Thank you so much for being..you 🥹 You teach on such a broad spectrum,-pedagogical knowledge is a gift! Thank you for sharing it with us 🥰 Lots of love from a tiny cabin in the big forest of Scandinavia ❤️🌲❄️
I loved every minute of this video and even watched part of it with my mouth hanging open. Everybody else has used all the words I wanted to, so I'll just write - Your painting is ____________ (fill in a superlative you particularly like). As usual, I am already happily anticipating your next posting.
Wow. This is spooktacular. Did I really?? Seriously, your videos are always entertaining and informative. Interesting you guys were filming incense to get your reference. Knocked it out of the park gf!! Thanks for sharing
Yes! I finally got a chance to sit down & watch this video. So cool! It turned out awesome, & I definitely learned a couple of new things that I can't wait to try later. Thank you for doing this!
I love your art and personality for it mirrors mine! Your channel and talent got me to get over my fear of painting portraits (self taught as well). So much so… I have my first solo show next spring (all portraits)! Your painting speaks volumes! Thanks for being you!
Maybe...just maybe...if I watsh this video a thousand times...I am able to do something almost looking like that...well...maybe. This painting is amazing.
Amazing work Lydia! Is it possible to have a full tutorial of this on Patreon please (if you already have a recorded video of it)? I am really obsessed with all of your black canvas paintings!
Stunning, stunning, absolutely nailed it🙌🏻🙌🏻👌🏻🎨 It does have an oil painting finish 😁 Definitely love the glazing, it brings the piece alive❣️ South Africa has quite a crappy exchange rate which makes Golden Open a tad on the expensive side, would love to get my hands on it though, looks like so much fun. Will keep on glazing with oils... ❤
My sister would love this painting. She collects skulls including the Mexican brightly coloured skulls and precolumbian skulls. Her cloths have skulls on them, skull jewelry, etc. Talk about macabre. I love the smoke on this. Question. What was the music playing in the background? I’ve heard it before but can’t place it.
Brilliant, loved all those tips and tricks. The glaze is wonderful, love it. Happy Halloween 👻. Why do you use a scrubbing motion when applying the glaze?
Love the painting. Got the glazing medium you have a few weeks ago and really love it. Have water soluble oils trying to get brave enough to use them. Seeing your work is inspiring me to go for it.
Wow! Now I will try to master this glazing technique. Will it also work on charcoal portraits applied with clear coat varnish? I mean I will glaze it to make it colored is it possible?
Amazing! Would love to be as proficient as you are to create from Revelations in the Word. Went to art school and learned NOTHING! Hoping to learn from you. Blessings!
Hi and thank you! I always found retarders difficult to work with... Mainly because they become tacky. I like that I don't have to mix any mediums with the open acrylics to get a good blend. Also, I find the open acrylics to have a buttery feel on the canvas... More like oil paint, but not exactly.😊❤
Amazing as always! 🔥 Do you think someone would need to use any kind of stay wet pallet method with the open acrylics? I know they're slower drying but curious how much working time they actually have.
I have not had to use a stay wet palette. I've even used the same paint the next day on regular palette paper. I just lightly cover them and they last awhile. Super cool!❤
Thanks for another illuminating video. One thing, though - the number of teeth of the skull's mandible are about double what's normal. 16 teeth up, 16 down. (Dude's jaw isn't from a fish, is it??)
There's actually only 14 visible on the mandible and 9 visible on the maxilla. Just counted them. It's just the way the shadows are painted. No fishes.😁
Love the smoke lesson
Gorgeous even if you're not such a fan of skulls.
love your work... I have that same skull. Think I'll name it Lydia.... 😁
Stunning! I paint in oil and you nailed it!
very wispy floaty smoke 😀
Just found your channel and binge watched. Love the style and the way you deliver your tutorials. Thank you

Thank you Silvia!!!
Always amazed by your skill. Don't know how I missed this one, showed up in my feed today. Thank you.
So hauntingly gorgeous!!! You nailed it! That smoke, please, is so freakin realistic!! Perfect color choices too! 💀
Love this so much! 💀🖤 one of the first things my best art teacher (there were a few bad ones) did was put a skull on the table and say, draw that.

You are an incredible artist! What’s the difference between open acrylics and adding an extender or retarder?❤

what is your blending technique for acrylics
❤
What is the uv glaze you used in the sketch? It's so cool!
Hello! It's GloMania by StarmakerFX. Totally invisible until you put it under blacklight.☺
I painted the crow standing on the branch. I would love to show you what I did. How do I send you what I did?
You can email me! @ lydiabroderickfineart@gmail.com
