    I honestly just think that LSS designed Rosetta and wanted to make a limited that had no AB to make it fun, but didn't think about what that would mean for the wizard card pool (aka make it suck ass). So they designed the heroes for limited and low amount of Arcane, which isn't what a Wizard is so they leaned more into the Elemental portion of the hero and we ended up with heroes that are Wizards simply because they use our crappy equipment (well, our gloves, Oscilio doesn't even use the boots).
    I was extremely hyped for Rosetta and the "all arcane set". After two years of hype about it, it turned out that the all arcane set forgot to bring arcane damage and was super focused on physical damage.
    I really hope that all the new prevention effects are a sign that LSS is cooking something crazy for us to play with, but at this point, after the let down of the hyped "all arcane set", I'm doubting it will happen.
    I think that FLoodgate is actual too good for the health of the class, specially Kano. It is such a powerful effect that you have to focus on making it happen to get your wins and any new card would be played with it in the deck to fuel a combo with it. I think it is restrictive in both design space for LSS and deck building for us. I hope LSS print something for us and ban it on release of the new card (but not until then, it's like one of 3 good cards we have).
    I also think of Oscilio as a bad version of a Runeblae (not Aurora though, she's more like a Ninja) and Verdance is definitely an Arcane Guardian.
    I understand that balancing Wizard, specially if you want them to feel like wizards and be focused on arcane damage, for a limited environment is probably an extremely difficult task that they achieved in Rosetta. It just cost Wizard it's lass identity and the set it's impact in constructed (for the class). If that is the reason the set was so bad for Wizard, they should stop making Wizard in draftable set and just make a few expansion slot cards for us every set and a Master set every other year. Many players are talking about how Guardian doesn't have a class identity now that Brute equipment blocks like crazy and how bad they are doing in the meta, but Wizard is fresh out of a support set and doing worse. At least the guardians had Victor doing well during the Heavy Hitters meta.

      @@roguenoob see a lot of people commenting on here and on the discords like oh they can't make good wizard cards because that would make Kano LL I'd rather have him gone and make the remaining wizards playable. I'd rather have wildfire band and then make pitch that Kano a thing so he's don't have to worry about pure combo, but I can't do pitch deck cuz the game's too quick and there's no good way to kill without wildfire with Kano

      @@roguenoob I also agree with all your statements about how they designed Rosetta they could have just added nullarune at the token slot and made better wizard cards. If not, token slot in the pre-release kit

    i think the real problem is that surge is to arcane damage what crush is to physical damage, but wizards don't have anything like dominate and the cards pitched to defend arcane damage aren't discarded like you would when blocking

      Good point. If you can't close the game they just get the cards back and you only delayed the power turns

    I think surge is supposed to be a wizard crush effect, but the problem is it's not.
    Crush still works if the opponent doesn't interact, if you had a 5 damage arcane card that said if this does 2 or more damage: xyz then it would be good actually.
    My hypothesis is that LSS are releasing the answers to the future problems (more than in pervious sets/years). They did this with CYB and other graveyard effects like up sticks and run/daggers by printing gravekeeping, the mystic transcend card and a few others.
    Following this logic, all the prevention cards they are adding in expansion slots (assassin, mech, gaurdian, ranger etc) leads me to think that some sort of wizard stuff is coming.
    If they printed the good stuff before you can deal with it is unhealthy for the game.
    This sucks because the heroes you like will suck for longer before LSS put the right tools for other heroes to deal with your new cards.

    The more Wizards are unusable in the meta, the more I ACTUALLY HAVE SPACE IN MY SIDEBOARD FOR ACTUAL DECKS
    So yeah, thank you LSS, keep Wizards bad please

