Really enjoyed the objective approach,it highlighted the fact that price is not always the deciding factor , and that a simple product can often be the most pragmatic approach. Many folk don't have the budget to even consider some of the MDT products as it will often be a trade off for another piece of equipment.
I recently got an Accu-Tac myself. In a few range trips I've discovered one minor issue. The pads on the bottoms of the legs can come unscrewed fairly easy. Rather than worry about them loosening up, I've put a little bit of Locktite on the threads of each. Problem solved.
HI Dave! I noticed the same thing after I did this video. I also use a pinch of blue locktite. I ordered the spikes but honestly, they seem a bit too long and I'm not gonna spend another $40 on the feet that go with them. I think for 95% of what I shoot off of the rubber feet will do just fine. Thanks for watching my friend!
It would seem to me that, just from reading some of the comments, (THIS IS A GREAT ONE), that Accu-Tac has included more extras "in the box" than the other bipods. This being the Picatinny-ARCA conversion piece and spare feet which seem to add up to a tidy sum in very little time! Thanks!
I'd contact Accu-Tac and ask if there are spare parts included. I ordered one last year from Optics Planet and it didn't have any spare feet. @@frufru0071
I had a CKYE-Pod and sold it for all the same reasons you mentioned. I'm back on the Harris right now but strongly considering the Accu-Tac or the Warne Skyline. Thanks for the honest review.
Great video! Super informative, helpful, and the text boxes with your thoughts are fantastic for explaining what you're talking about. Also, I think you just saved me about $300 by not overpaying for the cyke... hello accu-tac, and thank you!!
Hi Reda! Thanks for the kind words and glad it helped in your decision. I've talked to so many people who were like me and were thinking of the ONE time in a hundred that they MIGHT need that extra adjustability of the Skye-pod, but frankly, it's not worth paying for that one position in my opinion. Thanks for watching my friend!
What versions of the Ckye Pod and Accu Tac were you looking at with the 300 price difference. I was comparing a single pull gen 2 Ckye to a PC-5 and there's only about 120 dollar difference. What do you think of your Accu Tac?
Hi Jeremy! Yeah, my exact thoughts and conclusions. Every time I shoot with my buddies they try to sell me on THEIR bipod and I just hand them my rifle and say "deploy to 90 degrees", then "deploy to 45 degrees", then "extend the legs", and finally "retract the legs", and then I ask "what more do you want from a bipod?". They usually have no response. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@cheech1557 I'm running the SR-5 G2 ARCA, which is a bit long for PRS, but it works great for me. accu-tac.com/products/sr-5-g2-arca-spec-qd-bipod Thanks for watching my friend!
Fantastic 123 of bipods video. I am looking into an Accu Tac after having learned the hard way. I should have paid once and cried once, I bought an mdt grnd pod for bench plinking thinking it would be great but like the ckye pod it is very wobbly and cheaply made and has one too many plasticky buttons as well. Thanks again for the best informational.
@rcpilothamradio4503: I second your statement-"Excellent review about the bipods." I also just wanted to say how much I enjoy owning a K31. Unfortunately, there was no piece of paper stating who the rifle belonged to-it was well used and expertly maintained. I understand why the Nazis didn’t want to invade Switzerland, where every home was issued a rifle, (a K31? A Schmidt Rubin?), and they were certainly skilled with their 7.5x55 caliber rifles. I’d love to see one of the many friendly competitions that the Swiss still have with their own rifles, and others. Of course, I really enjoy watching the K31 marksmen making these incredibly accurate shots with just diopter sights. They make our range, (here in Western Canada), look tiny! The Swiss are shooting across a valley and over one, two, three + kilometres. No bipods! Happy Days to you BOTH. Great bipod review, (from a fella who has one on his K31), I have been wasting money on the wrong bipod(s)!😢
The Accu-Tac is great, it is my second favorite Bi Pod, just behind my BLK LBL one. It is very ridged, and simple to operate. Price wise it is a deal. The only thing I dislike is it limits hand, and use of attachments like lights, grips, and snags on things like straps, and bag handles. I love the BLK LBL in this matter simply because it is totally out of the way, until you need it. No buttons, or levers to detach (magnetic) and adjustable legs (button adjustment (bad)) then you can return to non-bipod with a squeeze of two buttons at the same time for the magnets to hold legs. Even the cant has an adjustable knob (out of the way) to adjust it. Nothing to snag or catch. It replaces the entire front handguard, at about $500.
Also worth mentioning that Accu-Tac has all foot options besides the rubber feet that come on it. Spike, Sled and Claw options are also available and they are VERY nice. I have all but the newest Claw addition. I also like that the feet have the threaded stem and not the leg itself because if you remove them to swap out and set your bipod down you DO NOT jack up your threads or get them dirty. Just a minor plus I guess but still a plus imo.
