Is it because I don't have the adaptive highbeams with the auto stalk that it don't work? Or it should work without adaptive high beams?
I can't speak for the c-class, but you have to have the multi beam LED or adaptive LED headlights from the factory. On the 212, and 213 it is the 640 option with 608. Just turning it on on the cluster only won't really change anything unless the headlights know what to do.

It seems straightforward in the actual coding, but how do you know which ones to choose from the options that were available? For example, if I wanted to put different housings in my car, would having just the VIN of the donor car be enough to figure out the coding? Great videos thus far, I’ve subbed..
two ways. entry xentry you can get a readout of all the names of your cars components. The other way is just select any off the components and try to connect. if its not there, it wont connect, you'll both get an error and it will ask for you to select the "variant" manually. When you get a MB system, it will come with all the folders of MB cars, so on my, in the folder "212" if contains all the modules that would normally come on all version of the w212. As for putting in different headlights, IF the hardness is the same, I would assume your just code the IGW (the main gateway i think all the computers talk to) you would just tell it what headlight you have and then you should be able to connect to your new head lights. Essentially, thats what i did in this video. My lights were 640, and i told the IGW that they were 642. This works since the MB part number for is the exact same.

My W212 is a facelift 2016 E400 with the ILS. So if I understand correctly I need to activate it to enjoy the features it has since US versions are not activated correct?
Thanks for the quick response. I'll see if my MB dealership will do this for me. Although your video is very clear how to do it, I don't have the proper equipment. Also a bit intimidated do it myself. Maybe they will activate ILS for me.
Three procedure will be similar, but the settings will not be the same. I have yet to try it on a different model, but I'd use the same method to figure it out What I did was download the codings from every module that could possibly be a part of the system. Then I search all of them for anything to do with the headlights. Using the simulation mode in vediamo, I wrote down all the possible options for those heads light options and came up with a plan To try on the car. I did each plan one at a time methodically until it worked.

I have a w212 fl vehicle. but halogen headlights. I switched to the intelligent led system, but the headlights do not work. How do I activate it for this to work? thanks for the answer.
There are two obstacles you'll have to work. One is the coating, what should be very similar to the coating in the video. The second is there's some missing wiring harnesses to the headlights that you'll have to address. I do not know anything particular about those harnesses
I have a bunch of cell phone quality videos of how it works, but the quality is pretty poor. I'm going to try to set up my DSLR camera and see if it can record the function better and then yes I will upload it. It's coming, so just subscribe and you'll see it shortly
So I've taken quite a few videos of the actual performance of the headlights, however it just doesn't show up on the camera. I'm going to try to get a lens with a larger aperture.
If you look closely at the trees on the right and left side, you can see that the high beams are on. th-cam.com/video/Abipb1YmzmA/w-d-xo.html Realize, that it looks so much better in real life, the camera just simply can't capture good
13:00-13:12 in order to change 640 to 642, all you do in the program is press on 640 and hit ECU Coding? I'm just trying to attempt to understand the entire video before I even try. I have a C218, so at 11:09 would I also go into IGW212 or do you think it'd be ending in 218?
On vediamo, If you load the wrong CBF file, it will say "no variant detected, would you like to choose variant?" If you got that message, you selected the wrong module. Mine is a 212, but some of my modules are a 172 or 231 or 204 etc. So it's not always tied to the actual model of your car. So you'll have to figure out which IGW your car actually has by seeing which one lets you connect. Anyway, once you connect, and back up of course, then see what your headlights are currently coded as. On the 212 like you saw in the video, it said "640..." So you click on "642..." and then click on the coding button. Vediamo also has a simulation mode where you can practice what you're going to do before you actually code.... I probably spent 40 hours just playing around with the program before I started. Not to mention the weeks of research. Be careful
@@ExoticCarDIY You can see all modules what You have installed in Your car in Xentry when You choose Vehicle topology, from there You can check what CBF file You need for coding.
@@ExoticCarDIY 15:51 onward, this exact coding is then done in HLI_FR212, hard resets, and finished? Does the simulation mode load up all of the modules without being connected to the car?
Hi. I did coding as shown here (except IC_204, HLI_FL212 - as I had those options already active) and the only effect was that in Auto position High Beams didn't worked at all. What went wrong?
My feeling is you missed some steps precision is key. One step at a time, Ic204 is your dash cluster menu. You're saying that it already had the option to turn intelligent light system on? On your dash cluster, if you go to settings, lights, is there an option for enabling ils? You're also saying that your right headlight was not coded for iOS but your left one was? That doesn't make any sense, both headlights need to be coded.
@@ExoticCarDIY Hi. Thanks for prompt reply. Yes I have ils and can turn this option on/off in instrument cluster. Since I have originally installed full LED lamps I checked only HLI_FL and found that settings are exactly as You sugested so didn't checked right head lamp settings. Of course I changed also corresponding settings in CGW_231 (Intelligent Fernlightsteuerung Plus and without Plus). As I wrote the only change was - not working High Beam on Auto setting, on manual High beam worked. FYI my VIN is WDD2122941A953666 (sic!). Best for you
@@piterp2376 ahh, so yours is a factory Ihc plus European car. So first thing is make sure your using it right... To get ILS, the headlight switch needs to be on auto, and the headlightstock needs to be pushed forward. If that's not working, that ya, check the igw212 and cgw231. On both you need to turn the IHC OFF, and Ihc plus ON. (I think it's in German, so "nein" and "ja" "verbaut" etc) If you match those to the coding listed in my description... it should work
@@ExoticCarDIY Hi. I did it :) I went back and traced all changes you showed on this tutorials. It apeared that I didn't checked all "Daten" in HLI_FL (R). After correcting this and resetting everything started to work as expected. Two points - will be good to underline reset type for headlamps and for camera as it is not clear in the tutorial. The other thing is when I tested this function I noticed (supporting by nervous blinks from drivers ahead ) than automatic switching of high beams to low is realised too slow. Is it a way to adjust this? Once again thanks for great tutorial. You are very good.

