  • Just wanted to take a quick look at the Bipods I use on my rifles. The bipods shown here can be used in PRS, F-Class, Hunting, and about any other rifle based situation I can think of. As many others before me, I have went deep down in the equipment rabbit hole when it comes to the long range shooting hobby. One piece of gear I hole heartedly believe should not be overlooked is the bipod. There are many great ones out there to choose from, but these are just the ones I chose and that work best for me. Thanks again and dont forget to Like and Subscribe if you like the content.

      @@jacobjohnson6766 Hi Jacob! The BR-4 Arca Spec model is definitely the preferred bipod for that environment but we are getting ready to launch a new bipod that is almost the same as that BR-4 but the leg will deploy to 45° much quicker and the Arca Mount will also be QD for quicker adjustments while competing.

    Gave away my Harris to a newbie for his AR. One of the springs hung up and it just felt cheap. Put my nice Atlas on my AR and it works perfectly. Bought the Accu-Tac for my Savage 338 Lapua magnum and just like you said, robust, slightly over built but in a good way and keeps the rifle solid and super stable in a prone position or on the bench. Couldn't be happier.

    Thank you for the information on these bipods. After having bad luck with cheap and moderately priced bipods, I'm done. I just ordered the Accu-Tac SR-5 bipod for my 10/22 build.

    Can I ask why you chose the FC5 over the 4?
    Being 6ft I think the 5 is better bc most people I see have the 4 but have the legs pulled out (which is probably slightly less stable, so why not just go w the 5?)
    Thanks.

    • @midwest_long_range
      @midwest_long_range  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly I don’t use the fc-5 a lot but when I do I use it on the bench for zeroing my rifle or prone. The 5 gave me the additional height I personally needed to comfortably get onto the rifle in those positions. My choice was purely driven by my personal comfort needs.

    Enjoyed the review very informative. I have an Accu-Tac mounted on my LWRC AR and agree its first class. I recently purchased a second with the ARCA attachment to go with a new Daniel Defense Delta 5 Pro in 6.5 mm. Its the chassis model with an integrated ARCA-LOCK rail that is advertised as being compatible with ARCA spec accessories. Unfortunately the mount slipped under recoil on my first visit to the range. Apparently the serrated style edge of the ARCA-LOCK rail did not provide sufficient friction to lock the bipod in position. Just wondered if you have any experience with the ARCA style bipod on one of the new ARCA-LOCK rails by Area 419?

    • @liberalclownshow
      @liberalclownshow ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ARACA-LOCK rail by Area 419 that is a collaboration with DD and their Delta 5 PRO is IMO a better ARCA system than the standard "smooth" dove tail ARCA rails and bipod mounts that most people use on their rifles, because the lock up is just better with the Area 419 system. The Area 419 system uses a "toothed" bipod mount with internal "pins" that interlock in between the teeth on their ARCA lock rail as you tighten down the GOLD knob on the mount and lock the bipod into position on the rail where you want it. This really mitigates any slippage of the bipod with RECOIL, BUT ONLY IF you're using their Area 419 mount that is available mounted to an Atlas bipod, or you can buy the mount separately and also attach it to an Atlas you may already have, or use it on a Harris bipod as well. And if you want to use the Area 419 mount on a smooth ARCA dovetail rail then you can remove the pins inside the mount and it will be more compatible with a smooth rail.
      I think the issue you're having is that you are trying to do the reverse and use Accu-Tac's standard smooth mount on the Delta 5 Pro Area 419 ARCA lock toothed rail, and I am not sure that you're getting enough surface area contact between the toothed rail and the smooth Accu-Tac mount, because the teeth on the Delta 5 Pro are actually interrupting that constant smooth surface area that you would find on a regular ARCA rail, that otherwise would provide more surface area lockup IF paired with a similar standard smooth mount as in the Accu-Tac's mount. You have to go apples to apples with the set up IMO; in other words tooth to tooth or smooth to smooth. If you want to use that Delta 5 Pro rail the way it was intended you need to either go with an Atlas Bipod that is already attached to the Area 419 ARCA lock mount with the GOLD knob and purchase that as a unit for your Delta 5 Pro, or if you don't want an Atlas or obviously want to use your Accu-Tac that you bought, then you need to contact Accu-Tac and or Area 419, and see if the Area 419 ARCA lock mount with the GOLD knob can be attached with a couple screws to the ACCU-Tac Bipod in the same way it can be attached to an Atlas or a Harris, and then you have the bipod you want that will now attach and lock up properly with the Delta 5 Pro rail the way it was intended to, and thereby solve that movement problem of the Bipod due to recoil.

      @@liberalclownshow Agree 100% I subsequently purchased the Atlas bipod with the ARCA lock mount directly from Area 419. It locks up solid and has not slipped after repeated use,

    I just bought a WB-5 and do like it but to bad they have those skinny little legs when you extend them out past that beefy main leg.
    Wish they would add a little more material to the interior legs.