HI Eric! Don't know how I missed your comment and sorry for the late reply. Thanks for pointing those options out and I should have done so in the video. Thanks for watching my friend!
This is a bit late, but Hawk Hill Machine makes an adapter so that you can use all Atlas-style feet on the Accu-tac. So if you already have atlas feet or want something that Accu-tac doesnt make, you're covered.
i really enjoy your videos. very educational. what is the rear bag you use? I am looking at what's around and noticed that yours seems to be a good fit
Hi plrodrig123! The bag in the video is a Weibad Tator Tot with a heavy fill. I also like the Armageddon gear Wax Canvas “OG” - Optimized Game Changer and if I was starting over, I'd go with the Armageddon Gear because you can adjust the fill through a spout in the bag, whereas the Weibad bags don't allow any fill changes unless you have a heavy duty sewing machine and know how to sew (or your wife can like mine!). Thanks for watching and for the kind words my friend!
@@tonypipTexashi again. I’m getting quite a bit of information from your videos and the (many interesting) comments. However, you didn’t answer this question, (which is of GREAT importance to me, as well). Can you please make a suggestion?
Hi FruFru! The reality is that we rarely are in the true prone position, which is where you'd use the pan feature the most. Although, there are other instances where it could come in handy. My opinion is that it's another thing to think about during a stage, but if you're comfortable with it, then it wouldn't hurt...As long as you can lock it down as/if needed. Thanks for watching my friend!
What do you think about a 600 dollar gen 2 Ckye Pod versus a 500 dollar Accu Tac PC-5? (arca model plus spiked feet). With price difference being much different now and the gen 2 supposedly having fixed all the issues you mentioned, which would you go with? I'm an old Harris guy looking for something new for a build I'm working on
Hi Daniel, I've played with the gen 2 and it still feels like plastic to me and is wobbly as well...But again, that's just me. I love the Accu-Tac due to it's ruggedness. Thanks for watching my friend!
Im pretty much getting the BR4-G2. Im debating pic rail vs Arca. Have to get adapter for front two swivel studs on my AG stalk. But if I want to use ok AR10 or something pic just seems easier. Can you change the pic and arca head on them?
Another thing about the ckye pod is that, why the hell is it so much more money!? like who the hell do they think they are to charge like 3-4 hundred dollars more then the competition? I don’t get it. Maybe because they know you’ll buy it because everybody else has one and you’ll feel left out, and you don’t want others to think you can’t afford it. They have a way of doing that with their products. like, the send it level. That thing is way too expensive but you see others with it, and now you gotta have one or you’re not cool…
Very true Reckless! I got caught up in that when I first started shooting, then I realized that I don't care what other people think and began spending money on those things that are actually going to help me impact the target...While the bipod is one of those things, that CKYE was just too flimsy for me and I now run the Accu-Tac on everything. Thanks for watching my friend!
In looking at all 3 products I has sticker concerns. Busing Harris bipods forever they have never failed. However they have limitations. A varmint hunting friend just bought the Accu-Tac and I was totally impressed by the stability and how solid a unit it is. Your presentation is outstanding and far more importantly is your a shooter addressing it functionality as it applies in PRS where shooting from obstacles, etc requires that your position is as stable as the shooter has to be to clean the coarse. Thanks so much for your excellent presentation.
Thanks for watching Vincent! Glad you could get enough information for your decision. I'm still using the Accu-Tac and loving it. Note that I say in my description that might want to look at the ARCA BR-4 model if you want a shorter bipod.
Ive been running Harris bipods with the arca adapters , I could never justify the cost of the Atlas , but now that Im finally doing PRS matches , the harris has done well , but I have found the need for a bit more . I have researched a good bit , your vid being one of them of course , and I have chosen the Accu-tac , just seems best for my needs and ability , should be here tomorrow ...
@@The4GunGuy So I received mine , definitely a well built piece of gear , practicing a little with it in my yard last night and can see how much more versatile it is going to be for what we do ...I did notice how easily the pads can come loose , tiny drop of blue LT will handle that but am going to order a back up set of the pads and support cones to keep in my bag ...
@@The4GunGuy yes sir I played with it a good bit, pretty easy, i'm liking it a lot, I did find some thing about the cant adjustment I did not like so I made a modification, I'll show you next time we cross paths in Navasota
@@Aldocello1 Yeah, I ended up adding a lock washer, but I may go to a rubber o-ring. I don't use the cant that much since the legs are so easily adjusted, but I want it to hold better than it does oob...Let's sync up at ccc and compare.
Shooting with a bipod on pan will direct the energy of recoil loaded on the feet or skis at cross angles to the linear recoil of the rifle and shooter. Basic physics.
This is a great, explanatory video. I love the points you made and the scenarios you showed. Just a little FYI, for PRS style shooting we highly recommend the BR-4 G2 bipod, it is the best seller for that shooting style and it is a bit shorter and narrower so it is more compact and friendlier to the different barricades and stages. Thanks again for this great comparison video.
