could probably just destroy the heart of deimos to defeat the man in the wall; in theory at least.
I'm not trying to discount your entire theory, I actually agree that the lotus is essentially a chimera of three different creatures and that we never really found out the function of the helmet(Maybe it helps him co-ordinate all the tenno? Maybe he's been doing that this whole time. It's not like lacks the processing power since fusing with that thingamajig we got in the sacrifice quest that turned him into super ordis.). I just don't think cephalon psy bringing the "lotus" into a railjack mission is that significant.
Edit: Someone in the comments informed me that the lotus we have now is "synthesised." like simaris' specimens in the sanctuary. So I guess my theory about ordis using the helmet to talk to all the other tenno is kaput. Most likely is that synthesised lotus is accessible through the weave by other tenno's cephalons, or by the tenno themselves.
I still think in the New War Trailer when the Mother said :"they tricked you, took away your fire." She is not actually talking about us, she´s talking about Ballas and whatever that Erra is. Because as far as I know, we never took away Natah´s fire, and it seems Erra and Ballas were really interested in the Fire of the Mother Natah possess.

To be fair though, cant you play railjack before playing the quest where you lose 'lotus'? I just assumed that line was in there for people who hadn't played that quest yet.
I wouldn't be surprised if this is something made with the intent of it being visible before Lotus leaves, just like Konzu still has the "Lotus has the commander in her custody", unchanged even after holographic Lotus was introduced, like I don't know if we need to go through quest-line up to Sacrifice to unlock Rising Tide quest, and right now we can even buy ready to go RJ from the marketplace, so I think considering it a clue for something might be a serious stretch
And when it comes to Chimera... I seriously doubt DE were going this deep into symbolism of the original creature with this, I think it was mainly referring to Ballas' slow transformation into Sentient and his current chimeric, transitional state
I don't think that line means anything significant. Thats because the rising tide quest only requires TSD quest to be done, and an available dry dock. (The war within spoilers) : after TSD the lotus is still there, so it makes sense for DE to keep her guiding us so no player will suspect anything. Also, bringing the lotus reminds more of regular missions which is what DE is trying to integrate with railjack.

Personally? I don't think we're gonna kill her. I think we are going to come under her flock again, maybe even allying with the sentients at some point. To me, the orokin are the true evil in Warframe.

As pertaining to Warframe, a chimera could be the original self and void self merging into one being with the other not knowing of the others existence. But we could see the void self when we see characters changing eyes and voice. Maybe the true self is unaware of the void self, but the void self is aware of both existences.
I'm really and I mean REALLY excited for what the whole Lotus lore is becoming, I wish that they do have closure for her because she deserves it.

You can do railjack way before apostasy prologue so I think cy referring to the lotus during these missions is just dialogue DE decided not to change even if you have purple lotus.
Not really relevant to the video, but how do you get your railjack crosshairs to stay locked center? Mine has a lot of wiggle room and is mildly annoying

Also Seige. Here is a theory. Since the Sentients were created before the Zarimon Ten Zero incident. It is possible, that the Sentients during say, an infancy phrase of free themselves before the Old War. That perhaps Margulis was already dead, or physically killed by the Sentients in secret. Due to the wide spread use of kuva for continuity by the Orokin, and the Sentient propensity so use and adapt Orokin systems. The Sentients could have acquired Magulis' soul, using Natch to mimic Margulis, though Hunhows orders or higher Sentient command. Being a mimic Sentient, she could emulate Margulis well enough to fool Ballas and the other Orokin.
With that being said, the Sentients in this infanct planning stage hadn't full perhaps over came some Orokin (will say) restriction protocols to full execute their plan for freedom. And it wasn't till the Zarimon Ten Zero incident happen that their freedom could come to fruition.
This theory would fall under that, Margulis(Natah) goes to bat for the kids. Manipulate Ballas all the while acting as a mother figure to the Tenno, get "killed" by the jade light, supposedly by the executors. Sentients over come some Orokin minor restriction (pre-say) and start the Old War. Due to Ballas being already being manipulated, creates Warframe, using Tenno as control mechanism for said frames against the sentients.
During the war. Natah emerges as Lotus to "guide" Tenno against Sentients. Ballas works with HunHow. Hunhow gives Lotus the "sequence". Sentients plans to feign losing war, allow Lotus us manipulated tenno to "kill" Erra on Lua. Erra escapes with the rest of Sentient numbers to Tau. Lotus directs Tenno to destroy Orokin and Tenno do so. Lotus fails to execute sequence per Hunhow's orders. Could be surmised Magulis's soul could of corrupted/overrides Natah's initial programing. Lotus puts Tenno into cyro to dream instead. Lotus hides the moon, leaves system, or goes dormant. Than start of Warframe begins.
Being that DE isn't forth coming to a coherent timeline. To some points this all makes sense. Granted you could make sense of any odd point with enough thought/theory to it.
In this thoery; it explains
- Natah was able to mimic Magulis than become the Lotus.
- How Erra survived, as well as his line to her about she doesn't remember everything. Despite the flash back.
- How Ballas was manipulated into not only making the Warframes and Tenno but also working with Hunhow.
- Why Ballas states during the Apostasy Prologue, "But of course you are. Imprisoned, just as she was." "I will not abandon you again, Margulis."
- Why Natah/Lotus, hows so much of Margulis' memories.
- Ballas' willingness to work/get cpature by the Sentients and even altered.
We really never known 'when' the Sentients became self-aware, could of been before they went to Tau and not after?
I am just spit balling her but, I always have a feeling the mass manipulate was the key every thing in the warframe lore. Man in the wall, Ballas, Hunhow, Sentients, etc. A lot of little manipulates adding up to a greater on. Anyways. Just a thought.
Wonder what it says for someone who hasnt done this far in the quest line since the only prerequisites are the second dream, deadlock, and owning a railjack
Everyone is overlooking the most curious mystery, the ductape dress Ballas is wearing.
The Helminth in your Orbiter is crazy scared of your Opperator or Drifter.
It won't even open the Door for them.
If you put a Warframe to the door so it opens, and then walk in with your Opperator the Helminth says things like "We fear nothing but the Void demon." Or "Shadows grow within this Deamon."
Might seem a bit of a long shot, but what if Lotus/Natah is trying to "connect the two worlds" (6:47) because she saw there's an even greater threat against which only the combined force of corpus/orokin/tenno and sentients can stand? After all, she disappeared shortly after Chains of Harrow where the Man in the Wall was revealed.
