    • @MontMarteArt
      @MontMarteArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hi Reiss, good question! We wouldn't recommend mixing more than 25% water-mixable oil gel with acrylic paint because this can cause cracking. You'll also want to keep your coat of paint fairly thin to avoid this issue.
      To answer your question about varnish, we don't currently have one that would be suitable for this combination so you might have to do a little bit of research online. Good luck!

    • @bodyofhope
      @bodyofhope 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would personally stick with acrylics just because oils require additional purchases. I find watercolors and acrylics to be great for a budget! They can also work together! You can add water to both acrylic and watercolors (a little water to acrylic- but watercolor paints won't ruin the acrylic you've put down like oils would), and they don't require added mediums like oils do. They also dry faster, which I see as a plus.
      You can technically put acrylics on good painter's paper whereas you don't want to use paper with oils. I find them very finicky, expensive and the mineral spirits give me a headache.
      It does depend on the type of artist you are, however. Hope this helps!
