What do you want to see in the next “Complete Story Explained”?
Final Fantasy VI!!!
How about ratchet & clank? Lots of games now
Warhammer 40k.
God of War
Legend of Zelda or Castlevania
Just casually drops the entire mtg story!
Nbd
Almost 3 HOURS!!! HOOY SHIT
Yeah.. not even close. Missed a huge amount of stuff.. didn’t even cover a lot of event and characters.
@@bradcallahan3546it is almost as if he didn't say 'can't cover everything'...
The more i learn about mtg lore, the more i realize its 75% a story of ugin, bolas and the phyrexia and 25% what everyone else is doing in between 😂😂
You should try playing planechase if you haven't.
@@MultiWolfstorm you mean the plane chase cards?
@@ryancromer2110 yeah
You can thank retcons for that. Originally Ugin and Bolas weren't brothers, but someone decided to change that and warp the entire story around them.
@@VoctorVideo Could you explain how it was a retcon? I'm not well-versed with pre-2014 lore. But just because Nicol Bolas was never mentioned to have a twin until Tarkir doesn't mean he never did. Or are you saying that Ugin was already an established character prior to Tarkir?
Somebody actually put it all in a single video. Holy shit.
30 years of cards in just a couple hours. You get a subscription my friend.
Spice8rack made one a while ago that did it in only 80 minutes, plus it’s funny af
Underrated 9.5/10.
Only thing that would make it better, would be to make it 3 hours lol
Fr, this was too short. I could listen to 8 hours of this. I might be in the minority though
This has to be one of the best Magic summaries ever crafted. Detailed, well thought out, and very well paced, you've truly out done yourself.
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed!
@@TheLorebrarians you're so welcome! And thank you for the work you put into your content
I love these videos. Very much in the spirit of Vaatividya. No over acting. No insertion of too much personal opinion about the lore. Just a pretty accurate recounting of the events. You don’t get enough credit.
Appreciate it, his channel was definitely an early inspiration for me and it's always humbling to be compared to one of the greats!
Wow. The commitment to do this is beyond awesome! Thank you.
This is great, though it missed an important caveat at the end of the Shadows Over Innistrad Block: the Gatewatch didn't succeed at sealing Emrakul away but rather, she chose to seal *herself* away. She sensed that the plane wasn't ready to be cleansed, so she took control of Tamiyo and forced her to use a forbidden scroll that would allow Emrakul to chill in the moon for a while.
MTG lore is breathtaking. The amount of heroes, legends, and history is some of the best out there. If only we had a novel series.
Sadly they stopped doing continual novels in lorwyn.
@@mascrath Sadly.
And then the Brotherhood crossed the wastelands to New Vegas where the 11th Doctor was waiting with Frodo to defend the Tardis from the T-60 clad forces supported by Souron and the forces of Mordor.
I’d watch that
@@OranjMoose Can't forget about the Transformer and Jurassic park back up when Sephiroth looks to east on the 5th day.
Then Megatron ruined the whole thing.
And Nicol hired Ezio to assasinate Jayce
Was this all after the Tyranid Invasion on Pony Land?
Thank you so much! This is awesome I've flirted with playing MTG since 2016, but didn't fully dive into the hobby until late last year. But I've found that the more I play, and the more I collect, the more I'm like "what's going on in this illustration? Wonder what this flavor text is talking about." I'm glad there's finally a comprehensive, thorough video breaking down the full story
Appreciate it, glad you enjoyed!
Same brother, dabbled since 2015 but recently went balls deep. The images are provocative at times.
Had to prepare so i can have the 2.5 hours free needed yo watch this masterpiece uninterrupted, only to fall asleep after 20 minutes of hearing the voice.
mark of masterpiece retelling... fav audiobooks one can peacefully fall asleep to. neuro-divergent many thanks
The full story of magic? Wow! Thank you so much. This has to be the best gift I got all year.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for not portaying Urza as a villain 🤍🙏💙
Sweet merciful Buddha!
A Lorebrarians video to help my work day pass? Hells yeah
No offense, but maybe consider getting a more demanding job next time 😅
Hope you enjoy!
Well that was excellent.
I personally loved the complex old stories and lore, and the original Ravnica narrative.
This was brilliant!
