Hey Rob, bit of a physicist here to shed more light on the whole "universe ending in a big crunch" idea. The theory is known as the "Big Crunch" (seriously!) and posits that if the amount of matter in the universe is greater than the power of dark energy (the universe's expansion), then eventually expansion will slow down as gravity overtakes it. This is the theory DC tends to prefer as it can be used to propose a "cyclic universe", known as the "Big Bounce", where another universe is created from the crunch of the previous one. The next theory is the "Heat Death", which posits that if dark energy is bounded, then eventually, every star will fizzle out, every black hole will fade away, and (if protons decay), every atom will eventually decay away. Basically, infinite darkness. Ansem would be proud. The last theory is the "Big Rip", which posits that if dark energy is unbounded, then the universe will continue to expand faster and faster until individual galaxies, star systems, stars, planets, and even atoms will be torn apart by dark energy. The timescales involved here are... incredible.
I feel like DC more or less did what Marvel has been doing wherein the characters remember everything from their first publication until now as well as having infinite parallel universes (not being limited to just 52).
@@oluwadamilola6233 yeah they're still the same characters as when they first appeared. Secret Wars was the closest thing I know of a Crisis-type event in Marvel (they didn't reboot though).
Given Roy Harper will probably be among those who came back to life, and even if Wally doesn’t get his own series (or a Flash Family series), I hope we get a new Titans book with the original Rebirth team and some other fan favorites
I'm honestly hoping that dc does titans academy with the new teen titans and shazam mentoring emiko gen. While we get a titans book focusing on the rebirth titans with hawk and dove.
I dunno. I am a bit more pessimistic. After seeing the first future state issues the only hand their multiverse should fear is my hand... closing the wallet 😉 I am not convinced they will come up with stories that make good use of all this possibilities. But we will see. As always - great video! Thanks!
The great thing about this is the possibilities it opens . First like you said alternate versions interacting and potential stories. The fact that they stated they’ll get glimpses of potential future as and past as things stabilize means they can write stories and see what works some stuff just be a alternate universe and others the set future and past of this main universe characters. They can also introduce characters from other universes too.
How long before they figure out this is just a huge mess and an excuse for not being able to keep up continuity? This seriously sounds like a car crash in slow motion
How so? DC is basically going back and fixing the mess that they created with the original Crisis event while incorporating everything that existed after that failed attempt to fix things.
She got stronger during their fight. as she felt a surge in her power and eventually became stronger than Batmanhattan. that was the explanation of the comic
I sound like a broken record at this point, but I STILL thinks its a wasted potential, not using Clark from the Watchmen Universe. I can see it now. He just holds out his hand and says "You have broken countless universes... YOU WILL NOT BREAK MINE!!!!"
When you think of how difficult it was to make this story conclude in a satisfying way, this is a strong finish. I wish there was a way they could retain the Death Metal character designs for WW, Superman and Batman or give them their own world to play on, though I guess that would defeat the purpose now that they’ve completed their mission. The arc of TBWL was completely unpredictable. I love that he god as far as he got. Taking over like a boss but taking it right to the edge before defeat.

I kinda disagree with this event being "DC Secret Wars", after SW nothing reallly changed in the Marvel universe
Peter parker becoming rich? Dr Doom becoming iron man? Galactus turning into a planet healer? Lmao the main complaint from fans post SW is that they changed too much.
@@ashebull123 not a change in the status quo, just "little things" here and there
@@pipestranger5303 im pretty sure peter becoming rich was a change in a statues quo

I love when he slides in stuff like that. Also yea, gotta cover that greater S1Mil Superman.
Does this mean everyone remembers viciously murdering each other in flash point? Does Clark remember being caged up for decades? Does Bruce remember being shot in crime ally?
I have a lot of questions... this basically means they remember everything within their meta verse? Honestly I’m a little lost cus Manhattan made it seem like golden age Superman was part of the meta verse but that turned out to be the justice society earth correct? Why would earth 1 and earth 2 be part of the same meta verse unless it’s based on publication.
Also shouldn’t this make everyone 100 times more dangerous? It’s like they’ve done 100s of years of metal training.
Does iris remember being white? Does black kid flash have red haired wally’s memories too? LOL I could go on forever with this! Could you answer any of these rob? I have a lot of questions
Looks like you never got your answer. It’s too bad, because I was curious about this too
They only remember stuff from the main continuity, specifically.
In "Crisis on infinite Earths" is an reference to the fact that the hand belongs to Krona. However, it is like the Time Trapper. It's always the person who just fits into the story.