Hi Accu-Tac! Thanks for the kind words on my review. I agree with the BR-4 G2, BUT, if you're going to shoot off tires like I showed in the video, the longer legs of the one I have are much better. I just adjust to 45 degrees forward for other positions and they work great! Excellent product!
So I got a Daniel defense delta five pro and looking at getting into some prs style shooting. Would you recommend the BR-4 G2 ? Thanks for any help you could give on choosing one of your bipods.
@@ghostman197 I initially thought that mine (the one in the video) was actually to long for PRS, BUT, after talking with some others who purchased the BR-4 G2, and found that it was to short for them, I'm glad I got the longer version. If I need to lower it, I can always take the legs to 45 degrees. So if you think you'll need to "reach out" for stability on some stages like tires for example, I'd go with the SR-5 G2 (remember that's the ARCA version if that's what you need). Hope this helps!
HI Force! Nope, I've not looked at them. Looks like they function similarly to the Accu-Tac? Still loving and using only Accu-Tac though. Thanks for watching another one my friend!
Now after this video the Accu-Tac back log is now a month longer. :) I plan on some kind of Accu-Tac for my vudoo 22 360. Good thing is i just recently ordered it so i can do the same with the pod and get them nearly the same time. Just planing ahead Good video
Thank you for sharing this review, I found it very helpful and informative. I’m looking for a bipod that has a WIDE footprint-AccuTac is an inviting option-they seem to be FAR better than the other two. I NEED a bipod because I’m quadriplegic and don’t have the hand function to hold a rifle. I have a harness that I wear which holds the butt of the rifle. On a different topic, if you’re shooting a match with "KYL" targets, would you NOT want your bipod to PAN? I have a bipod that has the ability to CANT, and I find it to interfere with my ability to shoot accurately. I would rather have a bipod with the ability to PAN right to left-I fail to see how CANT is more desirable than PAN. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge with us.
Hi FruFru! The reality is that we rarely are in the true prone position, which is where you'd use the pan feature the most. Although, there are other instances where it could come in handy. I've tried them all and I just keep going back to the Harris. It's simple and it works. The PRS National Champion the past 2 years uses one too, so sometimes simple is better!
Hi Joe! Yeah I couldn't get hold of a harris, but totally agree with "simplicity". I may do another one if I can get some fellow shooters to loan me theirs for a weekend. Thanks for watching my friend!
which bipod would you recomend for use in an ar15 and ar10 ? i will be using it to shoot couple hundred yards at most. price is no problem. i will use it to shoot on more rifles later on, and shoot farther. im going to be using it on qd so i can use 1 bipod for all my rifles atm.
Hi JC! I would still go with the Accu-Tac to be honest. Sounds like you won't need the ARCA clamp, so you will just get the QD mount. The bipod in the video is the SR-5 G2, and it's a bit high, but I've gotten used to running it. If you're going to be using it with an AR, then that model may be good for a 30 rd mag, so I wouldn't go lower, like a BR-4 model, stick to the SR-5. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching my friend!
@The4GunGuy thanks for the response, yeah its going to be on my 11.5 ar15 when i just want to zero it and shoot from bench or ground, and then i will take it off right after that, so i will just need the regular qd for picatinny rail. The other rifle i will use it on is my ar10 16 inch, and that one the bipod would probably be used most of the time. Most thing im worried about is weight and size. Considering all that which would be the best model, and would it still be a accutac? Thanks
@@jesuschrist8069 Not that much difference in weight really. It is a heavier bipod than the CKYE-POD, which, if you're shooting prone like you mentioned, I want a heavier, more stable bipod anyway. The CKYE was just too loose everywhere for me...I like the bipod to be rigid.
@The4GunGuy honestly after doing more research the only thing that sets back the accutac is the weight. Its half heavmmd heavier than the atlas.the weight isnt too much of a concern though since ill mostly just be using it to zero, and take long range shots from bench or prone. Like if i want to do drills on my ar15 ill remove the bipod. Did you notice that much of a difference in stability between the atlas and the accutac? Does the accutac also make the rifle more accurate, and more consistant groups with how much more stability it has? I can get the accutac for the same price as the atlas cal right now.
Okay, you and Joel Wise of Precision Rifle Network have convinced me not to buy a CKYE-POD. I have been looking at one for a long time, but could not get passed the price. Now between this video and Joel's video, I will rule out getting one, at least for now. I am not doing any shooting where all the features of the CKYE-POD are needed and would justify the expense. I have an Atlas BT10 and an Accu-Tac S5. Both in my opinion are okay. I have found the Accu-Tac S5, to be a little too long when shooting from a bench. I have purchased an MDT GRND POD bipod that I really like. It was only $215.00. Is extremely easy to deploy the legs. It is light, sturdy and has cant. It is my new favorite bipod. I really appreciate you making this video. It was really informative and helpful.
