You always manage to find such beautiful places to visit! I love these long form/streams as it shows places you never normally see. It also gives me ideas for my month long trip which is now October/November 2022. Thanks for the quality content.
Japan does have some awesome shrines and temples. My last Japanese ex had a temple book *the one where you can get the temple block stamp in each page* I have mine in my desk drawer here in China. Awesome places to visit if you're into that.
@@blackneon15 I heard that part of the inspiration for Zelda was the woods that Shigeru Miyamoto would explore around Kyoto as a kid. So it's probably not that far off 🙂
I want to get lost in Japan for a while. That would be fun. Not constrained or stressed by following a schedule and just wandering in a new country fully taking everything in. Thank you for sharing your experiences and making us feel like we are there with you.
I actually wouldn't mind having these types of recordings every once in a while. High quality 1 hr~ish walks of you just talking. Live streams out 'n about can get blurry/pixely, so actually being able to see everything clearly for once is nice.
The café at the entrance to the shrine has some of the best coffee I've ever had and it has a beautiful window view over the pond. There's also a surprising number of realllllly cool cars in Kamakura. I saw a few FD RX7s, SW20 MR2s, some RA Subaru Imprezas and a guy with a Mustang Fastback coming out of the KFC. Kamakura is a super cool place.
If I could live in any country on earth it would be Japan especially rural parts. I feel such a spiritual pull to areas like this. The shrines the narrow back streets and alleys are beyond beautiful. Thanks
This place reminds me a lot of Greece , not surprising considering how similar Greece is to Japan. Apart from the shrines of course. Very beautiful video :)
I didnt even know there is such a wonderful shrine in Kamakura. It looks very mystical - these greenery on the rocks, torii gate stuck to the wall, tunnel. Thank you for showing it to me. I like that you talk with passion and energy.
I just discovered your channel a month ago and have absolutely enjoyed every minute since. I was fortunate enough to take a group of students to Japan for ten days a few years ago and have been dreaming about going back since. Your channel gives me the feeling of being there and exploring with you, which I love. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures!
Truly this channel is becoming one of my favourites. Also nobody really seems to think how much this guy helps the more popular Japan TH-camrs record and such ! You deserve so many more subs your passions and interests in camera and music and much more is so admirable.
.Thank you so much, Norm. I have always been fascinated with Japan since I was a child. As an introverted teenager, exploring side streets and out of the way places was a major entertainment. Thanks to you I got a big serving of both. Hope you found your car without too much trouble.
The recording is beautiful! Thank you for sharing. I explored much of this area (Kamakura) my last trip and never knew about this shrine?! Thank you for sharing!
All I have to say is I am a very happy gal finding more content from you, especially more longer form exploring. Keep up the amazing work...it's keeping me dreaming about getting to Japan *hopefully* next year!
Due to timezones and work scheduling I have a hard time catching your livestreams, but being able to explore Japan with you virtually is something I'll forever be grateful for. So thank you for making the immersion and delight of discovering new places just as fun and exciting, as if I was back in Japan myself, and cheers to the new channel!!
I didn't get a notification that this was premiering! Ah well, only 15 mins late to join. Excited to "go" on this adventure with you. Thanks for sharing! 😊
This is so gorgeous, thank you for sharing it with us. It makes so much difference when you can’t travel to be able to experience beauty through others eyes,
I lived in Urayasu in Chiba Japan while working for Tokyo Disneyland from April 1985 to December 1995 and went to Kamakura many times to see and take visitors to the Daibutsu. I also found ZeniArai Benten to be my favourite Shinto Shrine. I still have the Turtle And Frog Omamori in my wallet. The little figures are a little the worse for wear but I refuse to get rid of them until I can visit again. Thank you for the time you took to do the walk through, it brought back many fond memories.
I love streams/recordings like this because to me it shows a more 'real' side of Japan. It looks like an average day over there but it is just so beautiful. I also watch Rambalac quite often for similar content, though it is nice to have a voice to listen to once in a while.
The complete lack of time keeping and having a plan fall through actually makes this a great video. I really enjoy seeing the small back streets. Also all the tunnels would be great for zombie defense.
