    Nice comparison and a point well made when you mentioned that you are comparing a $30 (current US price) bipod to a $300 bipod. I have a large selection of airguns left from closing down my store about a year ago. Many customers buying my remaining rifles want bipods, but certainly cannot justify a $300 bipod on a $300 rifle. Since airguns experience virtually no recoil, that issue of strength does not enter into the equation and these offer a cost effective way to get a usable bipod onto an inexpensive rifle. On the flip side I do have an Atlas mounted on my AA S510 Sporter and just bought an Accu Tac SR-5 G2 for my new AirMaks Katran. If you plan precision shooting with $1500-$2000 rifles, it is foolish to skrimp on the bipod. Certainly you can wring a bit more performance out of an inexpensive rifle with a better bipod but anyone who thinks they are going to achieve significantly better accuracy out of a rifle that is not designed or intended to shoot sub MOA by adding a costly bipod is deluding themselves.

    I brought the gen 2 after owning a cheap bipod and as you say until you use one you don’t know what you have been Missing out on.. I hear people on forums saying there’s no point buying a genuine accu-tac as you can buy cheap ones off eBay but they really don’t know what they are saying ! great bit of kit! Good video! 👍 I will share

      Yep defiantly, its very easy to dismiss the good stuff when the cheap stuff works, but its not until you use the good stuff you realize what your missing. Thanks for watching and sharing I appreciate it.

    Thanks for the review on the AccuTac. I have one AccuTac for all of my guns. I joke that the AccuTacs are so well build, that if you can take the animal down with the shot, then you can club it with the AccuTac because it is so sold. Also, the company was started and is owned by USA military veterans.

    • @sub12airgunners
      @sub12airgunners  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, they are very well built, you get what you pay for, I did not know that Accu-tac was founded by veterans though, good information. Thanks for watching. 👍

      Thank you for the kind words but I do want to clarifuy we are not a vet funded or started by military vets. We have a lot of respect for vets and can not claim something that is not true. The owner/designer is a regular civilian, and shooter that loves to shoot and wanted a better bipod.

    Must be frustrating for companies like Accutac that do all the R&D, just to have it ripped off. I’ll always support the genuine article over the fakes. Love my SR-5 G2, has the 5 position legs.

      I suppose so, but the Accu-tacs will always be the best, and if you look closely, you can tell the copiers have never held a real Accu-tac, they have just looked at pictures, the whole mechanism is different and the jump in quality is quite astounding, the people that want Accu-tacs are always going to buy them and I don't think anyone that's seriously considering an Accu-tac is going to see the clones as a direct replacement, there are always going to be cheap bipods and these ones simply look like an Accu-tac. The SR-5 is a beautiful bit of kit, I have the PC-4 on my birthday wish list. Thanks for watching.

      As long as you've got a few quid in ya pocket.
      Do these companies really need to charge so much, compared to the Chinese ones.

    Thanks for posting! I'm not familiar with the Accutac or the clone you have but I have a similar experience with an Atlas bipod clone. I agree that the clones, being Chinese knock-offs are not as well made as the originals but I question the difference in price. If the Chinese can make a close copy for $40 (using mostly the same materials) why is the original Atlas $400? Granted, the clone is made with the cheapest hardware and minimum machining & finishing, still the huge difference in price is hard to justify. I've found that with a bit of spit & polish (some fitting, shimming and upgraded hardware) the clone I have has been upgraded from being "OK" to being "not too bad". I bought the clone to make due for now but I am looking to buy a good bipod. For the benefit of those of us who have (totally) blown the budget on a nice airgun and scope, maybe you could revisit your clone and see what fitting and finishing it would take to bring a clone up to stuff. Cheers!

      Good points, you are paying a lot more for the real deal but you are paying for a guaranteed good product out the box. We made the clones a lot better by doing the same as you, shims, Loctite and some hand finishing but in the end we found that if we wanted it to be any more stable it would need replacement parts made for it, which at the time I wasn't going to do but we may revisit that at some point. I will say though if you can save for the real deal, they are worth it and if you ever need to sell it they sell very well, not last week I saw a good condition second hand accu-tac BR4 gen 2 go for £30 under the retail price. Thanks for watching.

      If you enjoy tinkering in the shed for hours, then why not? I prefer to spend that time at work doing some overtime and buying the real thing. I'm tight when it comes to money, but I'd always regret not getting the accu tac if I went for the clone.

    Mine has just arrived and now I need to build a bench as I was hoping to purchase the NSRA bench, but they don’t have a right handed version available and the guy who makes them cannot get any wood ! Annoying as they are solid and most others very flimsy.

    You should of returned the clone for uneven legs, loose fit and faulty clamp then do comparison. You got a clone reject...

      Yep, the made in China stuff isn't bad, but the Accutac stuff is way better, as it should be costing over 10x as much. Thanks for watching.
