36:40 The answer to this is magic. Ixtali magic is far more advanced than the rest of the world. While different regions have different relationships with magic and how they learn it (or lack thereof), in Ixtal, learning magic is somewhat comparable to learning calculus with different mathematical symbols, diagrams and "axioms" associated with the craft. Also, when Necrit says "underdeveloped", he means narratively. Ixtal is one of the newer regions introduced to the lore with very few champions associated with the region
It depends what kind of magic though. Ionian spirit magic is far more advanced than Ixtal's because Ixtals doesn't have spirits. They don't have hemomancy either, nor the level of mastery of some mages in the Freljord like Lissandra who basically froze a third of a continent just to keep the Watchers from invading reality.
@@louisrobitaille5810 Spirits are not really an indication of advanced magic. The reason why spirits are a thing in Ionia is more a geological phenomenon than a product of advanced education. The veil between the spirit realm and the material realm is notoriously thin in Ionia. That's why Ionians are good with spirit magic, because they have a geography that accomodates and promotes that kind of magic. Setting aside that fact most, if not all, elemental magic is derived from the spirit realm anyway. Something that most Ixtali mages specialize in Hemomancy is heavily implied to be dodgy magic i.e. magic you don't want to fuk with. So being a master practitioner of blood magic isn't exactly a big a flex as you might think it is. Mages like Lissandra? Lissandra's power is not exactly commonplace in the Freljord
for seasonal event there is one people knows its spirit blossom festival. a festival dedicated on celebrating those who past taking to them by eating a fruit from a spirit tree in ionia
34:34 there's an annual in lore event ( i don't know if its equivalent to in lore month of November either) in which the undead of the shadow isles spills out of the island and attacks bilgewater. It's called thr Harrowing and it was previously their event every Halloween back in the day before they retconned the old lore
Rottening corpses turn all kinds of colors like blue and green. Hense necro magic follows those colors. Purple might be tied to corruption being historically the color of royalty.
It’s not the main place everyone would be playing having one striking color like red for most of the plants would give a nice change of pace and feel special and it’s probably many different colors there, talking about Ionia.
Well, there are still a few champions without any lore. That's because they're some of the really old champions they have. They will think of something for them eventually, like they did with the several other champions they reworked.
for seasonal events there are 2 that are known to occur on a regular basis in the world (aka seasonal) 1st is the spirit blossom festival. though mainly practised in ionai it's mainly an event to honor the spirits and comunion with the dead. 2nd is the "harrowing" an event "celebrated" that mainly occurs in Blidgewater (the pirate town) that is the time where the mist from the shadow isles takes over the bildgewater it's a seasonal event in game that happens at the time of holloween but is very different in the world then the usual pumkins and the like. however there are no seasonal events that corelate to our world (aka there is no christmass event in the universe) but that doesn't mean riot hasn't done events to celebrate those events in our world. mainly in old league time there was a winter themed map and a holloweed themed one but they stopped doing it. we still get new skins to celebrate those events but that's about it. 40:20 when ti comes to this world some color coordiantion is at play besides the obvious corelation that it needs to cater to our world. the reason why the color of undead in the world is blue comes from it's origin that of the duality of the waters of life (which are pale blue like all water) and the combination of the blue magic present in the other component that created it that being the magical sword of the ruined king titled Senctaty which magic is also blue when it comes to corruption being purple i think that comes from our world in the fact that purple isn't a natural color and is very rarely seen.
When it comes to expansions and zones. I’m more for something different as in the full world is available at launch Atleast what we know of rk. And they change and alter existing areas as expansions release. Sort of how the map changes from season to season on Fortnite but on a much larger scale
N doubt that would be very cool but just imagen if wow hade the first 4-5 expansions included in the basegame thats the minimum amount of work that would be needed to bring this entire world to life. I love the ide however not even MMOs can be that big at launch without being stuck in development for 15-20years.
please absolutely just start with one region and limit it to that region before you move on, at the end of each champion lore tab, riot suggests a few champions that have a heavy link with the character you just read about. most fascinating areas for me were - Darkin, Ascended, Freljord and their 3 main tribes.
