A little more context for Mordekaiser, 'the guy too angry to die': when he was alive, the muthafucka was a really violent conquerer who believed his exploits would earn him a spot in the afterlife not too dissimilar to Valhalla in norse mythology i.e. he thought he would be living up the good afterlife drinking beer and partying for all eternity. But when he died, he discovered the afterlife was barren and boring. And instead of wallowing in despair, the guy got pissed off and decided he would conquer the afterlife instead and use the army of the dead to try to continue his conquest of the world of the living. He just has to find a way to come back
Lmao that is just glorious
@@KorotoTV "Wait, the afterlife is boring and empty?" *respawns in cringe*
@@KorotoTVit's even better, his kingdom is built entire of people's souls, when he kills someone if they're strong they will be part of his undead army, if they are weak they will join the foundation that build his kingdom, no wasted soul
Dude is fucking metal
RIOT is what Blizzard used to.
ps: Excited to meet the three world boss that will shape Runeterra, Viego, Mordekaiser.. and World ender Aatrox
20:56 That passageway is literally Piltover and Zaun. You're hovering the mouse over the Arcane map
26:32 Those aren't flame orbs. Those are stars. Aurlelion Sol is a celestial god who treats the universe like a garden and stars like flowers. He's the Star Forger
34:01 I do feel compelled to mention that one of the LoL champions is an archaeologist: Ezreal. There's even an academic archaeological society in Piltover. I don't know what this means for the riot mmo, but I just thought it was worth mentioning
It would be awesome if Riot made an entire class or subclass for the lore people, so we can just get xp from exploring and discovering ancient artifacts etc
Imagine you're just walking through the Freljord and way off in the distance you see that giant disfigured Watcher frozen in a glacier.
Nah, Watchers are in the Howling Abyss, you can't see them just like that, but would be cool if we could see Balestriders at the distance.
26:02 That's an augmented/cyborg cat. It's actually a card in Legends of Runeterra called 'Cunning Kitten'. You should look it up
The watchers were frozen by Lissandra on the Howling Abyss so RIOT could opt to actually never have them released seeing as Lissandra does everything to keep the watchers frozen to keep them from destroying reality.
TBF I always thought it would be cool if we can fight a watcher but only a tiny unfrozen pinky finger and it could be one of the hardest bosses in game.
Edit: or maybe even just a piece of hair.
Watching your reaction at the little montage at the end makes me hype to watch your reaction to Riot mmo raids from necrit, it goes into so many cool story lines we can see in possible raids cant wait fro you to see it
8:35 this is an example of what is going to be retconned (most likely), she's seraphine, a newer champion that got a lot of backlash because she didn't look like a champion from piltover, but like a magical girl (or star guardian) for some reason, that's when Legends of Runaterra (card game) enters and re-designs her (8:57) with a new appearance that fit the universe a lot beter, with a more distinctive piltover outfit consisting of leather and belts rather than that weird glitter dress
That all stands, but the main problem with her right now is all the Bracker soulstones. Since that part is getting removed, she'll need a pretty extensive rewrite. Along with almost every hextech champion.
Skins are still an alternate universe, for the most part, but they never really impacted the core universe, even before the unification. Think of it like themes that allowed Riot to give some coherence to skin lines. So while there might still be a cyberpunk city with cyberpunk versions of characters, it never has anything to do with the main universe. People were disappointed with how many versions of this one, supposedly consistant, universe existed, and it got tiring that the reaction to any new lore was "but is it canon?", so mashing them all together is probably the best decision they could have made.
To be fair everything riot makes is all a big advertisement for there moba game and now its for the mmo so fans are eating good
If you want to have a taste of the world, there's two type of short cinematics you can watch without having to react to the whole catalogue, the highly anticipated Season Cinematics (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022) and these ones that show you every region of the universe in short stories with the arcane art style "Tales of Runeterra", I think there are like 8 of them.
26:33 Thats Aurelion sol a playable champion in game whos lore is that he is the creator of everything basically
i don't think he created everything. He was created along with everything, so he was there at the beginning of the universe. He's the Star Forger, the guy created a lot of the stars in the universe including the sun that Runeterra orbits around. What makes him powerful is that a lot of celestial beings attach their identities to constellations, and if Asol can create stars than it's quite feasible that he could create and destroy the other gods if he wanted to.
