My 95-year-old grandmother was recently in rehab and now assisted living. You all are saints, truly. My grandmother was awful to her care givers in rehab. I know a lot of it was brought on by disorientation (she’s basically blind now and very hard of hearing), but still… I wouldn’t have blamed one nurse for rolling her out into traffic.
Am currently in a rehab facility. Hands down, the best nurses are female. My favorite two nurses are Jamaican and African.

I've been a CNa for 18 years and this is SO accurate.
Thank you for all you CNAs do, including taking care of loved ones as their health failed. I spent summers in college working as a NA and the work was hard, often unappreciated, and definitely grossly underpaid.

My friend is a nurse who works with old people, and from what I hear this is pretty spot on. Only part missing is how the ones with dementia sometimes attack you but you're not allowed to fight back.
I'm a Nursing assistant, despite the bad moments there is still an indescribable feeling of accomplishment when you make a difference that doesn't get lost on you.
Maya excelled in every sketch on the show. What a national treasure. The message is actually true. Nurses are angels and overworked and under appreciated ☮️😍🍫

Are you really trying to say nurses are underappreciated underneath an SNL skit praising nurses? Overworked sure, but nurses easily have the best pr of anyone in the hospital. Not going to touch on the "angels" comment past a reminder that a job doesn't make someone a good person.
For all the sponge bath and dookie nurses, nurses by day and nurses by night, nurses that are treated like shit by their bosses but still have so much patience and kindness to give-thank you!Yall saved my life and my sanity. Some of the most wonderful people on Earth are nurses.

I found out I have some pretty serious health issues after a six-day hospital stay about 2.5 years ago. The nurses were great.
Had to give an injection 💉 to the thigh of a woman and "Oh wow, look at all of those racist-skinhead-culture tattoos here on your legs! Well, you don't have that specific haircut today, so Nurse Theresa chooses to believe that this is very old ink and you can't do cover-ups. Little pinch.
When one of my grandma's went to the hospital after a really bad UTI (other meds covered the symptoms so it got real bad before being caught) She was out of it for the first day, then I am pretty sure every nurse that dealt with her wished she would go back to that barely conscious state she came in with.
They had my dad, and later me, call her to try and get her to be less awful and cooperate. I don't think they were prepared to hear her tell her grandkid that she just wanted to go home and die. We all thanked the nurses constantly cause we all knew she was a nightmare patient.
(note, it was not the UTI making her awful, the UTI mellowed her out and the odd behaviors they assumed were the UTI were just her)

So my hospital I’m a nurse at, we just finished nurses week and it was awesome. Our managers did something for us each day of the whole week. They even gave us a lawnchair as our nurses gift this year lol. This week was special for me because, I took one of my dying cancer patients outside to enjoy a concert that was organized by my hospital. She was absolutely thrilled to go. The right Nurses have compassion and are fun to be around. It’s a noble profession. I didn’t like that comment at the end, about “choose any other profession”. It was distasteful.

Agreed. I choose nursing as a second career, in my 50s. The nurses I know are almost all extremely caring and passionate about their work. Choose nursing.

This was a good skit. Happy nurses appreciation week to all. Being a nurse is not easy. When Ego's character said if you can do anything do something else she wasn't lying. Being a nurse is a real calling to put up with a lot. This sketch showed the disparity between white nurses and nurses of color
No. Even the uniforms were wrong. The Jamaican nurses are portrayed as PCA's. Nurses don't do the things they were describing with ghe old dude, so the sketch was really off to begin with. In actual real life, there are black nurses and there are white PCAs. This is all BS. And an affront to PCA's, who do way more grunt work than nurses. In the world of this sketch, a nurse would *only* flush & administer his IV and bring his pills. The PCAs do *literally everything* else.
I was starting to think I was the only person who noticed that. Sad but from what I've seen, it's very true.

Wasn’t sure if it was a trainer or a ghost. Still not sure it’s repeating the line, but if it is, I’m more inclined to think it could be an EVP. Guess the only way to know for sure is if someone from the crew says something about it.
For Nurse's appreciation, my boss gave all the nuses on her team cold pizza an hour after our lunch break... maybe they're trying to get us to quit...

I am a psych nurse from state institutions and private but working DD was more difficult than forensic psych.Some need much medical care and others not so much.Thats not funny and its not easy.

This is very accurate. The men in long-term care can get real creative to come up with something so female staff will have to touch their junk. not saying all of them, but even one is still too many.
I had teenage boy patients who would make up bs to need their bits examined. "Turn your head and cough." Punk-a** little s***s tried me with that, all of them. Exactly ONCE.
I could never be a nurse! I really appreciate what they do, though, and have seen a lot of them in recent months. The things they have to do for other people, including me, make me not envy them at all. Same with doctors.

Nurses are badasses…and they really do spend 75% of the time cleaning up poop and being treated poorly by gross, straight men. They need to be paid a ton more! 🙃
Not on Maternity, we don't! Most of the time, the poop is way smaller, many of the males are too young for straight/vs /gay and the grown men are usually quite docile as they're not the patient and very much out of their element.
As a RN, this was so needed to feel sane. 😂🤣😂🤣
