Great video! The side-by-side comparisons really make the point. And, it never hurts to close with a cute puppy 😀.

It's great to hear from you! It was a bit challenging to do side by side because I had to remove the ND filter every time for a scene. I think cute puppies are trending on some of the bigger tech and gadget channels? I was showing the eye tracking performance on animals with the ND filter and the puppy. It appeared to work ok! Sometimes my Xperia PRO-I has trouble focusing with certain ND filters using auto focus.

Great video, filters really do make a big difference. Xperia event is coming soon, May 17,2024. Can you imagine if engineers came up with inbuilt physical filters upgrade?

Thank you! ND filters are an important tool for recording video outdoors in bright light, especially on smartphone cameras with limited or one aperture. I'm excited for the Xperia event because I want to see if the Xperia I VI will adapt the aspect ratio that has been floating around for awhile. If it does, it may become more difficult to handle as a camera but better for smartphone use. I feel the 21:9 ratio on the Xperia line makes it one of the best smartphones for handling when it comes to photography and videography, not just for watching content!
I've used Sony smartphones for a long time now and they always seem to prioritize slim frames with balanced aesthetics, even if it means sacrificing some performance to avoid horrendous looking devices. Everything needs to flow and look balanced on a Sony smartphone. I think adding in a filter adapter will disrupt that, just as using the full 1.0 sensor on the Xperia PRO-I would have meant a larger lens and housing. I'm ok with it because I dislike the gaudy camera setups from companies such as Xiaomi and Oppo. Now if they could make an accessory like the filter/battery grip from the Xiaomi Ultra 13/14, that would be perfect! I know Sony can. And they know smartphones with limited apertures need an ND filter for bright scenes because of their history making cameras and lenses!

At $999 do you think the Xperia PRO-I is worth buying in 2023?

    • @thefitlifechannel2021

Yes it's still an excellent smartphone in 2023! Now that it can be bought for under $1000, it's worth its selling price, especially being the only smartphone (besides the Xperia line) with a physical shutter button. However it has some chronic issues which make it difficult to use in temps above 30C degrees. It overheats quickly when recording video or pics and may even shut the phone down. It becomes so hot that I can't even touch it. Its screen also isn't bright enough for sunny environments and can be difficult to view setting when taking pics and recording videos.
However if you will not use it in those conditions, I highly recommend it. I will do an extensive review on it in a few months. I'm just waiting for a lens being repaired at Sony so I can record it. Let me know if you have any more questions!

yeah the overheating issue would shut me down
I did two 30+ minute walkthrough videos in Hawaii a few months ago on my LG V60 , no problems at all
I went ahead and just got another used LG V60 off ebay for $160
My old one the back glass was broken and was exposed to water after that too long
It still works but shuts off even at 100% battery when I let it idle
Just no replacement for the LG V60 these days , at least no modern version.

@@TheAgentAssassin It seems like the great phones and companies that did almost everything right don't last long like LG and Nokia. I even liked the OS from Microsoft Windows Phones, it was the smoothest and had the most logical setup compared to Android. Yes even the Samsung Note 20 Ultra I use along with my Xperia PRO-I in 30C+ temps has no issues at all. I think the RX100VII sensor, slim body and inadequate cooling system is the issue. I'm just curious why they couldn't throw in the cooling system from the Xperia PRO. It might have allowed it to take pics or record longer in higher temps. I would be happy even just getting 20mins of record time out of it!!!