But he can't do that anymore because, for all intents and purposes, he's currently 'trapped' on (around) Runeterra.
35:00
You don't seem to remember, but you learned about this in the "MMO is already done" video. Lissandra the ice witch is keeping them frozen so they can't destroy reality, and very she's willing to kill anyone that comes snooping around, that might upset that situation. So she's trying to save the world, but generally portrayed as a villain if encountered. OH, she's the one you said looked like a Warframe unit 😝
23:32 Kinda. Not really. There's no solid 'Age 1, Age 2, etc'. For the most part the easiest way to segment the world history of Runeterra is with different wars and conflicts.
In regards to the villains, for all intents and purposes, they all exist in the world at the same time. But chronologically they entered the universe at different times. That anime Arthas, Viego, is old but he's not super old. There are many other bad guys who are helluva lot older than he is
Another genius thing about Arcane and the MMO is that due to the fact that Riot released the news about both Arcane and the MMO lead to such hype that a lot of people who fell in the trap of "I watched Arcane and I want to play League" were told "no dude, league is not worth, wait for the MMO", which is essentially a colossal amount of free marketing and building a brand-loyal player base
You should check out some of the cinematics for sure. Warriors and The Fall are my recommendations.
21:10 that passage is piltower and Zaun. that is where Arcane happens
a large part of me hopes that with the second season of Arcane coming out next year there's an announcement about the riot mmo. Whether it be earlier in the year or during Arcane 2 a tease of a trailer OR a straight up trailer.
EDIT: There will also be a lot of crafters/gatherers I'm assuming. Greg confirmed fishing and I really doubt they'd ONLY have fishing as a non fighting class lol
They are setting themselves up well, and I hope they can cash it in. Like you said, good world building takes time. There's a reason it took Tolkien 20 years to write "Lord of the Rings" after writing "The Hobbit."
I wanted to help add some context
A lot of League skins aren't canon and they only exist within the skins own universe, example the Infernal skin line aren't actual Infernal versions of champion's that have existed at any point in time of the base lore of League but rather in the Infernal Universe this is what these Champions might look like.
For example of skins that are canon in the base lore those are ones like Captain Miss Fortune, Captain Gangplank, and Gangplank The Betrayer which are all new designs that characters have or had based on the lore.
At 20:55 you ask about the bridge that connects the northern and southern continents and the simplified lore is, Oshra Va Zaun, the city in the southern continent, wanted to connect to the northern continent and long story short a lot of explosives went off and it sunk Oshra Va Zaun into Piltover which is the city in the Northern Continent, and that it how and why Zaun is under Piltover. This happened roughly between 6000 and 5000 BN, BN stands for Before the founding of Noxus.
Glad to see it being cohesive, the other universes should straight up only be for EXPLICITLY alternate universe stuff for skins or other content material that is not meant to fit in with the mainline universe. I doubt Riot would want to get rid of the creative fun they have making those skin lores.
Time to watch "MMO Raids" from Necrit ;)
ummm, bosses and raids reaction pls
Soon™ 😂
Olaf and Volibear battle its tipically a megachad battle 😂
Did you watch Arcane Koroto?
Yup, only once when it came out though, so I'll definitely be rewatching in time for season 2.
Runescape has implemented archeology skill btw
WoW has it too, it's just extremely monotone and boring 😅
I want something new and super exciting. Like you find a old map and some sort of artifact that opens up entire questlines that lead into some sort of secret areas ala Elden Ring dungeons etc. (That is never happening, but a man can dream)
@@KorotoTV It would be so hard to get it right tbh, if they do, then Riot is just 5 steps ahead of other companies 😅
well love to see your reaction to league cinematic
7:35 no no no this debate was never about skins, they already have their explanation of being multiverses (there are some that represent changes in the champ's lore). There is literally a skin of a character that crosses universes, it came out years ago and it already justified the skins as multiverse, it is said that he has been in the universe of every skin that has ever come out and will come out
Riot is just trying to make everything consistent for when they release their MMO. Once the MMO is released everything needs to make sense and be worked out before hand. The Worlds back story will probably be based on certain most popular major Champions. Minor Champions the story can change a bit to make things consistent.
You need to watch the cinematics.
new follower here
You should watch the Cinematics at this point. copium*
Aurelion Sol is beautiful isn’t?
