From the private collection of Jim Matteson, founder of Pontiac Historic Services. It underwent a nut and bolt restoration by well-known Mike Flaherty of Custom Designs LTD. It is #s matching, documented and body off restored to factory specs. It received multiple prestigious awards including Pontiac club senior Gold scoring 397 points out of 400 It was at the Meadowbrook Concourse D 'elegance and Eyes on Design shows. Pontiac has borrowed this car for display at numerous events including the launch of the 2002 collector Trans Am at Daytona with Jay Leno.
EXTERIOR: It was born in California and lived there the first 45 years of its life. It was completely disassembled and stripped to bare metal. Absolutely straight with no issues that I found. It fits spot on, doors shut like new. It was repainted its original color Mayfair Maze using high quality base and clear coat paint for the ultimate shine. It is polished like glass. The chrome and trim was replaced. The glass is in excellent shape. It has correct T-3 headlamps. It also has correct reproduction redline Wide Oval tires are on rally ll wheels that are restored to factory specs.
INTERIOR: The deluxe interior is also restored like new, and it has some nice factory features. The deluxe includes molded door panels that are in excellent shape. All the upholstery, carpet, headliner has been replaced. The dash area looks to be excellent. Some of the nice factory features are the deluxe wheel on a tilt column, a center console with a clock and a factory AM-FM radio. There's a set of reproduction floor mats on the floor too.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The engine compartment is full of very desirable features, and it is restored to what it would have looked like when it was new. That is the original 400-335 HP motor with correct manifolds, carb, rechromed valve covers and air cleaner. It's correct down to the hose clamps, vacuum lines etc. Other features include factory air conditioning, power steering and power brakes. Every component looks fresh and proper. All the metal surfaces are painted nicely. It has a Delco battery topper with spring clamp battery cables.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted as slick as the car. Inside is pristine metal and it looks like it has the factory spatter finish. It's complete with a nice fitting trunk mat, collapsible spare and jack.
UNDERSIDE: The body was removed from the frame. All the components underneath were removed and restored. The steering and suspension were completely rebuilt. It has a correct reproduction dual exhaust system with a transverse muffler, and it has the splitter exhaust tips. The brake system was completely redone, it has discs in front. E-brake cables, lines and hoses were replaced. The fuel system was all replaced. Looking up at the motor it is spotless, it has a correct starter. The original Turbo 400 automatic was rebuilt and is detailed. The drive shaft was rebuilt and detailed with assembly line markings. Original 10 bolt rear end with 3.08 gears.
SERVICE: We did our inspection and all we had to do was charge the a/c.
This is an outstanding example. Restored over 20 years ago and it still looks like it was just done. That's because they started with a clean car, and they did it the right way. Coming from Jim Matteson says a lot, he is the Pontiac expert!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.

Looks like the far right rear brake light isn’t working. I have always preferred the Firebirds over the Camaros and this one is no exception. Beautiful example and a great price. 👍👍👍

Right rare color combination, 400 with air conditioning rare too. My dad used one in the early seventies, dark blue with white vinyl top, blue interior, 400 with four speed, no console, wire wheel hubcaps with whitewalls. Back story is that he was an investigator for NY State Police, working organized crime division, car had police radio in glove box, was used for surveillance back then.

Yo Jay! Awesome ride and your inspections are always great. However, even a blind man could see that front tag bracket would not be correct hanging that low. I'm sure you have since visited the boys in the shop since then 😊

Lighten up Francis. I'm pretty sure these guys who work with and on collector cars all day long know way the hell more about them than you do, pal. Basically, other than the side vent window on the 67, it's a pretty easy mistake to make in the moment.
