    Living in the USA makes it difficult to understand that the world has moved on. Why must energy producers sacrifice income to save the USA that threatens everybody with green energy and a dire fiscal situation.

    Too much talk of China stealing technology, and not enough realization that China is now a leader in scientific research and innovation.
    China DID demand technology transfers as a condition of allowing foreign companies access to China's market and labour pool. It was - ultimately - a bad deal for Western corporations over the long term, but it was something that they agreed to of their own wills.

    • @Nowhere-from
      @Nowhere-from 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Exactly, in fact claiming China stealing western technology makes me disbelieve Doomberg, despite his claims to read all sorts of sources.
      Yeah, China either stole or legally acquired foreign technology, just like all other countries like Germany, England, the USA and so on. It's just that technology is not a interesting history topic, especially modern one.
      More to the point, it was the western nations who taught China that while tech and industry are crucial for success, stealing and taking all possible abusive advantage is the real key to success. There's no space to elaborate here, but for a better information source I recommend Inside China Business with Kevin Walmsley, a very underrated TH-camr. Another good one is Adrián Díaz, although in Spanish, subtitles not always available. Cyrus Janssen is good too but will come across as biased.

    Russia supplied gas to Europe for many years because it made both Russia and Germany wealthy. Putin moved on Ukraine in Feb 2022 not because Europe seemed weak/dependent, but because Western Ukraine was still targeting Eastern Ukraine's Russians. A coup in 2014 had split east + west Ukraine when it installed a strongly pro-wesrtern president. A civil war began, and intensified, with inflow of US arms, over 10 years.
    Clever + patient tho he may be, I doubt Putin provided gas to Europe solely to make them dependent. How would we react to China's arming Mexican gangs, or forming a defense pact with Canada, Cuba and all of South America? If anyone seems calculating, it is us: It was our peace offerings that helped end the Soviet Union -whereupon we began mucking about in former Soviet countries. Several large guns were planted in said countries -soon after their NATO conversions, so all could be safe from Iran. In this context, Biden's NATO- Ukraine announcement would be the last straw.

    Interesting interview, I’m always interested in Doomberg’s perspective.
    Great info on AI and energy, I think Doomberg is spot on there.
    I do think they overestimate Russia and China a bit … Ukraine/Russia can remain a warzone as long as the US wants it to, Russia’s economy has faced tremendous damage.
    China is certainly good at re-developing tech quickly, but there are extreme limitations to a top-down system such as focusing on government priorities while ignoring everything else and corruption which effects the quality and QC efforts of their companies. Huge Li-On batteries are extreme fire hazards, especially if corners are cut in manufacturing and design.
    Both are certainly threats, but the western world is not doomed to fall behind. Western leadership has been absolutely terrible for a while now, but it can always change for the better.

    • @JamesFitzgerald

      Yes, all that and China is going to grow old before it grows rich. The demographics are awful and few people want to migrate to China.
      The US is the richest and most dynamic economy on the earth and it has the best demographic future. Russia is dying, China is shrinking, India is a mess, and Brasil is corrupt and will remain so as corruption is built into the culture.
      The US will be the last man standing.
