Job well done... just a tip.. when filming with your cell phone... Click the screen where you want the camera to focus on and keep it pressed for a second.. it will LOCK FOCUS and will prevent the phone from hunting focus/pulsate in and out as seen..
I'm real curious you must have like 10,000 million subscribers or something.. always with the tips that aren't needed as you see my channel is Booming.. it's not meant to be perfect it's about headlight restoration it's not about filming or sound quality it's about the work that's being provided to a mass amount of people because it's so awesome... Yes you've heard it from the horse's mouth.. I've literally tried damn near everything and every method and even combinations of method as I always say my method is an MMA type method where I've took all the greatest points from every method and combined into one at the proper spot of the method... But nothing takes the Cake for this method.... It's very scientific and at the same time very simple and yields the highest level of results and headlight health....

Thanks, I struggled with my Eliment and hope I can follow your methods. I tried acetone and it worked some but hope I didn't ruin the plastic.
Give it a shot guarantee to work if you work the steps.. be careful with acetone strong solvent you can ruin your paint or stuff around your headlights...
I’m the third!!! How long does it normally take for you to complete a set of headlights?
For a medium size pair of headlights about 40 mins for both ..but with setting up gear and introducing yourself..etc..
Like 40min to and hour...tops...

It shouldn't.. if you're using this tape it's called Auto finish tape it's designed for vehicles and finished paint job Clear coats and such... She shouldn't have an issue with it as long as you're using the correct tape...
Also got to watch out for weak spots and use Band-Aids...

Also, have you ever tried using a compressed air duster (computer duster) to clean inside the cracks and crevasses? It was a random though I had perhaps someone has used it before.
Couple different purposes during the summer keeps you cool... But the main reason is to Force air dry the headlights and is one that drives through air exchange.. just means that the particles are rapidly expelling into the air till it turns hard you can literally smell it.. that air from the fans speeds things up..
Also it blows the dust away.. from you from going into your mask or face.. and also at times from going towards the light I just finished so I can finish my work faster...

Your videos are by far the best on headline restoration - thank you so much! I’ve been looking at links you’ve posted in description - what drill attachment/backing plate do you use for your drill? And is there a “spacer” pad between the backing plate and the sanding disc itself? Thanks again!
I use cheap throw away ones that come in most have I restoration kits. Lol they're not fancy at all there's much better ones but for me I like the lightness of them the majority all pad with a post and sometimes I get them and remove the pad the interface pad when they go bad and replace them with other ones, do them or hot glue them that's just because I do dozens upon dozens of lights with them so they they go bad the pad does..

Hi, fellow headlight restoration specialist here. Your video tutorials are great - just earned yourself a new subscriber. 😉✌️ I keep telling people the same thing about aftermarket vs. OEM headlights and often times most folks look at me as if im insane. 😂
A couple questions for you out of curiosity:
- How do you go about restoring headlight lenses with alignment pins, awkward geometry (recessed tight corners, for example), and optical protrusions?
- Do you ever follow up with clear PPF? If so, what brand do you prefer and what's your go-to method for installation?
I don't approve of PPF on headlights...for many reasons..just a couple main ones ..:
#1 you'll be loosing a significant amount of light projection ...
#2 headlights over heat which lead to permanent damage of different kinds ..
#3 it not set it and forget it..
You'll always have issues like : bubbling, corners peeling, and moisture get underneath..
#4 when you take it if 9 times out of 10 it will peel off the clear coating when removing the you need headlight restoration anyway...

You commented that in the winter it might run because it's colder out would it be beneficial to put like a hair dryer on the light just to heat it up a little bit so that last step might dry a little quicker
That's only if you do in an access amount... Which happens by mistake you have to know when to pull away... But the fan drying is the best even in cold weather the air is what's drying it more than heat..
Very intuitive video, just wondering after you applied the spray coating, do you have to wait another hour if do drive thru car wash
Good question....there is an allotted time on the back of the can... I typically don't go off that because it changes from time to time depending on the climate and the weather... I tell all people our customers while using this product or any product seal your headlights..(hopefully headlight certified product) summertime 24 hours before washing going to the car wash or even having any kind of contact with the headlights.. although the actual cure time is about 16 hours 80° heat... Even though it dries to the touch fully anywhere between 60 seconds and 3 minutes.. in the winter time as it is now, beginning of. I tell them 48 hours or 72 hours.. by time I leave they can drive or do whatever they want except for the things I asked not to.. and it's a safety precaution you got to think when you get your car payment you don't wash it for how long?????
So I kind of try to treat it similar just not as crazy... But it's pretty much functional before I leave the scene maybe they could drive do whatever they want...

No.. in some cases normally this would be the proper procedure.. when concerning headlight restoration it is not if you're using the right product such as the one I'm using in this video 3M hard lens and plastic polish. (Link in the bio) it is designed for headlight restoration and hard lens plastic.. IPA are any alcohol substance but just leave behind residue or diminished The clarity by removing a thin layer of the product Left behind specifically for clarity purposes and adhesion believe it or not.. this fills the pores and minor scratches are Nick slept behind from polishing which is why it goes clear on these videos before you start polishing.. forms a crust enhancing clarity also it would be less of a sterile environment if you used an IPA or an alcohol-based substance at this point they can't get more sterile than this heavy polishing.. you want to shoot it on right after.. and also replaces and locks in a bit of oil residue rehydrating the headlight.. create a healthy environment for the headlight....