i know he said that piltover and zaun should be expansions but i think they should be part of the base world. if they are not then they would have to be the first expansion, why? cause as a demacian how would you get to ionia? go through noxus space and board a noxus ship? plus as he said yea it would add some but do you really think its enough as a expansoin? or how about the size of any of the other areas he named? plus arcane season 2 should be out in 2024 and the mmo in 2026-2027. the first expansion should be about a year later. kinda missing the boat there. just make sense to make it part of the base world. a expansion just to be a expansion doesnt.
My take on it is that it should be the first (tutorial) region we see. It is already a hub for trade where people from all regions can come through, effectively allowing everyone to play whatever race/background they want and it still make some sense. It has the HexGates so it will already be the Fast Travel hub to different regions, and as new expansions come in it can get teased as a new gate starts getting built in the city. Piltover already doesn't have anything to do in it, so it can be a tutorial region where most of the action will be when our beginner quests take us down into Zaun. It also has the Shuriman temple that could serve as the tutorial dungeon. The enemies are limited and so is the region itself which is what tutorial regions are supposed to have. You will only find lvl 1-10 enemies challenging once, so they should be in the smallest region to give us more variety for the creatures we'll have to grind with later on. Timing-wise they can release the game after S2 (cynical take) or S3 is released for maximum hype ("Hey you like Arcane, now you can PLAY in that city with this new MMO"). It just seems perfect to me, idk.
@@therren9981 This is the perfect take in the start of the game, because if you look at any of the regions, Piltover and Zaun look like the "most fragile" place, they have humans, semi-humans (like yordles), cyborgs, robots and... drug addicts, that's it, there isnt a demigod, a celestial being or anything that could end the reality with a finger snap like Thanos, you will fight things that are relative easy, and they have trade with all the other places, so they can expand the game to any place after.
@blazehnt Yup! The only celestial/Demi-God around is Janna (I think Zaun is her patron city? For those who don't know the lore, at least as long as they keep this part, she saved a lot of Zaunites from the river Pilt drowning them after the government tried to use explosives to make the river channel we see a lot in Arcane)
A lifetime ago I was playing an MMO back in the early days called Star Wars Galaxies. Great fun I was the mayor of a thriving town we had built up and it was great. Then half my town disappeared to go play in the beta of some crappy new mmo. I couldn't figure out how this new game was even going to work since it was based off an RTS game that I had played. Sure that RTS was fun, I played it a lot but I couldn't see how you turn something top down like that into an MMO like SWG or EQ. Just didn't make sense. So I didn't even look into that crappy MMO for almost a whole year while I fumed about how it stole my whole guild and town away. But eventually I gave in and tried out World of Warcraft and was pretty impressed. Now I look back and realize that all the biggest most successful MMO have built on something previous. I am not sure MMOs are 'made', it seems more like they are 'grown.'
Bro goes from i want to be this, and this and small strong fighter. Into shuriman from nexus living on top of ice mountin 🤣. Nice. Like youre reaction.
I would absolutely love if the first player (or a few of them, but if so, then extremely limited number of them) who managed to ascend mount Targon would become a new aspect. Like, make me lose control over this character and ascend them into a celestial god and I'm gonna be extremely happy
I love how WoW players think that they know MMOs, come talk to us "Nameless" Guild players from the original EQ online.... Even Language was a thing when you had to travel to a town... +1 for those that auto swam into a wall to skill up swimming.
I think its early celebration is naive. All i see are perfect illustraitions of ideas. Those concepts DO look good. But before any ingame footage, its quests, world lore, hyping it is a 100% guarantee of disappointment. Just the lore and quests and Environment doesnt make a game succesfull for a broad playerbase. I am curious if they can deliver what they set out to do.

@@chrishaven1489I agree
Ixtal is elemental magic, and necrit says a lot of bs
Absolutely loving Koroto enjoying the bizarreness of runeterra
please watch more necrit videos about the mmo, they are 100% worth it
This is something im very excited for
for seasonal event there is one people knows its spirit blossom festival. a festival dedicated on celebrating those who past taking to them by eating a fruit from a spirit tree in ionia
Riots MMO will be just as successful as early Wow. Mark my words. (Also FF14 is already better then wow.)

I wish more games got he arcane treatment like engine if world of Warcraft got an adaptation like arcane?!?!!
If you are interested in the lore as a whole necrit is your guy, he has a timeline video that is amazing, watch his mmo content aswell of course

15:09 if they are smart they will do it like WoW classic you start off as nobodies and slowly become heroes over time.

34:24 Yes, but they're not like ours (obviously). Spirit Blossom in Ionia is an example (see Kin of the Stained Blade cinematic).
Halloween in LoL is the harrowing The invasion of black mist and undead from the shadow isles all over runeterra
The idea you're slow in full plate is a fallacy
