The guy who asked if the player had drank a Coke or Pepsi today is because Phil Kessel, the player being asked the question, has a reputation of really liking junk food, particularly hot dogs, and coming in to camp a little bit overweight. The pigeon insult refers to a player who just hangs around the front of the net and puts away everyone else's scraps, like a pigeon would. Basically implying he has no skill himself and is just mooching off his teammates.
Also, it’s very easy to miss, but the reason giroux said “I don’t do that” is because Kessel flicked+sniffed his nose as an insult back, insinuating that giroux does cocaine (NHL #1 sport for cocaine since 2008ish), and that’s why giroux said “I don’t do that”
Guy with the blue jersey with lots of logos, yellow trim was in the penalty box yelling at a player from the opposite team sitting in the other penalty box. This clip is from the top professional tier of Swiss hockey, known as the National League (NL). In this league, teams are only allowed to dress a maximum of six non-Swiss players per game. That is why he yells, "You wouldn't even have a job if you weren't Swiss!", which is the ultimate insult in that particular league.
I would like to point out that the two guys who were really pissed off were not playing an NHL game. They were on teams in Europe. You can tell that by their jerseys. Hockey jerseys in Europe are covered in advertisements, while NHL jerseys are not.
The part at 7:14 where the guy was calling the other guy a pigeon might have been good-natured because those two players were teammates on the Philadelphia Flyers for years.
At 8:43, one of the guys on the bench calls Bellows a "kid f--ker". Apparently, at the time Bellows was in a relationship with a 16-year old girl of which her parents were fully supportive.
Canada is a country known for being "soft" and "polite" but their favorite sport is one of the most aggressive and brutal out there, and they are the creators of the NHL.. Canadians are a majority when it comes to playing hockey.. they are soft and polite, but when they get competitive, they are ruthless.
My fav chirp of all time (wish I could find the video clip): Player from Team A receives a pass for a shot on a fairly wide open net, but the puck skips just a tad at the last second and the player shoots it way high and wide into the safety net. Split second later, as the puck is clearly out of play and whistle has blown, that player and a defenseman who was about to cover him when the puck went out of play both ease up and leisurely skate around behind the net. Player from Team A smacks the back of the goalie net in frustration, and the goalie's water bottle flies off the top. Defenseman shoves Team A player a little bit, then the two come together: Team A Player: What the f***?! Defenseman: You knocked over the water bottle. Team A: It's a fekkin water bottle Defenseman: Yeah, but it's OUR fekkin' water bottle

A little fun fact. The Stanley Cup is awarded once a year to the NHL playoff winners and it’s the oldest professional sport trophy in the world. The Cup was made in Sheffield, England and bought by Lord Stanley, governor of Canada in London to be awarded to the hockey champions in Canada. The Cup is now awarded to teams both in Canada and the USA.
@@babyfry4775 I hope they don’t try to react to it though. There was a full 60 minute game somewhere in the overtime’s where neither team did anything. Brent Burns, at 38 years of age played 54 minutes that game. It was like both teams just decided “nuh-uh. I ain’t gonna. And I’ll make sure you don’t too!” for hours. I honestly cheered when Matt scored for the panthers just so I could go to sleep.
Those guys sitting on the bench yelling at each other are sitting in the Penalty Box serving a timeout for fighting with the guy he's yelling at, who is also serving a Penalty in his box.
3:20 he’s talking to another player in the penalty box. That’s the Swiss league where they have rules reserving X amounts of spots for Swiss born players. Lots of international leagues have rules like that so that their leagues aren’t just filled with Canadians/Americans/etc who aren’t quite good enough to stick around in the NHL. It helps those countries develop their own hockey programs, instead of just being filled with foreigners, etc.
There is a very funny show called Letterkenny and when they are playing hockey it's just like this. You can't understand half of the things they are saying, but you know they're profane as hell.
The best is that I can tell every player that's Canadian....haha. There is definitely an accent outside of Toronto up here...hahahahah, including the referees and coaches. This is hilarious.
In hockey, trying to get under an opponent’s skin with your words and throw him off his game is called “chirping”. The pigeon clip is probably the most literal example of this.

If you ever have a chance to go to a minor league game and sit near the visitor's penalty box, it can be a blast, chirping at the players. Some fans are ruthless, and the players are sometimes only in their teens. Lol
He's talking to a swiss opponent the swiss league only allows like 3 foreign players per team so mediocre swiss players have jobs because they can't be replaced by better foreign players