Hi Armeddiver! I'm just glad you found something that works for YOU. The GRND POD looks very promising, and the only challenge I had with the CKYE-POD was having to remember too many little things and buttons to make it do what I needed. Thanks for watching my friend!
Hi Shirolee! The MDT was just too much stuff to remember...Pull this, push that, sweep out, etc... I still use the Accu-Tac today and it's one of the few accessories I haven't changed. Thanks for watching my friend!
i want to shoot prone and sitting. im 6foot 3 and sit in a 3 inch chair while hunting. if i add the leg extentions to the accu tac, would i be able to shoot prone on the fly without removing the extentions?
Hi K M! If you add the 10" extensions to the SR-5 that I have, at max extension (SR-5 legs extended with the 10" extension), and the bipod at 45 degrees your vertical height would be 14.85" which is pretty high. With the SR-5 legs NOT extended but the 10" extension on them, and the bipod at 45 degrees your vertical height would be 11.67" which is still pretty high. I used a triangle calculator at www.omnicalculator.com/math/triangle-45-45-90 to compute these values. These heights don't include the height to your scope, just to the top of the bipod. Hope this helps and thanks for watching my friend!
You mention the cost of the cky pod vs what you get and how functional it actually is... I agreed whole heartedly which is why i could justify buying it... Then they just put them on sale for 450 bucks +shipping... Thats similar to the WB4 or WB5 from accutac
Hi Aaron! Don't get me wrong, the CKYE-POD is a good bipod and many shooters I shoot with run them, it was just too much to think about for me during a stage. I like the simplicity of the Accu-Tac and it's 'beefiness' from a built perspective. But at $450, you can't beat the price for that CKYE-POD. Thanks for watching my friend!
Which ones of these bipods Require you to press a button to unlock the folded legs? When you say “pull on the legs” to deploy the Accutac, are you simply unfolding or do you have to stretch the leg out in line with the leg in order to unlock it? {The lighting and camera angles are insufficient to show what you doing with your fingers, making it difficult to understand what you mean by “knob” Thanks For clarifying that you really meant “lever,” But what you were actually fiddling with is not visible in the video)
Hi Bob! The legs are attached to the mount which is like a gear if you can visualize that. when I pull down on the leg itself, I'm pulling the bar attached to the leg out of that particular gear "socket" and then I can move the leg to the next gear notch. No buttons to push to disengaged the leg, just pulling on the leg. Many of my fellow competitors are moving to this bipod due to its ease of use. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
I have the MDT Heavy Duty Gen II bipod and is the only one I care for. It is far superior to the standard model and much better built; I wouldn't trade it for any other bipod on the market for my use. The Heavy Duty MDT is a Beast and a must have for me. 👍
Hi Sagittariustoo! They are beautiful bipods for sure and it's really what works best for you, so glad you're happy with that MDT. I run the ACC chassis on both my comp rifles and LOVE their product. Thanks for watching my friend!
I am looking at Accu-Tacs and I can not decide which one to go with. I like the FC for bench and prone shooting but do I REALLY need a stance that wide?? They almost have too many options lol
Hey Kevin! Yeah, that FC is pretty wide and not sure about using for PRS although doesn't sound like you're going to be shooting PRS. I initially wished I had the shorter version of mine, but honestly, I like the extension I can get mine out to for 45 degree positions like tires. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@The4GunGuy No I do not have plans to shoot PRS but hey you never know. For bench shooting or even ELR the FC4 seems like a smart choice but for PRS it wouldnt work. So maybe get something that could be a jack of all trades?! The good thing is the secondary market for these are amazing and trading up wouldn't be a problem. Great video by the way
Completely unrelated to this - thoughts on new Vortex? I think they hit it out of the park with the Gen III - we’ll see where street price settles. I have the 4.5-27 on the vudoo and the ZCO on my 6.5x47. Thinking that Im going to wait for their 8-40 for my big gun.But the 10m parallax on the new Vortex would be amazing on the Vudoo. Related to this, I have the atlas, I hate it but not enough to change it. Lol.
Hi S F! I've heard a lot about the Gen III and if it's everything I've heard, ZCO, NF, Kahles and others have a new peer in the Tier I class. I loved my Gen II, but the ZCO's glass and reticle made me switch to the ZCO. Can't wait to get behind one! On the Atlas, man, I ran two of them for 3+ years and actually really did like them. But I got hold of this Accu-Tac and man, I just love the thing. If you want to sell those atlas's, you'll have no trouble on snipershide. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@The4GunGuy I have a Vortex coming next week. Put the ZCO on the vudoo. Also have a ZCO 8-40 on back order so then will move the vortex to the Vudoo and either keep the other ZCO for another build or sell it. Will let you know how it compares optically to the ZCO (I think its going to come to edge sharpness and thats it). We'll see.
