Gintama never broke the 4th wall, it never had a 4th wall in the first place
when he said "were they breaking the fourth wall" i laughed. yeah. gintama literally doesn't have a fourth wall. the characters are all conscious that they are in a tv show and they're acting practically the entire time

*That's the unadulterated greatness of Gintama.* Absolute madness and insanity, that is full of heart, amazing characters, heart-wrenching drama and balls of the wall action that makes your jaw drop every time. Gintama somehow does every genre and throws anything and the kitchen sink at the audience just cos the gorilla author can do whatever the fuck he wants and you'll STILL be entertained and having an amazing experience 300+ episodes later.
*To anyone still on the fence, just give Gintama a chance before you inevitably kick the bucket, cos it's definitely a journey worth taking regardless if you end up like enjoying it or not.*
At 11:19 the long haired guy, his name is Katsura Kotaro but this time he said “Its not Katsura, it’s Zura!” even though he usually says “It’s not Zura, it’s Katsura!” and that itself had a whole backstory on the name Zura back to when he was a kid and at the end of the fight he said something “not giving up his title” but you wouldn’t understand it without watching the series
Katsura(桂) and Zura(ヅラ) both means WIG in japanease.
桂 is formal/standard japanease,ヅラ is a kind of slung.
and 桂 can be someone's surname in real life but ヅラ can never be.

@@nm-mq9pf In case with Zura/Katsura this difference in a familiarity, the level of attention to it, is used a metaphor for his personality. The literal meaning is just an icing on top, and thank you so much for telling it. Katsura is his formal/esacpe-the-past identity, so would it count as a meta-reference to "fake"? The scene with the parachute and Gintoki says it all.

gintama is a highly re watchable anime... if im a bit bored, i could just stream some random episode and chill.
The way it works is that it is a mix of action and comedy. The first half of the show has a lot of parodies and comedic moments with some serious arcs here and there, but the second half tuns the emotions up to 11, focusing on the lore, story, and fights while retaining the shows signature gags comedy.

The Goal of Gintama is where the main character Gintoki is a war veteran and has a dream to become a Pirate King thus and went Training with his weapon called Bankai. Before he can use his Bankai he need to past Chunin Hunter Exam with Koro Sensei as the Head Teacher they went to Planet Namek to find the 7 goeey goeey balls and to fullfill Gintoki wish to possess "Za Warudo" while singing Doremon theme, to reach his goal he encountered alot of enemies against Dark Vader while teaming up with his Gundam and along side Saint Seiya. Gintoki have a secret weapon called "Neo armstrong cyclone jet armstrong cannon" and blast his way to victory. Gintoki is not alone he has a lot of friends in the goverment like the Shinshengumi (the Seirin high in the series) and the Ninjas from the konoha village.
He went back to Japan after the space war to change his wooden sword into reverse blade sword so that he cannot kill people like he did in his past. thus the Shogun met with Gintoki for his bravery and Gintoki gave the Shogun a poop censorship to his head for respect. After Gintoki saves the world from destruction he became famous and met with international stars just like ill smith and President Donald Zuramp. but his old nemesis Takasugi ruined his moments, Takasugi is the leader of "Kiheitai" a Joui extremist faction and a wanted fugitive.Takasugi a self proclaimed rich boy with daddy issues who hates gintoki so much because gintoki didn't appreciate his legendary drink yakult.