Ive been secretly lurking your channel awaiting another lore update...but this definitely does it!
Appreciate it
@@TheLorebrarians Forgot to mention; im sure I speak for the majority of us when I say we also appreciate all the hard work, time, and energy that has gone into your videos. Especially, thank you for providing it to us here, for all to enjoy for completely free (You would make an excellent audiobook narrator)!
An incredible effort to archive all this information well done!
That was a wonderful journey and I'm sure a lot of both work and passion on your side and I really thank you for all of this. Cheers!
It was quite an ordeal, but definitely a story worth sharing. Glad you enjoyed!
in moments when i lose all hope and feel like i should finally let go of my attachment to mtg lore because i have to see Rakdos with a cowboy hat, i remember that the lorebrarians channel exists
Amazing job summarizing this wide sweeping story! Loved listening to it, even if all I recognized occurred after the 7th Epoch
This is fantastic. I was super excited to hear you actually cover a set like Legends, which is a detail that people seem to leave out. One small thing is that Sorin is Edgar's grandson, not his son.
Glad you enjoyed it! And yes, I had a couple misspoken lines throughout, I appreciate you bringing to my attention
Wait low key was the ur dragon the first Planeswalker
kinda but not really. ur dragon isn't really alive, its just the idea of a dragon put into the most perfect physical form
This was Great to watch. Thank you.
Very cool, thanks for creating this.
I'm so excited. I have a 2 hour plane ride coming up, this is perfect for it!!
Literally just bought my first commander deck pre con and I’m just learning about magic and this is crazy that you have this whole thing ready for me thank you so much
Welcome to the crazy but exciting multiverse of MTG, hope you enjoy!
This is going to go so hard during homework
Liking this and adding to my playlist to watch tonight!!
always knew you guys would be the one to have THAT video! ❤ forever!!
This is phenomenal. Seeing all of magic history and lore concentrated in one place, honestly not in a way that has been done before. I’ll be sure to point this out to people who have questions about the magic story. Incredible job being able to condense 30 years of overworld storytelling, and millennia of in game narrative into one place. The research as always is spectacular.
Thanks so much for the kind words, a lot of effort goes into these projects and I'm always grateful it's appreciated!
Damn, the dip in story quality post-mending is STRIKING
30:31 - I'm pretty sure Urza was confirmed to have his own spark (if you carefully read the ending of the book). Though it may have been infused into the Stones (those later details escape me now).
The spark was from Glacian. His essence was trapped in the stones when yawmoth stabbed him with the powerstone. The end of the book The Thran.
@@joelestrada6795 Urza's own spark ignited before he merged with the Stones, irrc - at the end of The Brothers' War book.
I remember there were debates about it on magic forums and I think it was eventually confirmed to be the case.
This is hype! Thank you Lorebrarians!
Of course, appreciate the continued support! This was a long project but worth sharing with you all
Thank you for this amazing new/update Lore video on Magic The Gathering😎💯😁
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was incredible, thank you so much
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent content!
This is awesome!!
Kudos! goosebumps! Thank you!
Now do one in full detail, id pay for that ❤ good job tho i am loving this
I'm new to Magic and have been reading all the lore. Now I don't have to!
ok now explain how lotr, walking dead, fallout, forgotten realms, dr who … fit in the story 😅 (just kidding)
Me when Legolas is blocked by Leonardo Da Vinci
my little pony
Different planes.
That wasn't hard. 🤣🤣🤣
Edit: I'm obviously kidding, but in a lore where multiple dimensions exist, they could easily use that cop out. Kinda like fortnite did
@@ryancromer2110 not even planes, different universes, one might even say... universes beyond
Now explain why not a single universe, even the cowboy one, has a gun.
Thank you Lore master
You have a really really good nerrator voice! I really enjoyed this video!
“From mana came planes.” 🤓 um, actually☝️ only white mana comes from plains
As others have stated, excellent work
Appreciate it!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE VIDEO
I noticed at 19:30 you said Edgar Markov is Sorin’s father. Edgar is Sorin’s grandfather
The Brother’s War is hands down my favorite latest set LOL the lore is so rich
Just what I needed…!
Thanks
did I miss the Theros story tie ins? I must've, right? (either way great job, this filled in so many gaps in my knowledge on the story!)