Not a bad choice Tallyman15! It all boils down to what works for YOU and what you're going to be comfortable with, so go for it. Thanks again for watching my friend!
Hi Gus! It's the SR-5 G2: ARCA SPEC QD BIPOD which is longer than others you'll consider, but I like the added length. You may want the shorter BR-4 G2: ARCA SPEC QD BIPOD. Thanks for watching my friend!
Hi Mike! This is the SR-5 ARCA model but it is a bit long for PRS use, although I like it in case I need to really reach out at a 45 degree angle --or-- I need additional height for a specific position. If you're going to use it for PRS matches, you might want the BR-4 ARCA model which is a bit shorter. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@The4GunGuythank YOU for sharing the knowledge you’ve gained from your experience with these products. I wish I’d seen your channel sooner, but am glad to have found it now. I’ve made a few comments on why I need a bipod-I have a spinal cord injury-and I have learned more about which bipod would be best for me. I’m having a Tikka T1x put together so that I can concentrate on my accuracy with a "KYL" target and that will keep me occupied for a long time. I need a bipod with the widest footprint possible. That’ll help me to cycle the action & (hopefully) remain on target. The Accu-Tac sure looks like the best option for me. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with us.
Hi Wizzle! Yeah, that's what I did for my Atlas's when I had them. They are good bipods especially since they updated them with the anti-rotation on the legs. Thanks for watching my friend!
Seems like a bit of user error with the MDT on the cant tension. You dont need that allenkey. Find a tension that works for you and it will both allow movement and hold your rifle at whatever angle you like. Also the movement in the legs is to aid in recoil and is a good thing.
Hi MTNGear! I agree with the fact that you can set the tension "friction" and then rotate the rifle to the cant angle you want, but in some cases I want to be able to tighten the cant down and not let the rifle rotate...This was the issue I brought that requires the use of an allen key. They should have just included a locking knob for that price like my Accu-Tac has. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@The4GunGuy Absolutely see what you are saying there as it would be a nice feature. Especially for PRS style shooting. The internals of their parts are done quite smart and that tilting doesn't loosen the tension off like others therefore doesn't need the locking leaver but still agree its a nice feature and something that should be included.
Hi Razma! I've looked at the Tier One bipods and they look very well built. I just didn't have one to include in this comparison. Thanks for watching and the recommendation my friend!
Thanks Ray! Hey, that atlas is not a bad bipod my friend. Very close to the Accu-tac in operation and I ran both my atlas's for 3 years with no issues. Just like the ease of deployment with the Accu-Tac. Thanks for watching Ray!
If you extend them too long on the accutac and want to bring it back (shorten) you need two hands or fully retract and extend it again. Cant push a button and retract one click. Or can you? IDK thanks. Great vids.
Hi L W! You're correct, you'll just retract fully, then with only one hand, extend to the desired length. I thought this would be an issue as well, but in 3 matches when I've had to adjust it wasn't a big deal...I just listen for the click in each leg as I extended after full retraction. Another consideration here is that in the video I state that I'm not sure of the "closeness" of the clicks in the extension...In other words, are the teeth too close? Well, a good thing is that if you miss extending between the two legs by say one or two clicks, you're still relatively level (unless you're shooting out past say 700 yards, then it can impact your POI). But all in all, still love this simple bipod. Thanks for watching my friend!
I have the CKYE POD with lever for cant. I have the tension set so I can adjust cant on the fly, never locked down. The leg up/down adjustments are great. Agree that the CP is not as solid as the accu tac
Hey Ol Yella! I thought the Accu-Tac was much easier to use than my Atlas, but again, that's just me. If you're happy with the Atlas and are used to deploying/adjusting it, then I'd say save your money and just run with it. Thanks for watching my friend!
Are you SURE the Accu-Tac doesn't rotate 180 in both directions? I've had one for 5 years and love it. Recommend them all the time. They haven't changed the design as far as I know. Always been 5 positions incl 180 both ways. Perhaps the tension lever was in the way? (My Gen1 has the turnkey). Anyway, agree with your opinions on it and imo, the many many many people who still think Atlas is the "best" have probably not tried a Accu-Tac yet. Atlas WAS king. (duck and cover. ha ha). Great review!
Well....after getting another one (FC-4 this time) I will correct myself. Unlike the BR-4 I had and SR-5 I have, it does NOT have 5 leg positions. Only 4. You were right, I was wrong.
@@ericbennett1253it takes a person with integrity and strength of character to admit when they’re wrong, let alone make a follow up post. Kudos to you, Eric. You are an example of that kind of person, and you’ve made an astute observation. I think it’s great! 👍🏼
@@frufru0071 Thank you for the kind words of respect. And yeah....I really hate being wrong but I'm not so prideful that I won't admit it. I'll own it every time, even when I'm not called out on it. ;)
Hi Eridaniels68! Mine is the ARCA SR-5, but you might want to look at the shorter BR-4 if you want shorter legs. I'm used to just running them at a 45 forward angle to reduce the height if I need to, but it did take me a bit to get used to doing that! Thanks for watching my friend!
