    I try a rare 3 image vertical pano in this video!

    Not cheating at all to show your old images on TH-cam. I think its great to look back and see how your photography has changed and progressed 👍Something we should all do.

      @@colinmackenziephotography9009 hope you get some great light. I stayed in the Kenmore Inn a few years ago and had a great time. Some lovely walks around there

    Love the shots from your earlier visit(s). The comparison shows the range of possibilities for the “same” composition. The photos of the falls are fantastic, as always. I especially like the way you pull out the colors. Sorry about the lens cap. The same thing happened to me at Latourelle Falls in Oregon. I also had my lens hood pop off and roll over the edge of the cliff on the rim of Crater Lake! Our little contributions to the scenery!! (Sort of a photographer’s libation to the photography gods!) Thank you, as always for a very enjoyable video. Your style of presentation always has a kind of contemplative/zen feel to it, which I appreciate. Can’t wait to see the next one!

      Thanks James! Sorry to hear about your lens cap / hood!
      I'm working on my next video right now, the most amazing bluebell woods I've ever visited. Hope to have that out sometime soon!

    Love, love LOVE the image you caught as you lost your lens cap John. I hate it when bits fall off! My Kase filter is sitting under the waters at the wailing widow falls.... !! 🥺

      Thanks Sandy! I think ive got some gear floating around the fairy pools on Skye, Devils Pulpit and now Acharn! My kit will be better travelled than me soon!

    If it makes you feel any better, your lens cap will be keeping my Formatt Hitech filter holder company. I dunted the filter holder on the handrail and it pinged off the mounting ring and into the water below 😞

      @JohnMcKennaPhotography  หลายเดือนก่อน

      ouch! Hope there weren't any expensive filters attached? Might be worth an expedition down to the water at some point. Might be a fortune's worth of gear down there!

    PS. I had never heard of a vertical panoramic shot before. Great idea. Is it complicated to do?

    • @JohnMcKennaPhotography
      @JohnMcKennaPhotography  หลายเดือนก่อน

      no, it's surprisingly easy! Same method as for horizontal, try to overlap the images by about 1/3 of a frame. Only issues I've had were when using a wide angle lens then tilting the camera up or down can lead to distortion in the image (so the stitched image can have an odd dumbell shape) Overcome that by cropping the final image to the size and shape you want

    Hi John at the beginning of the video you sounded out of breath so should you consider an electric bike? Your prints look darker than the back of the camera is this done in post processing?

    • @JohnMcKennaPhotography
      @JohnMcKennaPhotography  หลายเดือนก่อน

      it's quite steep at the start of the walk and I was carrying around 25kg of gear!
      When I'm videoing the back of the camera I increase the exposure so that it can be seen in the video. Those aren't the settings I use when I actually take the photograph

    Is that American company still trying to buy up the southern shores of Loch Tay and effectively close it off to other than rich tourists? There was a hell of a hoohar over it a couple of years ago.
    Viewing platforms, another of my pet hates ... it's there to stop stupid people doing stupid things - nope, its there to stop people suing the Council if they fall and hurt themselves. I should know, I'm a stupid person, falling off boulders, face planting in the middle of burns, getting stuck in bogs ... it all adds to the adventure. Case in point, Rumbling Bridge, totally spoilt by viewing platforms that are a slippery wooden deathtrap for most of the year.
    Lens covers ... may as well just throw them away as soon as I buy a lens, for the length of time I manage to retain them. Where are you supposed to tie that little bit of string loop that comes with them ???
    You managed to get the best angle for the vertical pano, easier without that damned viewing platform though.

      I think they pretty much own Kenmore and a huge area of land towards Aberfeldy now. Large area outside Kenmore has been flattened and prepared for construction. I saw an ad for some of the properties recently and it gave a hint at the kind of people they're targeting. It listed one of the perks of living there as being "less than half an hour helicopter commute to Edinburgh or Glasgow"...
      The south side of the loch from Kenmore towards Acharn is a LOT more developed than it was when I last stayed in Kemore (Oct 2018)

      @@JohnMcKennaPhotography It really does PMOff; it was bad enough during Coronavirus lockdown that hundreds of miles of deer fencing was put up to replace the standard barbed wire three foot tall stuff to keep the general public out. Reminds me of Trump's grab at land in Aberdeenshire. Which Councilors are getting the 'gift' holiday cottage usage for them and their golfing chums ... or am I just being cynical and anti-capitalist ?
