My transmission does not have digital output. It’s a mechanical speedometer cable from 1983. But ya that works for 1996 and newer vehicles. That might not work for some classic cars like mine
Can an ECU through the OBD2 port be connected to an instrument cluster, all from the same vehicle? Got a 2018 L83/6L80E in a 1972 C10. One guy in Canada is said to be working on it.
Kinda curious about something.. iam thinking about to swap out the complete speedometer stuff from my dash.. and make it completely digital.. i know its possible with some elbow grease and good spirits.. but the question i have.. do those apps also show the blinkers when using the blinkers? Not sure if iam saying it right cuz iam not english native
95 is a crossover year. If it was made in later part of 95 if might have obd2 compatibility. Technically OBD2 didn’t appear until 96 but I had a 95 firebird and it was OBD2 compatible. I think there are different plugs under the dash so you should be able to tell just by looking at the plug under the dash. Usually you can find the build date in the drivers door jamb. If it’s OBD1 I’m not sure how to make that work, may not be possible
@@mun33y I had the 2005 L59 but I used a 2001 LM7 wire harness so I didn’t have my oil sensor swapped to the old style at the time. With the OBDLINK via my EFI OBD2 port. One single data wire plus power and ground . My OBDLINK communicates via Bluetooth and connects to my Bluetooth android head unit
Looks a lot more straightforward than Torque Pro, looking forward to installing. Have you seen any issues with calculating MPG? Torque Pro's initial guess for my V6 turbodiesel was half what I actually get and Torque forums talk about adjusting equations and shit (which I can do but WTF). Maybe RealDash will do a better job.
RealDash is a much better presentation 🙌🏽 if you ask me , and it has support for aftermarket EFI CPUs . There is a setup wizard where it asks you the engine size and tire size so I assume the equations are quite relevant but I never monitored the MPGs much 🤷🏽♂️ the mileage was and is great with the 5.3 and the light aerodynamic 3rd generation f-body .
Yes it can be modified and customized. I think the lights and flasher might work on newer vehicles with canbus compatibility 🤷🏽♂️ but I’m not sure about that part.
I’m not sure. RealDash can accept several different input types and it also accepts aftermarket ECU’s so it IS very possible . Typical generic input is OBD2 but I know my favorite app RealDash is very compatible with aftermarket ECU’s and input types ✅ maybe download the free version or look it up and you’ll see which ECUs and input types are compatible

Actually it’s pretty good for one of the cheaper models. However I did try a cheap ELM 327 Bluetooth OBD2 device a while ago and it was causing my gauges to be laggy even on a smartphone, so I got rid of the cheap no-name ELM 327 device and now I’m using a OBDLINK device with the android radio and it’s pretty good.