I run the Atlas V8 bipods on my lighter weight rifles and Accu-Tac bipods on my heavier rifles. I like the Atlas because I can move the legs and pull out the extensions with one hand, one finger. But on the Accu-Tac it takes two hands to move the leg positions because you have to pull the legs down to release the position and I darn near pull the bipod off the rifle they are so stiff.
Hi Varmint Hunter! Yeah, I had to get used to cranking that ARCA clamp down myself! They all have their good and not so good points, and glad you found the right equipment for the right purpose. Thanks for watching my friend!
Another very excellent informative video. I’ve been fortunate to take classes from and shoot with quite a few very accomplished shooters (the kind of guys you could have whatever kind of equipment, rifle ammo for free) and I’ve asked several of them about The atlas bipod all of them have said that it is far too jiggly and loose for precision and they all strongly recommended Harris over the atlas. Especially for minimal biological input style of Shooting. Recently the same gentleman most of them have switched to the Accutech bipod. I’ve personally made first round hits at over a mile while using a Harris bipod. And I have had the opportunity to use and Accutech bipod and hands-down it is far and away the most stable ridged bipod out there. I’d say at minimum the Harris bipod is adequate and very fast to deploy. Accutech is definitely an upgrade from a Harris. Also I find the buttons on the atlas to be very hard to find and use. Again thank you so much for putting on such quality info. 👍
Hi Joseph!!! Man, thanks for a really detailed comment! I've heard very good things about the Harris bipod and wished I could have included one in the comparison...maybe a "chapter 2" should be in the works here! Thanks for being a faithful follower my friend!
I have 3 Atlas bipods. Then I shot out west. Now I also have a double and triple leg Ckye Pod. Atlas is great but the Ckye Pod is a game changer. Only problem is that they are stupid expensive.
Hi Eric! Yep, if you're used to it and it works for YOU then go with it. I agree that the cost is pretty ridiculous on those MDT's...But then again, I paid them for their expensive weight kits so who am I to talk! Appreciate the view and the comment my friend!
Hi Bovver! This is the SR-5 G2: Arca Spec Bipod which is a longer bipod than the PRS version: BR-4 G2: Arca Spec Bipod. I had the Atlas PRS version and found it to be a bit too short for me so I went this the longer version on the accu-tac. I can "lower" it by placing the legs at 45 degrees so it works fine. Thanks for watching my friend!
Ok thanks, so what makes the BR-4 G2 the PRS version? Just curious what the difference is between BR-4 and SR-5 besides the height? I have the FC-4 g2 and I’m looking for something taller.
I need a bipod that doesn't deploy quickly, same for the legs. Also no qd. And no way to lock down the pan and cant so its always moving. All this _and_ it's gotta be super expensive.
Thanks Larry! I don't think Big Red is going anywhere anytime soon until they change a lot of things, but still like 'em! Thanks for watching my friend!
Hi matt! Couldn't agree more with you. So many guys I shoot with have switched to Accu-Tac because it's built like a tank, easy to use, and a lot cheaper than others. Hey, thanks for watching my friend!
Hi D C...It's a 20 Inch barrel. But I've since gone to a straight bull barrel, also 20" and it's a tack driver now. If I had it to do over again, I'd just get the action (if they only sell that, not sure) and put a Straight barrel on it, then send THAT to the testing center. But the good news is that the same ammo the testing center found that worked in my original barrel works great in the new one.
@@The4GunGuy I ordered a 20" kukri fluted barrel with Vudoo 360 action. I plan to install this on a MDT ACC chassis like yours. So just trying to get an idea of what the finished product would look like. For starter, there seem to be plenty of room to install an EC tuner
The ergos of the Atlas are terrible. The Accutac feature set looks pretty great. For the money, a notched leg, swivel Harris with a pod loc is hard to beat.
You forgot to mention the Atlas BT10 V8 legs turn allowing the rifle to move forward when you shoot. B&T has a buy back for the V8 model in exchange for the new BT46 PSR model which fixes this mistake problem is the cost to fix this mistake places the price of the PSR model at 50% more than actual retail price. What a rip off to fix B&Ts mistake.