    as a Wizard player I don't agree that we should get on hits with powerful effects... the difference between a snatch and a wizard spell with the same effect - is that you can always block the snatch with more cards to ensure it won't hit... the arcane damage - you can't - meaning that arcane damage is by default - a dominated attack.
    if it was a mechanic that would be blocked the same way we block physical damage - every wizard card would have dominate by default.
    and I agree that - by itself - it's not that impactful... it'd only come up when the game is super late and life totals are low - and versus fatigue decks - because they'd be on a real timer.
    I don't think the solution would be to make cnc but arcane, or snatch but arcane, or on hit discard but arcane.
    And I agree that they aren't super playable right now - but that's the case with a lot of decks and classes. - What about brutes right now? sure Kayo is alright... what about Ranger? - Azalea is playable, sure... same with wizard - Verdance is unplayable, Kano is a bit too RNG and doesn't have a solid plan - but Oscilio is playable and definitely alright.
    On that topic - Oscilio is much better than you give him credit for. Aurora doesn't have the same combo - the only reason you put gone in a flash in Aurora i so you can play really good 2 card hands. while in Oscilio - you have the consistent gameplay loops of normal wizards where you poke with some damage and you have the big combo to take control of the game.
    In my opinion, Oscilio is the best designed wizard and the one that truly embodies the class in the modern game.
    Kano is the original wizard - a class that is hard to block out, has multiplicative damage, and relies on a combo in one turn to take the tempo of the game or win on the spot.
    Oscilio is the modern wizard - his damage is hard to block out and his physical attacks and non damaging cards let you cast an unlockable spell with an on hit effect (mind warp is the best example - as long as it's amped it takes a card from the opponent's hand and if you amp it enough - they can't even chose to keep the hand)... and he relies on a combo turn to forcefully take the tempo of the game back in his hands or even win on the spot.
    What you're asking for is Kano but voltic bolt is cnc... play assassin - they have exactly that - but balanced. (side note - assassin is my second favorite class, and what I'm playing now that wizards aren't too hot - and because it's a new set around assassin).
    Lastly - you seem to be super into Verdance - I get it - you don't like the "combo" part of wizard - you like the defensive/pitch stack/value part... sure - now is not the correct time to play that sadly - but you can always have fun at the armory level... and this meta will come up at some point - Iyslander was the best deck 2 years ago... Oldhim was insane before he rotated... Enigma is tier 1 right now (and probably the premier control choice). Ice is due to return soon - we haven't had it for a while and Jarl is playable now - so most likely we'll get some Ice this year - and then everything will be flipped. Aggro players will complain and make these videos instead and we'll be in the comment section explaining this exact thing and reminding them of MST with Zen and Rosetta with Aurora etc.
    TLDR: no, wizards aren't badly designed or LSS doesn't hate them - they are just not an entry level class and right now it's not their time (all classes can't be the best or great at all times).

      @@vasilboev1383 I love the combo parts of wizards! I don't think Oclio is a bad hero or designed bad his play patterns are not in line with what I think a wizard is. On hits for cars don't have to be super strong. I just want my damage to mean something. If I'm only doing one damage a turn I would love for it to do something. I have not seen or played against much cilio but what I have seen is gone in a flash combos

      @ if you’re “doing 1 damage” something is wrong - or you’re not really evaluating the cards correcrly.
      You’d have to be playing blue zaps and blocking with 3 cards every cycle to achive this - obviously, not how you’re supposed to play.
      Now, if you’re saying “I played a scalding rain, and they AB3, so I dealt 1 damage only” - no, you took a card from their hand.
      “But it goes back into the deck” - yes, but they invested half their equipment in order to have the opportunity to do that… and you’re still up on that trade because you’ve dealt unblockable damage.
      Wizard’s whole deal is to survive until that big combo that takes the tempo and the game. When you sit against a Kano, you’re not starting with 40life - if you brought AB0, you’re starting with a turn clock that expires the moment they find a wildfire, blazing and 3 blues… somewhere between turn 0 and whenever the game ends… if you bring AB 1 - you start at about 9 life. AB3 - about 20ish.
      Same with Oscilio - the absolute nuts Osvilio combo does over 60 damage- but a reasonable one will force the hand and do like 15 damage. - so you’re technically starting at sub 30.
      If Verdance stacks 3 healing pots 3 rampant growths and everything perfectly - she deals over 60 damage through any amount of AB
      Any chip damage you do before your combo is super meaningful… and the opponent can literally not block it all… it’s a guaranteed win if you set it up and you’re a bit lucky… but in theory every one of the legal wizards can stack an unblockable, unstoppable combo that wins the game.
      The problem is - right now - you need to be more lucky because it’s not plausible to survive long enough to stack - so you’re forced to play at the aggro deck’s pace and make deck choices for aggro decks… so your control marchups suffer badly because you can’t play for 2nd cycle or 3rd cycle for the unstoppable combo because your deck can’t be built like that or it dies to the top aggro decks.