19:30 *puts on obnoxious nerd voice* um actually Sorin is Edgar's grandson
Favorite epoch is 7, I love the guild pact lore
On another note I’ve not seen that new Urza Planeswalker HOLY SHIT that’s insane.
Love thissssss!
Appreciate it!
The lore have always been awesome in set up, and word building, in hypothetical climax... however, the conclusions of the lore points are often OK/tier, sometimes lame and lazy. But it's what give MTG its charm.
Me starting MtG a few weeks ago: "Okay so Thunder Junction is an attempt to cash in on the western/western gothic trend like League's High Noon skins?"
After this: "...a bunch of groups seeking keys to a vault in a wasteland of outlaws? This is just Borderlands"
Had to share this with some mtg groups hope you don't mind should get you 100k subs
Appreciate it, spreading the word definitely helps!
pls do teferi
also, love your videos:)
You explain the lore better than WotC does.
I love this channel
So is Gerrard the MtG version of Paul Atreides?
I think so, old dominaria/mtg lore drank a lot from dune as far as i can tell
Thanks king
Please keep these coming, this is the best content / media I’ve enjoyed in quite some time
Thanks, appreciate it!
This is glorious..
great video
Appreciate it!
im hoping for a resurgence of fomori forces or tezzeret making a play for power with his newly acquired darksteel body stabilizing himself from the effects of the planar portal and the infinite consortium at his back again going forward
YOU FOOL! I love lore!
What about when Nicol escaped but Gatewatch grew into an army?
2:06 "green of verjer and growth" lmaooo
Amazing video. I listened to it while I should have been paying attention to writing me Texas History essay.
Appreciate it, hopefully you got that essay figured out in time!
I did!
I've been waiting for this. Fck YES!!!!
Hope you enjoyed!
Was the brief mention of Theros because we're unsure of the events of the plane in relation to AR?
That, the botched story of Beyond Death, and because many Theros events don't contribute much to the "overall" story. Same with Lorwyn and Shadowmoor, but not to say those planes and characters aren't exciting!
I like to refer to the results of the Phyrexian Invasion of the Multiverse as "The Rending," since it echoes The Mending.
How do the universes beyond set fit into the story?
Dominaria had by far the best storyline. Makes sense since it had the longest run, but also felt least algorithm-written.
Where was the opening animation from?
I really wish there was a Lorebrarians type TH-camr for YUGIOH
Yugioh lore is so complicated it's wild.
But does it explain why newer stories are rushed?
Money....
Remember when magic took their time and told stories over several sets and blocks? Weatherlight? Kamahl? Now we play gangsters in 1920s New York or Cowboys with barely any cohesion
@TheLorebrarians
Have you considered doing readings of the official MTG books? Maybe add in some relevant graphical content and flavor text reading to break up the thick drama like you do with your other videos?.......I think it would be well received.
Sick ❤🎉
If we got a MTG animated/live action series what story line do you think would be the best to cover? Thran Dynasty, Urza, or Gatewatch saga?
Everything UpTo War of the Sparks and after that... nope.
I hope this gets 100k views
you and me both
If magic would just sit down and come up with a long running story line that is heart felt action packed and make a fantastic story because even the good story’s are lacking heart and depth. There’s like no depth at all ever
Omggg yesss
ravnica is goated its when i really got into magic
Can you do The Dresden Files?
The ur-dragon origin got retconned
*looks at vid title*
_"A wizard did it."_
I have an issue with tbe volumn. Not loud
Didn’t nahiri get trapped in the helvault by accident?
Great stuff but I would recommend you are consistent with names. There are many times you will call someone by their last name and then their first name in the same sentence. This can be very confusing for newer people who don’t know the characters. I know the characters and it was difficult to follow at times.
I would recommend you call people by their first name or first and last, but not last name only.
The biggest problem is this went from being an interesting book series to a McDonalds blog (effectively). The story hasn’t mattered in a while honestly. And since I started (onslaught), I never really cared. And the books were better then.
Casually scrolls to the end
IDK much about mtg but i feel like there's a joke to be had here about the title of the video. The Compleat Story of Magic: The Gathering
Is Kellan actually a planeswalker? I didn't think he was.
He's not, no.
Ok, but where is the Paulo Freire's quote from Mercadia?
Spice8rack still the best.
