I never had a true appreciation of wind and string instruments until I had this song cranked up on my Concord car stereo back in 78. The instruments on this whole album are incredible. You have to listen to it loud. My favorite album of all time.
I remember being ten years old in 1977 and saving up my hard-earned allowance to buy a vinyl copy of "Out of the Blue". Being that it was a two-record set, it was a little bit of an extravagance for a fourth grade kid's budget. Wish I kept it now.

I wish I would have known ELO back in 77 when this came out. I love Jeff's music for the most part and his concert in the Amele Arena in Tampa was a once in a life time treat. He has got to be the greatest composer I have ever seen. Thanks for this great body of work!
Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of a beautiful adolescent girl (tomboy type) that long had a crush on me. It all began back in grade 3 we were not in the same class, but she came onto me in a playfully aggressive way I mean, I couldn't help but know her, she wouldn't leave me alone even though I sometimes mistreated her, but I never took advantage of that opportunity because I was shy of her, but deep down inside I loved her. And eventually I abandoned her when I dropped out of high school when this song was released....I wasn't very nice to her, and I sometimes still regret that even to this day.