Hi DLN1234! Thanks for thinking of that fix for the Atlas. I remember talking to someone about it, but forgot. I'm so happy with this Accu-Tac...It's just perfect for me anyway. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@The4GunGuy Well I took your advice and sold my Atlas BT35-LW17 for $350.00 cdn. as no-one wanted my V8 Gen I model and bought a Accu-Tac WB-4 for $450.00 cdn. You are right about the Accu-Tac looking beefier which is what I wanted for my 223 28" Bartlein 1.25" barrel in a MDT ESS Chassis and a Vortex Viper PST scope which weighs about 18.5lbs plus I like the wider span on the legs at the top. I temporarily resolved the cant/pan problem with the Atlas bipods by installing a rubber O-ring between the lever mount and the bipod body giving the screw lever a little help when you tighten it. The main problem is when you tighten the screw the plastic up that goes inside of the plastic insert is made from hard plastic and has trouble gripping and locks both the cant & pan at the same time and it's very easy to loosen the screw by moving the bipod around. Also at our range I installed 2" x 4" at the end of the benches so we could lay the bipod into the wood and lean forward a bit to stop the bipod from rolling due to the legs that turn in the V8 model or Gen I. Gen II does not have this problem. 😁 ps: Atlas BT has a Patton on the legs adjusting 100% both ways thats why Accu-TAc and MDT legs only go part of the way.
Deploying the accu tac is garbage.. on the front of a heavy barrel you have to point up pull up pull out. and thats when it eats the side of your thumb off. If you carry a tourniquet youll be OK buy the accutac
Hi Frank! Yeah, deploying is a learning curve and has some "gotcha's" for sure. I have them on my comp rifles with bull barrels and deploying doesn't seem to be a problem, but again, I'm practicing a lot and shooting matches, so I'm used to it. Thanks for watching my friend!
Hi Satanic! Yep, it's a chunk of change for sure, but just like any other sport, you pay for quality and in a match I can promise you that the $19 Amazon bipod isn't gonna cut it. We have 2 minutes to hit up to 6 targets at varying distances while changing positions and every second counts, so if I can eliminate time spent deploying or collapsing my bipod, they're seconds I can spent getting on the target and making an impact. We all spent ridiculous amounts of money on our sports (motocross, golf, tennis, video games, etc...) to have the best equipment that helps us do better. BUT, I do understand your comment and want to thank you for watching my friend!
@@The4GunGuy Trust me, I do try and BUY the BEST. But to me, there are some things where we are DEFINITELY GETTING BENT OVER. There have BEEN MANY MANY SNIPERS who have KILLED MANY MANY PEOPLE throughout the CENTURY and NEVER HAD or USED A BIPOD.
Great video! I'm currently looking for my 1st LR bipod so this was extremely helpful.
Really enjoyed the objective approach,it highlighted the fact that price is not always the deciding factor , and that a simple product can often be the most pragmatic approach. Many folk don't have the budget to even consider some of the MDT products as it will often be a trade off for another piece of equipment.
Hi Percy! Thanks for that great feedback. Thanks for watching another one of my videos as well!
I had the same problem with mine
Permanently glued mine.. good thing spares came in with the box.. 😂

Very informative. Made my decision so much easier in a world of to many options! Thanks
Hi Jim! Thanks for the kinds words...I use the Accu-Tac on everything now and still love it's ease of use. Thanks for watching my friend!
I made the same decision after trying all of these bipods. The accu-tac is simple, fast, and rock solid.
@@The4GunGuy The "flimsy" feeling of the ckye-pod really turned me off. It's the most fragile feeling of the three by far.

Great video as per usual. Making me change my mind from a ckye pod to an accutac
Hi Lee!! Thanks for the kind words my friend!
Thanks for watching and for the kind words Tar! You'll love the accu-tac!
Just picked up the Accu-Tac due to this review. Found a decent deal and I'm excited to throw it on the AR
Hi lintonindy! Glad I could help with your decision, you'll love it. Thanks for watching my friend!
Excellent review about the bipods. Thank a lot! Best wishes from Switzerland, Rene
Hi RC! Thanks for the kind words my friend and HAPPY NEW YEAR from Houston, Texas!
@@MrPiimpslap Thanks for the info Mr Piimpslap!
Should look at the Atlas CAL model.
i really enjoy your videos. very educational. what is the rear bag you use?
I can't thank you enough. This is some solid information.
HI Christopher! Thanks for the kind words my friend! Look for this on Black Friday, hopefully you'll get a deal!
Curious if you would you recommend a bipod with a pan feature for PRS or not?
I have been satisfied with my ATLAS bipod. Made in the USA also.
Hi Charles, yep, nothing wrong with the Atlas...I ran them for years before finding the Accu-Tac. Thanks for watching!
Great review, I only have ever used a Harris but this video makes me rethink about upgrading. I think like the accutac better than the ckye
Hey Chris! Thanks for the kind words my friend! Next time we're at a match I'll show you this thing...very simple and very sturdy.

@@The4GunGuy Of course! and yes, I definitely see the advantage there with the longer legs. Thanks again!!
Awesome thanks so much. I will definitely check out that SR-5 G2 as well. Excellent video by the way!
And I'm back on another of your vids. Have you been able to fiddle with a warne bipod?