OMG What a COOL Video/adventure in Japan! I had things to do BUT I couldn't Stop watching until you were IN the shrine!!!! So Beautiful , I wished so much I was there with you, at 7h00 !
Last 4 minutes is Norm doing his Columbo impression "...just one more thing Ma'am" :-) I really don't care that most of the footage was shot on a GoPro. I just loved every minute of this. Thank you.
Honestly I prefer this being a longer high quality video over a 720 live stream but I understand wanting to connect with fans!! Anything you post always gets a like from me anyways!!
Cheers for taking us through this gorgeous place! Defs gotta add some shrines to the list for the next Japan trip. Glad Truck-kun left without reincarnating anyone...
That walk! I was so anxious the Go Pro would cut out mid-way. But the journey was worth it. What a cool place. It looks and sounds serene. It would be so interesting to know more about the Spirited Away tunnel/home, too.
I'm just a simple guy I see Tokyo Lens new channel, I subscribed I see the shrine, I clicked 🤩 I see the 1-hour video of Tokyo Lens, I clicked the like button 👍🏻 Gotta grab some popcorn to enjoy the 1-hour exploration of beautiful Kamakura 😍 Love the 'bloopers' at the end of the video 😂🤣
You killed me with the Ikea comment 😂 so Fancy. Recently started watching your vids. Love your videos, especially the abandoned places. I really miss Japan and it's great getting to explore places I've never been to through you! Look forward to seeing more!
I love your videos Norm! They have been helping me get my Japan fix until I can make it there again (2020 trip was cancelled like many other people). Your videos help me add to my “Japan bucket list” that just keeps growing!
Ah, good vibes! Tsurugaoka Hachimangu was the first place I went when I visited Kamakura in 2019. Feels a lot better reliving and reminiscing about it when it's not 28 degrees with 90% humidity!
Love these streams. I can have them on in the background, as usually can't catch them live. And just imagine travelling again and making notes about where to go in Japan :)
I didn't get a notification on TH-cam for the live stream (and was passed out all day in migraine episode so I couldn't have watched anyway) and therefore didn't know about this channel until today. The live stream was absolutely gorgeous. I'm looking forward to watching this video as well.
I went to Kamakura and visited the Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gū, but I forgot about the green tunnel to the other shrine. I have to go in summer when I will be back in Tokyo for a week or two. Glad youtube recommended this video again after 2 years.
This is one of my favorite videos of yours! The tunnel is just incredibly beautiful! I hope to visit this shrine one day by myself. Thank you for taking us there!
Such a great way to start my morning. Tea, some light workout while watching you wonder around Japan! Great adventure video! Much love from Arizona ❤️❤️
Sorry it didn’t come out as expected, but still a beautiful walk. It makes me feel envious the cleanliness, organization, and just the beauty of the designs. I wish my area was more like this.
Alrighty, good to see you again Norm. You better believe I’m now going to watch and comment on all your Explore channel videos 😄 Definitely won’T be as crazy as the ~300 videos from regular Tokyo Lens, but it’s more Tokyo Lens goodness in my life. This shrine really fits that mental image most people have of a traditional Japanese shrine, but it’s still absolutely gorgeous. Getting the whole space basically to yourself at times is a stroke of luck!
Yet another place added to the list of must see in person some day. Since discovering your work that list has really ballooned. This is not a complaint
Watching this video gave me so much nostalgia. I felt as though I was walking with you through Kamakura, easily one of my favorite places in Japan. I would LOVE if you did a full video about this shrine on your main channel, as it is my favorite shrine out of my journeys. Kamakura just has such a special feeling too it. Something there is different and I miss it. Thanks so much for the great video Norm!
I was at that shrine last March. You will meet the kindest people. My friend and I got some dango at a booth and attempted to use our minimal Japanese skills. The lady at the stand was so sweet and smiley and gave us little bird charms. We went and sat in some grass to eat the snack and a family near by saw us. There was a grandpa holding his toddler grandchild and saying little English phases to him and holding the kids hand to wave at us. We again gave a little hajimemashite and and they were so warm and kind that cold morning. They welcomed us to their salmon onigiri. Kamakura was definitely the most amazing part of our trip. The city is filled with incredible shines so make sure to rent a bike and plan a route when you go!!
when you said you will stream at 7am but then you didn't I thought you got lost on the Island or something. glad you are still alive :) - and I'm looking forward for more streams on this channel!!

