Music is emotion and art on many levels, much like a photograph. As a young man the Sex Pistols and this song in particular were both a rallying cry and an ideal. As an old man, I occasionally play this and relish in the truth and emotion that i feel now as i did then. Truly a masterpiece.
The more time goes by the better this sounds. I lived in hope that one day the Daily sport would tell the world that Sid just like Elvis was working in a chippie on Mars."There's life Jim but not as we know it." At 14 years old my whole world came tumbling down on me, on that Friday night announcement of Sids death on news at ten. Totally gutted. 😭
@@rachelmiller3057 yep from the very beginning. And how's this for a laugh, that night of the announcement of Sids death me and one of my sister's were watching news at ten on ITV. Brilliant! The non-pounding start to the song sounds as if Frankenstein took up singing on a lark (and , as such Sid's treatment is supremely compelling all these years later). And when Sid changes gears & applies his tart, punk-take on the song, it's all rocking glory. Say what you will about Sid, he had a caustic take on emerging events and a sly side of humor infusing his musical undertakings...