My opinion is that it's another thing to think about during a stage, but if you're comfortable with it, then it wouldn't hurt...As long as you can lock it down as/if needed. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@jesuschrist8069 I am accu-tac all the way. Atlas is good, but the deployment of the Accu-Tac is awesome. Get what will work for you though.

The Accu-Tac and Phoenix suit my shooting style which is prone.

Not a bad choice Tallyman15! It all boils down to what works for YOU and what you're going to be comfortable with, so go for it. Thanks again for watching my friend!

What model accu tac is in the video
Hi Gus! It's the SR-5 G2: ARCA SPEC QD BIPOD which is longer than others you'll consider, but I like the added length. You may want the shorter BR-4 G2: ARCA SPEC QD BIPOD. Thanks for watching my friend!
Thank you for the review sir. Which Accu-Tac model is this?
I bought a 2 screw atlas bipod for around $200. When I converted to arca, I bought a MPA adapter for $80 or so.
You guys have to try a tier one ELR bipod! Superior to all of them in every regard.
Hi Razma! I've looked at the Tier One bipods and they look very well built. I just didn't have one to include in this comparison. Thanks for watching and the recommendation my friend!
Another great video. Just wished I had seen it before I make the purchase on an atlas last month...
Thanks Ray! Hey, that atlas is not a bad bipod my friend. Very close to the Accu-tac in operation and I ran both my atlas's for 3 years with no issues. Just like the ease of deployment with the Accu-Tac. Thanks for watching Ray!
Does the accutac arca clamp slide or move from recoil when you are shooting
Hi Kyley808, not at all as long as you've tightened it down. Still running it and still loving it. Thanks for watching my friend!

Hi John! Yeah, that was just my personal observation but I do realize how flexible that CP is...It's pretty awesome. Thanks for watching my friend!
If a guy already has a atlas, Is the accu tac worth upgrading over said atlas?
Hey Ol Yella! I thought the Accu-Tac was much easier to use than my Atlas, but again, that's just me. If you're happy with the Atlas and are used to deploying/adjusting it, then I'd say save your money and just run with it. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@The4GunGuy went ahead and tried a Accutac…. I’ll be selling my atlas bipods now (thank you)
@@Ziptie497 Nice!
I'll own it every time, even when I'm not called out on it. ;)
Can you tell me whick model # the accu-tac is?
@varminthunterhobbyist4302: how about some regular blasts of Ballistol?
👍
I have 3 Atlas bipods. Then I shot out west. Now I also have a double and triple leg Ckye Pod. Atlas is great but the Ckye Pod is a game changer. Only problem is that they are stupid expensive.
Hi Eric! Yep, if you're used to it and it works for YOU then go with it. I agree that the cost is pretty ridiculous on those MDT's...But then again, I paid them for their expensive weight kits so who am I to talk! Appreciate the view and the comment my friend!
Which accu-tac model is shown here?
@@bovver6092 the difference in 1.25" in height and that's about it. If you want higher then I'd go with the SR-5.
I need a bipod that doesn't deploy quickly, same for the legs. Also no qd. And no way to lock down the pan and cant so its always moving. All this _and_ it's gotta be super expensive.
Is that ZCO a 5-27 or 4-20?
Hi Feeto! It's the 5-27
@@The4GunGuy that's a super awesome piece of glass. I absolutely love mine.
Good comparison. Go Big Red!!!
Thanks Larry! I don't think Big Red is going anywhere anytime soon until they change a lot of things, but still like 'em! Thanks for watching my friend!
Accu-tac is the best hands down. They have models which much wider footprints for less than the $600 mdt
Hi matt! Couldn't agree more with you. So many guys I shoot with have switched to Accu-Tac because it's built like a tank, easy to use, and a lot cheaper than others. Hey, thanks for watching my friend!
Is that a 20 or 22” barrel ?
Cara pesanx gmn boz...???
Berapa harga ckye pod2?
Yang ini $ 800 tapi saya mendapatkannya untuk dijual.
The ergos of the Atlas are terrible. The Accutac feature set looks pretty great. For the money, a notched leg, swivel Harris with a pod loc is hard to beat.
Hi Magnum! I'm still running the Accutac on all my comp rifles and loving it. Thanks for watching my friend!
👍
ps: Atlas BT has a Patton on the legs adjusting 100% both ways thats why Accu-TAc and MDT legs only go part of the way.
@@DLN-ix6vf as a fellow Canadian, may I ask where you found the Accu-Tac WB-4? It sure looks like a great product to me!
The cant that COULD ;-)
Deploying the accu tac is garbage.. on the front of a heavy barrel you have to point up pull up pull out. and thats when it eats the side of your thumb off.
It's a FRIGGIN Bipod $300 Plus dollars on up for a FRIGGIN BIPOD is ABSOLUTELY INSANE.