I am very happy that you introduced me to Kamakura. The video is also very beautiful.
This place is clearly part of Legend of Zelda canon with all the Triforce symbols around
I spent the shrine portion of the video humming the Hyrule town theme!
Zelda had to be inspired from somewhere! :)
@@blackneon15 I heard that part of the inspiration for Zelda was the woods that Shigeru Miyamoto would explore around Kyoto as a kid. So it's probably not that far off 🙂
For someone who can't travel, this is a much appreciated way to experience Japan. Thank you for being our virtual eyes, ears and legs Norm!
I want to get lost in Japan for a while. That would be fun. Not constrained or stressed by following a schedule and just wandering in a new country fully taking everything in.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and making us feel like we are there with you.
Peace and harmony upon tokyo.
stay optimistic, care for each other. Love and light...

"Bad": not a live-stream...
Good: it's in 4K 😎 👌🏻
lol
It’s the positive aspect for me ;)
dude you are the treasure. Going back there just to show us the shrine entrance without the truck that's really cool.
So beautiful and calming before I go to bed and wake up excited for tomorrow mornings livestream it will be my first 😊

40:57 love the birds in the background!
Love the shrine! Thanks for sharing 🙏
This place reminds me a lot of Greece , not surprising considering how similar Greece is to Japan. Apart from the shrines of course. Very beautiful video :)
That was a great promenade. Very picturesque.
I love it when there are too less people and empty places. And this video has it in an abundant amount!!
Great video! Wish I would have known about the shrine when I was in Kamakura. Guess I will need to revisit Kamakura when the borders are open again.
Absolutely gorgeous places. The journey to the shrine is pretty amazing!
I didnt even know there is such a wonderful shrine in Kamakura. It looks very mystical - these greenery on the rocks, torii gate stuck to the wall, tunnel. Thank you for showing it to me. I like that you talk with passion and energy.
10:31 The most complex crossing I’ve ever seen… how do drivers not get distracted and crash lol
Loving this stream, wish to see more content on this channel as well. Hope this one also grew up like your main channel.
That was so fun to be in the chat for the premiere! I will definitely be rewatching this on my big TV to more fully appreciate the gorgeous scenery
You could easily spend a lifetime exploring japan, there are just so many nice places. Thanks for taking us along on your new channel!

Kamakura has always been my favorite place to watch videos from. Such a magical town. Would love to see more :]
I'm now home from work and so excited to watch this. I live vicariously through these and really appreciate them, thank you Norm!
You always find these brilliant places to show us. Thank you.
Love the video. This place is definitely going on my short list of places to visit when Japan opens back up
I love this shrine, it’s awesome with all the extra parts and winding pathes
.Thank you so much, Norm. I have always been fascinated with Japan since I was a child. As an introverted teenager, exploring side streets and out of the way places was a major entertainment. Thanks to you I got a big serving of both.
Hope you found your car without too much trouble.
Thank you for this video Norm. The shrine was fantastic, it was a whole new spiritual experience. And the multiple endings made my day!
The recording is beautiful! Thank you for sharing. I explored much of this area (Kamakura) my last trip and never knew about this shrine?! Thank you for sharing!

Amazing how enjoyable a man with a GoPro can be!!! Really love this video and love your commentary!!!
Fantastic video. You made it, and you MADE IT without the battery dying. Lovely little shrine. Absolutely wonderful to see.
This is so gorgeous, thank you for sharing it with us. It makes so much difference when you can’t travel to be able to experience beauty through others eyes,
Glad you started this channel! Looking forward to more exploring!
That little alcove is officially the coolest place I've seen in Japan!! I can't stop thinking about it

Tokyo Lens is my mental support video and stream maker! when i feel homesick and miss my home Japan, i go here!
Hi Norm!
🍙
Every time I watch this video, fal in love with the feeling of wonder that the traditional spaces of Japan give.
Loving the livestreams! I’ve been struggling to sleep but somehow fell asleep in Osaka and awoke at a beautiful shrine.
Thank you!
The complete lack of time keeping and having a plan fall through actually makes this a great video. I really enjoy seeing the small back streets. Also all the tunnels would be great for zombie defense.
@12:48 on the right, the cafe on the 2nd floor "Banyan Tree cafe" has really good atmosphere and awesome pancakes.
Love,love, loved it!
Greetings from San Juan, Puerto Rico!

Kamakura has such beautiful shrines. I so need to return to Japan some day and explore more of them!
I think I'm in love-this shrine is amazing....just-wow
It is a beautiful area, worth your effort to share thank you
I think this video made my day, and I now know there is a Tokyo lens podcast, which also made my day 👍🏽
Honestly I prefer this being a longer high quality video over a 720 live stream but I understand wanting to connect with fans!! Anything you post always gets a like from me anyways!!
Cheers for taking us through this gorgeous place! Defs gotta add some shrines to the list for the next Japan trip. Glad Truck-kun left without reincarnating anyone...
That opening shot is beautiful, I absolutely love traditional architecture.
The tunnel! The backstreets was even better then what I expected. Lost is a good thing.
Beautiful channel. Keep on making them. Love them.

looks so peaceful... SO nice!
The jinja is so cool!! Thanks aloe for the exploration, Norm. I love ❤️ Japan 🇯🇵 and the only way I get to see Japanese stuff is through TH-cam.
That was a really cool shrine, can't wait to go to Japan again
Definitely adding to places that I need to go! That looks beautiful!
I love the walking podcast feel of this! Can't wait to have more content on this channel. :)

I love your videos Norm! They have been helping me get my Japan fix until I can make it there again (2020 trip was cancelled like many other people). Your videos help me add to my “Japan bucket list” that just keeps growing!
The view, the shrine, your voice, so therapeutic ❤

Enjoying all your walking videos - this one was great! Adding all the lesser-known areas to my "go to" list for when travel opens back up.