I'm guessing that the "Lurking threat" Diana needs to transcend to defeat is The Empty Hand who has taken over one of the universes.
You're very good at explaining all the thing. Thank you for explaining the things.
As a whole, I didn't like this event, but I really like the message against selfishness, in times like now we should try to be a little bit more like our heroes.

These changes to the Multiverse of DC are interesting, can't wait for more information about these two new centers of the multiverse and the fact that the DC multiverse is no longer 52 universe's but an expanding Multiverse again. Also I wonder what the Presence has in store for Wonder woman she's probably gonna become an abstract of some sort, And Darkseid missing isn't good news but this isn't anything new Darkseid always schemes and tries to find ways to dominate everything.
I'm pretty sure there never was just 52 universes in DC cosmology. The 52 universes was in 1 multiverse of an infinite number of multiverses.
@@TeckNeeX In the main DC Multiverse there were only 52 universes says this in the Multiversal map as well, Now not every Multiverse in the DC Omniverse is like that but for a long time after COIE the main DC Multiverse had 52 main universes

The timescales involved here are... incredible.
I'm so glad that this event is over.
i feel like i've been waiting my whole life for this video
I feel like DC more or less did what Marvel has been doing wherein the characters remember everything from their first publication until now as well as having infinite parallel universes (not being limited to just 52).
Classic strange is still modern, same as thor, they remembered their classic self even though they looks different
@@oluwadamilola6233 yeah they're still the same characters as when they first appeared. Secret Wars was the closest thing I know of a Crisis-type event in Marvel (they didn't reboot though).

Yes i second that
Sounds like the dark multiverse superman explanation would make a good old school rundown. Something you aint done in a while
Given Roy Harper will probably be among those who came back to life, and even if Wally doesn’t get his own series (or a Flash Family series), I hope we get a new Titans book with the original Rebirth team and some other fan favorites
I'm honestly hoping that dc does titans academy with the new teen titans and shazam mentoring emiko gen. While we get a titans book focusing on the rebirth titans with hawk and dove.
Dear golly goodness this was awesome and I’ve been waiting for this for so long
I dunno. I am a bit more pessimistic. After seeing the first future state issues the only hand their multiverse should fear is my hand... closing the wallet 😉 I am not convinced they will come up with stories that make good use of all this possibilities. But we will see. As always - great video! Thanks!
Empty Hand is us 😈
The best part honestly was the dead Alfred saying he missed them all.
Honestly her race Perpetua race is know as The Super celestials. Another name of the Hands
How would they compare to the beings from the Marvel multiverse...
@@dboymax1 I honestly don't know
The great thing about this is the possibilities it opens . First like you said alternate versions interacting and potential stories. The fact that they stated they’ll get glimpses of potential future as and past as things stabilize means they can write stories and see what works some stuff just be a alternate universe and others the set future and past of this main universe characters. They can also introduce characters from other universes too.
Who else thinks that "Elseworld" might be connected to Marvel in someway?
Oh. Ooh. No.

I mean, Silver Suffer Batman appear in Death Metal comic. so....
Elseworlds is a DC imprint. What they're not telling you is that the other center, Elseworld's opposite, is called What If... :)

Dark multiverse superman sounds like a great video.
DC really needs to delve deeper into that character....he’s essentially the cosmic Red Son Superman

I still don’t understand why the quintessence took the heroes like something big and important was going to happen
They were the ones who gave the heroes the anti crisis energy to fight perpetua before death metal started. It was the first battle they lost
Anybody else say “let’s begin” as rob says it in excitement?
And so the stage is set for Secret Crisis...
I see what you did DC! You can’t fool me!😎
When you think of how difficult it was to make this story conclude in a satisfying way, this is a strong finish.