No .. typically does not happen this way...
Did my first time ever "restore" attempt - used this "Lightrite SVN-LRK-300" Kit from Amazon - Did a solid 45+ minutes of sanding on each light - The car was garaged for 7 years, so they were not bad at all - kit comes with 400 and 600, then an alcohol wipe, and then a clear spray. The only thing I didn't like was that the spray finish has sort of a very minor satin like thing going on - you don't notice it unless you're face is within about 2' of the light... Overall I'd give my first shot at it about an 8/10. So - now that I watch this - it seems like the Megs spray they want you to really spray quite a bit more and it ends up with a more OEM clear look to it... Debating if I want to redo mine, or simply buy some Morimoto lenses, and disassemble the OEM lights and black out the chrome and all that (maybe even upgrade the stupid Fresnel style projector to the STi R style from Morimoto) - I have a 370z (Nissan had the stupid blingin CHROME Look from 2009-2015 - so it's one thing I've thought about changing...)

Hey mate, if you use generic wet sand paper instead the 3m but with the same technique and the same grits would you achieve close results? Because I’ve done like that and my headlights looked terrible after the whole process
What generic sandpaper it's going to be extremely harder to produce these typical results that I get.. I could do it myself but I'm me....
It's going to be extremely harder for somebody who's not on my level to produce what I'm doing with shitty materials....
Materials and supplies and tools are a big part of this process....

How many different grits do you use? When I am working on a model, I go all the way up to 1600, unless I’m doing an airplane canopy or car windshield. My polish is Novus.

How much do u usually charge or dose it depend on the style
Many variabilities...type of vehicle,how bad they are, how old it is,eve time of day and time of year. (Doing them in 105° vs. 75°) one or both ..etc.
I keep running across when I sand there's a coating that's hard to come off. It looks like mountains that are a bitch to get out
You will run into a lot of things doing headlights you got to figure them out...
I like your videos seem to be real and specialize on the subject. What about a brand new car that I just got from the dealer. How can I protect it from oxidation from the first day? Do you think the protection film cover will help or avoid that from happening? Or applying the UV sealant coat, or UV wax to protect the original coat? What would be the best way to protect a new car?

what does it cost to do your headlight resto? Where are you located?
It all depends... That question has many variabilities... If you're ,a shop or if you're mobile, your skill set, your portfolio, the rating on different social medias or Google, if you have your stuff together or not.. so many variabilities... Even has to do with how bad the headlight is, if it's been done before, what type of vehicle. Headlight restoration can be $50 or it can be $180 or $250 or even more it all depends... It's very difficult to answer this question truthfully honestly there's too many variables even the location of your city will vary it...
Can you also fix a crack in the lens?
It depends on how bad the crack is.. some cracks are partially through .. other cracks are all the way through and depends on the placement.. sometimes just doing a headlight restoration and coding over them will save the light for a while... The sealant kind of holds it together and stops it from breaching.. which is water vapor and dust and stuff getting inside.

What number do you put your drill on??
I used the high setting on my drill most of the time only certain sensitive areas do I slow down and I often switch between directions there's no reverse or drive in terms of doing this work it's been left or right that's it... Like I said I used the high setting but that might take some getting used to I have not always used the high setting not until I was ready to it's a lot faster pace and the risks are higher...

What do you say when your customer insists that it should be opened cuz they think the dirt/oxidation is inside?
You can't let your customer tell you what to do you're supposed to be the expert or the professional or the business.. a lot of people tell me this and I tell them no it's not 99% of the time is not.. after your evaluation you have to just tell them.. they don't tell you cuz they don't know squat.. even if they think so...
Also it's damn near impossible to open a headlight without breaking it.. at that point it's almost better to buy new ones. Cuz the attempt of opening them will take hours maybe four or five per light. That would be a ridiculous cost..

Most Honda headlights are a pain in to put in. You've got to take off so much and be careful with the chrome trim,clips, and bumper. *Sources: I'm a Honda technician*

Curious, why not just remove the entire headlight to do the sanding?
Well many reasons.. the number one reason is 100% of the damage is on the surface exposed part of the light.. therefore no reason to.. typically to remove modern-day headlights for the easy ones would take about 30 minutes.. and to reinstall an additional 30 minutes that's an hour of Labor..(much more expensive) and those are the easy ones hard lights could take over an hour to remove, in an hour to replace....about 30% of modern-day headlights you have to remove the bumper sometimes the tire and fender well just to get the headlights off...
. The number two reason.. it would triple the price of headlight restoration.. due to labor in time.. #3 the best wait to have that restoration is mobile go to wherever the vehicle may be available to do headlight restoration wherever the person may be, home, work, shopping, etc...(I do HEADLIGHT restoration everywhere, highly impractical to take the lights out for this reason to)
Even more reasons of that but those are the main..

I do it from time to time when the person has it out of the vehicle.. usually it comes from people who have got aftermarkets and they failed to put back in that's usually when I do it.. the other reason is when I come across a cheap pair of lights OEM for sale or free I restore them and sell them 😂🤣😂 brand new OEM...

Yeah NEVER go for those POS "aftermarket" lights off amazon/ebay/etc - I got some for a friend - a 2005 Camry - they turned into fish tanks after maybe 4-5 months in the Oregon weather... even when it was dry, they would still retain moisture internally...
Yeah they're pretty bad I wouldn't even want to sell a car with them in it..lol
I live in Vancouver WA and I have never had that problem with several cars Ive installed them in, and if there was ever a situation of doubt all you need to do is add new sealant (ive done to old glass ones since they don't need restoration) before installing the new headlights, not a hard job at all, less than 30min with a heat gun or just go around the outside with a clear silicone and use your finger to smooth out and get into the crevices
only garbage aftermarket headlights I know of are with the LED DRLs, and some projectors