      @@vasilboev1383 This is why my Verdance deck is combo only, it uses life gain to stay in the game, blocks well, and is an all arcane build. Even into aggro decks it holds its own. Its a glass cannon, but that to me is what a wizard is all about, its not so much about just throwing bits and pieces of arcane, its about lining up a big combo and hitting for unblockable damage.

    Wizards just seem so difficult to balance. The fact that arcane can only be stopped by prevention and specific keywords like AB means a good wizard in the meta would completely monopolize the sideboard of every other deck.

      @@gerharddamm5933 You're not wrong. It's kind of hard to balance classes like these where the only interaction is at the equipment level other than prevention effects. I just want my one damage to mean something cuz then every other deck. If you do one damage something happens

    Oh and I heard somewhere that, and I don't know if this is true, the team for assassins is the same team for wizards.
    I just hope they will release good wizard stuff after all the appropriate prevention is printed

    you must have played today. wizards have always schooled me 80% of the time. i started collecting when monarch but started playing when everfest came.
    wizards are good. just have to pilot good

    Your gears are turning. I feel like they wanted fair wizards and instead they made bad wizards. The surges don't work well ab 3 shuts verdance down hard. There is a meet in the middle of busted ass blaze kill you on your turn in one shot and unplayable earth ping you for 1. If you could threaten 7-8 arcane somewhat consistently every turn be able to block and have 1 or 2 pop off explosive turns it would be right on par with any a or b tier hero

      ​@@HamMan215I've played Kano since I started playing during Tales of Aria and wizard usually gets the short end. The reason for this is because if they gave us actually good combos then everyone complains that wizard doesn't play the game right. Lol. I think they needa make some midrange wizards that can actually throw some good damage. Iyslander w.o the oppression maybe?

    My thoughts about your card suggestions:
    I think growth spike is quite overtuned and would lead to some sad times for example guardian, where you get the channel tree down, play this for 6, make 6 embodiments and then block a crippling crush for 9. It reminds of of pre errata briar where she got an embodiment of earth on hit. I agree we need decompose earth cards though so I made: 2 for 4 arcane, decompose, create an embodiment of earth. I think the deal with decompose is that it should provide a small upside immediately but remember that decomposing adds to your gameplan of 8 earth banished. Maybe it could be changed to 1 for 4.
    One with nature: I don't know how I feel about this, it's kind of just another heartbeat of candlehold? But worse? Sure you can double dip on the damage, but it also doesn't synergise with rampant growth. blue block 3 earth card tho so probably good.
    Arcane dew: I quite like this, I think you could push it a little more, since arcane conduit is in the game and that is action 2{r}: deal 2 arcane damage, and arcane dew is 1 + 1 conditional value, so maybe 2 arcane is ok.
    Calm before the storm: I think this is broken, especially with eclectic magnetism. Play sigil, play eclectic, pitch blue, play this as instant amp it 2 with volzar for 6 arcane, get you action point back into 9 arcane damage on etchings. Even if they AB3 the calm, it's still 6 damage on the etchings. The concept is very cool but double dipping on Volzar's already strong amp would be incredibly strong.
    Split current: I could potentially see this, it's essentially a conditional stir the aether winds or exploding aether, seems fine.
    Double cast sigil: I think this is too strong? But you'd need the hand to really take advantage of it. Like if you had this on the field with the aforementioned ecclectic, calm combo that would be wayy too strong. 5+6+12+15 = 38 which is a 5 card 38 damage, return a sigil to your hand. I also think the recurssion might be a bit much maybe. I would like a sigil that came back to me though, that would be cool.
    Kano 2.0: I really like the idea but in current form very strong, pitch a blue, banish 3 red cards (set up turn). Into play all of them with blues you draw on the following turn. I think once per turn instant would be great because you could banish one and have a set up turn and then your next turn be banish, play 2 NAA at instant and then an action point spell too. Would have to tweak, but great idea though!
    All draconic wizard stuff: I think this is actually an amazing concept, using fealty and stuff to create draconic wizard NAAs to get the go again would be so so cool. I rate it. The weapon is super cool, the pay off for marking and fealty is cool, love it. I don't think you need to make the weapon destroy fealty, you can just do it yourself, and leave the amp as a "passive effect" like volzar.
