Peter F: Most drug addicts feel a lot of pain and medicate to not feel the way they do. The drugs turn on them and turn them into something else. Most drug addicts do not know why they feel the way they do till its to late. Pain, confusion, depression and hurting etc. If drug addicts knew why they feel like that they could work on themselves. I know first hand.

It was just his reality. His own private hell. He was mesmerised by whatever images, thoughts and memories were running through his minds eye.

His mentally disturbed mother damaged him badly. What comes out of you is exactly what is in you. The gross self-abuse of his body says it all. I've known people that have a wonderful loving person deep down in them, but they've been too damaged to ever let that side of them out. Unless they agree to spend a lifetime in therapy and on medications, they're destiny is a dark one.

If someone is being murdered in your same hotel room, how can you not hear any noise or see anything? And knowing how fucked up Sid was, it would not be so surprising if he would kill someone. It hits close to home with myself since I wholly relate and recall the sort of feelings that propel one to fix their gaze at nothing, wanting nothing, and feeling like I've lost everything with no will to keep going. That is why this interview always stuck in my head for a long time. I don't know if Sid ever had a chance considering that on top of everything else, there was no shortage of other punk kids and fans piling on each other to give him free drugs along with his mother more than content to apparently shoot him up a fatal dose in some act of mercy. Sid was a human being and I think a lot of people forget that when they deify him as a punk rock image for T-shirts rather than realizing he was the son of a drug addict mother who didn't even make it past 21.

Everyone who went into the room had seen that he was passed out on a mattress. They even spoke about Nancy having at least $3,000 on her at all times and always dropping 100's everywhere. Sid didn't kill Nancy.
Sid was too messed up to even wake up. In their interview Sid was nodding out from heroine and when Nancy said, "oh no sid!" It shook him out of it and he became concerned for her. He loved her alot.
The night she died he had taken pills and couldn't have woken up.
Plus, when Sid and Nancy would argue, everyone would hear them. That night there was no arguments. Sid woke up and Nancy was dead. The money was gone and the knife that killed her was wiped clean.
Sid would have been covered in blood if he did it and IF he was even the slightest bit coherent to wake up and kill her (which he couldn't have possibly been) then why would he rob (basically himself) and clean the knife?

Sid had the great misfortune of meeting Nancy Spungen. Nancy had a death-wish. She was very mentally disturbed and tricked Sid into falling for her and agreeing to sharing her death wish. Poor Sid was not Nancy's first choice of victim, she first tried to get to Jerry Nolan, and then to Johnny Rotten, before finally entrapping Sid. She re-introduced Sid to heroin and got him hooked which was the vehicle for his death. Their love for each other burned hotter than any flame, but it was a twisted and killing type of love. They fought constantly, and violently. They were matter and anti-matter, doomed to destroy each other.

Yeah, Nancy fucked up punk, for Syd & in general, but it's easy to get caught-up, esp when already wounded. It was a great time to be self-destructive. These kids weren't alone in that respect. It was the perfect pay-back for being robbed at birth. It might destroy u end the end, but boy we sure showed them, didn't we? You know, the I'll kill myself before I'll let u drive me crazy mindset? Punkrock was perfect for that. Doomed by choice isn't always as cut & dry as it seems. Rock in Peace & Blessed be the Broken.

Sid had a sad, sad short life. His mother did not help. She was responsible for his terrible start in life. He had no guidance or help. Poor boy.

Poor Sid. He looks so fragile and broken here....as if he's given up on life. He died way too young.

I don't really like him, but i do respect him. This guy really suffered, he grow up on the street, his parents lefted him, he was a big drug and alcohol addict, the poor boy never had a chance.
Rest in peace, dude, hope you are finally in peace

His downfall was Nancy. Hell, his manager and mates even tried to drive her off to an airport to fly her back to the states. Too bad that didn't work. They knew what Nancy was to Sid. Pure poison.

Some souls are meant to stay young forever. Sid was one of those souls. RIP Sid, you didn't live long enough, but you definitely left your mark on this world.

sid was as old asme now when he died...that's way too soon and it's sad, but I think this was his only way out of the sadness (he tried to kill himself couple of times)...he wasn't the best singer or the best bassist, but even 40 years after his death people remember him and love him

Looks absolutely horrendous for a 21 year old, the drugs really did finish him off. You know nothing at 21 so it's sad that he did not get the help to get out of his turmoil and live longer as if he did I'm sure he'd of been grateful for an extended life.

I've been through that type of addiction, and that darkness was inside me at one point. That feeling of fuck the world, I'd rather be high or dead. Maybe that darkness is still inside me, lying dormant. Either way I hope it never comes up again. Life is so fucking precious. Don't get into drugs please.

I was 6 too. I remember the Anarchy symbol graffiti sprayed on the walls in 1977-79 and the writing Sex Pistols. Geez more than 4 decades have flown by !!!
