I moved here last summer and LOVE it. Our youngest graduated from a better school district in Chesapeake, so we decided to mover to Ocean View. You really downplayed all the cool restaurants and breweries here: The World of Good, Jessy's Taqueria, Bold Mariner Brewery, Cova Brewery....

Quite a contrast from the 90s when I got stuck (stationed) here. It's a night and day difference from 30 years ago, but there still isn't anything there to do. All residential and still pockets of crime in different areas.

Why is it called ‘Ocean View’ when it’s on the Chesapeake Bay?

I used to live right across little creek rd from Ocean View behind the Food Lion almost 20 years ago. At that time they were just starting to try to improve the area. There were only a couple beach houses/condo's starting to be built. At that time the whole Ocean View area was a ghetto....a really bad place especially at night. Thinking about making a trip down there in the next few months. I'm interested in seeing how different it is.

Paid 300k over 7 years ago and can now sell for over 600k (that price is with a 20% hit to the market when it crashes). Happy with the investment.

I really like Ocean View for the price. There are drawbacks as hopefully I properly outlined in the video, but there's nice value to be had here.

  • @nealammerman6768

Technically, the view isn’t the Ocean.. it’s really the Chesapeake Bay. And there is no place on Bayview Blvd where the Bay can be viewed🤣

Makes no sense to buy a big fancy house right up close to your neighbor. I rather have a tiny house on a larger lot.

I was there this weekend. Discovered this town by accident while looking for rte 64. Love that it's really close to VA Beach yet has it's own beach. I LOVED the beach town feel and cottage like homes. I was definitely worried about it being a flood zone/flood insurance

    • @samsansalone
      @samsansalone  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, I hear you. The flood zone situation is one of the more concerning things people find that cause them to live elsewhere. Glad you like it, though! Cool that you stumbled on Ocean View.

Ocean view is ugly as hell bro , Norfolk in general is ugly . Bums and whatnot and Judy Boone basically owns it . Stay away in my opinion Williamsburg or Yorktown would be better .

Williamsburg and Yorktown is not better than Norfolk or the seven cities area I don't know why y'all are up here spreading this information there's nothing to do in Williamsburg New York town but I can see it's clearly that you're a white person who has an affinity for the woods so maybe those are a better area for you but for most people that wouldn't be a good area for them so stop posting stuff about it did you see what ocean view look like before Judy Boone started to renovate apparently you didn't or you wouldn't have said what you said I'm actually from Norfolk Virginia born and raised

Before Judy Boone it was uglier yea but it’s still not great . How is Williamsburg boring tho , lmao I find this hilarious I don’t even live in the woods 😂.

When was the last time you came to Williamsburg lemme guess , your 5th grade trip to James town lol . Bruh there is plenty to do here . Anyone who grows up in Norfolk moves away lol no one stays and is proud to be there , maybe proud to have come FROM there and is happy where they are now . Great job Sam.
My dad returned from Nam in '72 & we got stationed @ Langley AFB there in Hampton. I graduated '74 from Bethel H.S. & lived in Tide Mill off Armistead Ave. It was a short walk to the Hampton Coliseum where I saw Allman Bros when Duane was alive for $6.50 also front row for Dark Side of the Moon by you know who~!
I worked at Busch Gardens Williamsburg the first 2 years they opened including the Bicentennial year before I took off surfing to Cape Hatteras then got offered a job. OBX living year round 7 years beats the 3 years I lived in Hawaii.
My parents are from Petersburg, Va & I was living there while dad served in Nam. Before I took off the Las Vegas, San Antonio, Tx, Jacksonville, Fla, St Louis, Ill, back to Texas then to Shreveport, La, I had the chance & honor to take part in the Historical Restoration of Sherwood Forest Plantation belonging to ex-President John Tyler on historical route 5. Historical Restorations became my career alongside being a international chef on the Riverwalk of San Antonio & my dream job of being a radio & also a dancing/nightclub/strip club DJ.
Which brings me to really enjoying your channel here now that I'm back in Richmond/Henrico County. I am going to watch a few more of your videos & relax. Be kind & stay safe~!

I lived there for a few years . It was affordable then, and had a worse rep than it deserved. I walked to the beach and went jogging . Loved it. The Amusement Park was part of my childhood. The Rollercoaster was awesome! If I could move back to Norfolk again, I’d try to live there. Since I lived there in the 80’s, most of those new expensive houses have been built.

I moved to E. Ocean View from CT, signed a lease site unseen. I loved it. Was a cute 1 bedroom apartment right on the beach. Perfect for me and my husband at the time. We got married at the beach down the road and I fell in love with the neighborhood. This was 14 years ago but I’ve been wanting to go back and show my son the first house he came home to. I just googled my old apartment and it’s still there, we only paid $650mo for a beachfront place. I wonder what the rent is now.
