I know of people that use these tires on cars with 600+ whp and they hold up fine even spinning, just not for long periods of times. They get very soft and sticky once you got heat in them. If you are going to run that compound for drifting I would recommend watering down your tires between hard rips to cool them off
Why do you buy super sticky track tires that excel at traction for a spot that requires loosing traction? Buy a tuxedo and evaluate its performance as a wet suit and you will be surprised about that too
Who the f drifts on r compounds. This is a well built tire and undefeated for track days. You ran it hot and then some and this is what you get. I recommend kendas for this style driving
In the video there are many other reasons but this was discovered after my rant and really put a bow on it. It wasn’t a session of drifting, it was maybe 30sec total of wheelspin on a 40°F surface. I’ve run Kendas, Valinos, Dunlops, Falkens, Landsails, Muchomachos etc lol these look cool but that was about it for me For all the compromises I noticed with r888r’s they just didn’t have a justifiable advantage even in their intended use case…
Every guy ever at the hoonigan burn yard ever. Hes just stating that he aint buying those tires anymore, maybe because they dont work for him and his style.
@@boostedzjadventurevlogs4121there just over rated had the same thing happen on a set of fronts drifting. Seems if they get anywhere near 32 degrees and then over heated in anyway they will delaminate
They're track tires. Usually those sets are thrown away after a day at the track. If you can't afford running those tires run the toyo hp 2's. Alot more tread and better tread wear. Also addition to not drifting they need to be warmed up properly on the track before pushing them to their limits, the rubber needs to be warmed up evenly across all those tires or they will delaminate just as the issue you ran in to.
Out of curiosity, how many miles you had? I r888t's don't like to go through a lot of heat and cycles, and will seriously deteriorate if used on a daily car and then afterwards being abused. The heat cycles this Tyre will stand while being 'okay' might only be a couple dozen times!
Temp got too hot. Ive had a bunch of street bike tires that once they peak on their heat cycle if they dont get cooled down they will end up chunking. Especially while drifting or burnouts.
So you know nothing about tires. The r888 will last you one track day at best. As for street use with a factory -2.5 camber maybe 2000 miles. Most sports cars that are rwd or mine get 5k miles out the rear and maybe 8k on the front but I usually replace them together. No sport tires lasts tens of thousands of miles regardless of the rating.

Put your rotors on the right way and it'll all be ok.

Rotor direction doesn't matter. Your welcome. It may cool off more efficiently tho in one way than another. But it wouldn't cause tire issues.

Literaly tires every weekend in my BMW
