- In this video I visit a location I had no prior knowledge of and try to capture some images of one of the most beautiful spots I've ever visited in Japan.
This is Daigoji Temple, Kyoto

Absolutely sublime, the photos are like watercolour paintings. Like somebody else said, there's such a relaxing vibe to this. Can't wait to see the next one! 😊
Ta! Working on the next one now!
Beautiful! There is a kind of zen quality to this video. I really enjoyed it. Thank you.
Thanks! Its an amazing place!
Simply exquisite place and equally exquisite photography. You are so fortunate to be able to visit Japan. Thank you.
Thank you! It was my first time at this temple and I hope it won't be my last. Beautiful location, which is apparently lit-up at night so I'd love to see it like that.
OMG such beauty John. A wonderful video and the soundtrack was fab
Thanks mate!
This was like a very peaceful dream during a good night's sleep. Thanks John, I feel very relaxed now after watching this.
Thanks Robert! Glad you enjoyed it
What an enchanting place for photography John. Some stunning photos.👍👍👍
Thank you! It was beautiful!
Wow as you say amazing colours.
it was amazing!
Great photos, John. I love the one with the lady with the umbrella
Thanks David! I was lucky with those!
Simply amazing John, what a beautiful place
Thanks! Definitely a location i'll be returning to whenever im back in Japan!
Only one thing to say John WOW what a place😊
Thanks Malcolm! It's amazing!
Really enjoyed your presentation. A beautiful location and stunning images.
Thanks Kim. Amazing location. I'm looking forward to returning!
Almost like a film set, John, amazing colours on steroids, seemed to be a lovely calmness around the area, I bet you have a few full cards of images from your trip.
Thanks Douglas. I went with a 5TB external hard drive as I needed to save all the video, audio and stills files separately. Towards the end of the trip I started to worry that I might lose everything if anything happened to that drive so I went out and bought a second drive while I was in Osaka. So, I came back with TWO hard drives of files!
Your style of video really compliments the calm beauty of the Temple John. Really enjoying these Japanese vlogs. Hope there are more to come?
Thanks Garry! Another 5 or 6 at least!
Stunning location, John. Now on the list of potential 2025 visits.
It was incredible! I'll definitely be going back!
That is a truly 'stunning' location and thankfully fairly quiet. Getting a lady in a bonnet and a brolly was just the Japanese pantheon looking down on you.
I'm shooting Harman Phoenix film at the moment, which would have been perfect for the saturated colours and slightly overcast conditions.
Its an amazing location. That wee rain shower just enhanced the colours even more when the sun broke through again.
Rain takes the dust out of the atmosphere. Always run the hot tap/shower for a wee while before hanging up you negatives to dry, so much easier than dustspotting a neg in post. Doesn't work with a memory card though 😐@@JohnMcKennaPhotography
@@iainmc9859 haha i'll keep that in mind!
Top Drawer ....
As always
Thanks! :)
Thanks John, what a breathtaking place. Overall, do you have a favorite between your Ricoh and the Olympus?
Thanks David. I like them both! I think i prefer the colour rendition with the Ricoh and the in body stabilisation is great but I also like the range of micro 4/3rds lenses available for the Olympus so i tend to take both out whenever I'm not using the full frame Canon 5D as they're both great for different reasons!
Hi John, thanks for sharing great photo. May I know how much time required to visit Daigoji and photography at relaxing pace?😊 Seem to be really a big temple😅
Thanks! I was there for around 4hrs but I only visited the lower temple area (Shimo Daigo). I believe there is an upper temple (Kami Daigo) which is also lovely but I didn't get to see it on this trip. If you allow around 4 or 5 hours you should be able to see and photograph all of the places I saw :)
Wow, such a beauty! On which autumn date / period did you visit this location?
Thanks Audrey! I was there on November 25th, 2023. It's a beautiful location!