As far as resets, every module gets a hard reset except for the camera, it gets a soft reset.
And the headlights both have multiple options for hard / soft physical, hard/soft functional.
I did soft function hard physical.

I've coded my C43 AMG with ILS function and I have the activate ILS option in the setting menu and its been amazing the light is much much brighter and better I find all though for some reason when I out the high beams I don't really find that they adjust to cars in frount of me me I've purposely driven with high beams on and haven't really noticed any shaded patterns on cars in Frount of me or coming to my side so I don't know why this isn't happening? Is it because I don't have the adaptive highbeams with the auto stalk that it don't work? Or it should work without adaptive high beams?
I can't speak for the c-class, but you have to have the multi beam LED or adaptive LED headlights from the factory. On the 212, and 213 it is the 640 option with 608.
Just turning it on on the cluster only won't really change anything unless the headlights know what to do.

Nothing I I got from amazing road work well... Or at all. It made me have little confidence in using it on my car. On the contrary, Ben's Ninja system is almost an exact copy of a dealer system. I have no fear of it crashing or messing up cuz of some cheesy USB connection
Hello, i have a question if anyone knows, in this section " 3.VCD_Fahrzeugdatensatz_Allgemein Daten3 212M ILS SAE Change to "212M ILS ECE RV" , -> "212M ILS ECE RV" this is for right hand traffic? because of there is also another option "212M ILS ECE LV" difference is RV and LV , which one should i choose for left hand traffic ?!
It's been a while since I did it, but I'm pretty sure that the only difference is right hand traffic versus left hand traffic

That is correct. The hardware is identical, the software is different

I have yet to try it on a different model, but I'd use the same method to figure it out
What I did was download the codings from every module that could possibly be a part of the system. Then I search all of them for anything to do with the headlights.
Using the simulation mode in vediamo, I wrote down all the possible options for those heads light options and came up with a plan To try on the car. I did each plan one at a time methodically until it worked.

So you didn't use any Seed calculators, or access levels unlocks for Vediamo, right? Just no prep with Vediamo, worked right in the 1st attempt?
To do the headlights you do NOT need to do any seed calculations. Certain functions with the transmission or engine for example to change the eco mode or enable DVD while driving you need a seed calculator.
Hey man, do you know the common light issues with the E63? I got a check low left beam message on my dashboard. It is slightly dimmer than the low right beam.

So I have a W212 with the same specs as yours except for the AMG part. I followed you steps and did everything you did, but my ILS + system is not. Working, its just doing the Auto High Beam ON/OFF. And yes I have the ILS + ON in the menu.
During the HLI FR&FL coding i noticed you say to do ECE RV for both LF and RF, but I saw an option for ECE LV, shouldnt it be that for the left headlight LF?
Did you do all the resets after coding? Did you get any errors?

And lastly, how much time from when you coded till you test drove?
@@ExoticCarDIY I did all the same Resets that you did in the video. After I finished coding I checked XENTRY, and there were no codes. Still cleared it just in case.
Be careful

This was coded initially in Mercedes. In my car I have all ILS functions active by default except high beam assist. Not so experienced as You so maybe i made a mistake. I tried with Inteligent Headlight Control Plus and Intelligent head Light Control as those functions were not active (in IGW212). Of course I changed also corresponding settings in CGW_231 (Intelligent Fernlightsteuerung Plus and without Plus).
(I think it's in German, so "nein" and "ja" "verbaut" etc)
