both very funny men. very different. ricky needs to be funny. he yearns for it. larry is just an observant and brilliant comedian. both comedically gifted and deserved of praise. thanks for posting.
This must be one of his most relaxed and comfortable interviews, along with Christopher Guest. I must say that before watching this I knew very little about Larry David (I never watched Seinfeld) but he seems like such a nice bloke, and very funny.
This is like a filmed podcast that's moving around a bit. Really relaxed and nice viewing. Anyhing like it, so and so meets so and so, or something along those lines? Preferably comedians, but not necessarily.
What's so great about Curb is you see a predicament set up and it's so strange and painfully awkward that you're absolutely certain it was based on something that actually happened.
THIS IS GENIUS MATERIAL. RICKY GERVAIS AND LARRY DAVID COULD INTERVIEW EACH OTHER FOR 1 HR ON HBO FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES AND BE MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN ANY SHOW IN HISTORY!
"Upper-class" normally gets used to refer to posh rather than just wealthy I think. I never hear self-made millionaires called upper-class, it's usually said about people who've inherited money, gone to boarding school etc.
@tjbayliss Your wish is granted. He is going to appear at some stage on the series that is currently airing. I just checked, he will appear in the episode on the 14th of this month as himself.
The wikipedia page on it says: "The upper class is generally contained within the wealthiest 1-2% of the population, and is distinguished by immense wealth (in the form of estates) which is passed from generation to generation" So I'm not the only one who thinks that.
I can’t find Larry on Howard Stern talking about his time in the Army Reserve, during Vietnam. Just totally nuts trying to get an emotional discharge. Someone with the authority, agreed he had no business in the military in any form. But heck, he made it through basic training, which is an accomplishment. Then a few weekends of drill.
they connect on many levels but I feel like Ricky has researched and done his homework on Larry's career and really knows the show and Larry just vaguely knows about ricky.
I've got that exact same thing, with being unable to wait for something, just because it's something I have to do. Doesn't matter if it's good or bad, all the same. Just can't be relaxed about it ^.^
He's not at all contradicting himself. A conversation is two ppl LISTENING to what the other is saying which they most certainly are here. That's the point.
@twentyletternamesftw No he didn't blank him. Ricky was following on from what he was saying, an interviewer asking a question and then not listening to an answer
@killerwhale123 Ricky says at the beginning that Larry David is one of his heroes and during the interview he says things like "i've come from nowhere" etc. He's not insecure, he's just in awe of his hero and knows his place. Doesn't take away from either of thier comedy genius
Ironic how BOTH men PREFER an interviewer who engages them in conversation, yet neither have been on Howard Stern, and that is EXACTLY how he interviews his guests.
6.35 - Larry mentions how he tried to get out of doing something on the day Ricky was interviewing him. What was Larry trying to get out off ? He was supposed to do this thing in New York. Larry tells them to call him next year just to get out of it. They call again the next year and he pretends to have a funeral. This interview was 2005.The outline Larry explained was a major storyline in Season 8 which was 2011. Kinda interesting.
both my favourite comedy writers...great show..thanks
I love seeing LD genuinely amused
can you imagine these 2 co writing a sitcom unbelievable
🤣🤝🏾
both very funny men. very different. ricky needs to be funny. he yearns for it. larry is just an observant and brilliant comedian. both comedically gifted and deserved of praise. thanks for posting.
Best two dudes ever.
Ricky is a really good interviewer!
I respect how honest Larry is in this interview, such a great guy.
He's a mensch
@@b0ssatr0n91
"Mind if I start?" That was the best!
i want this to keep going on and on and on
They got their own philosophy. I think humor is like having a sweet philosophy and sharing it with people.
The scene with Larry and the other guy in the restaurant is funny & clever.
So true... A good interviewer will ask the second question, not just skip to the next question.
I adore this, these 2 are the best
Their observations in people are very spot on. Maybe that's why they are great writers.
Letting the "bad thought" be spoken and play out. Pure genius.
Larry's story at 6:30 about trying to duck out of an invite was exactly like the last episode of Curb. Too funny...
hey lighten up man . larry is a genius and so is ricky those two together are so funny. laughter is happyness & they bring plenty of it to us all
both clever down to earth funny men = class
humour is identification; I detect a lot of respect and goodwill between these folk because they are true to themselves(I think)
this is an incredible interview
Look at the rapport between these guys! It's golden! WHY HAVENT THEY DONE ANYTHING TOGETHER YET????
two poets, dismantling themselves
This is just amazing.
Gervais knowing that he can make Larry laugh will make him sleep prettaay easily at night
"OK. *Looks away.*"
Yeah, the Christopher Guest one is awesome!
Haha, 3.48 dilemma... So funny!!
that lunch scene. painful is hell, yet hilarious!!!!!
making larry david laugh, that would be one of the best feelings haha
That sir, would truly be epic.
I think Larry's head would explode from the pressure of playing someone that significant, or someone other than himself.
"I put on my "funerial" voice"....SO good!
This must be one of his most relaxed and comfortable interviews, along with Christopher Guest.
I must say that before watching this I knew very little about Larry David (I never watched Seinfeld) but he seems like such a nice bloke, and very funny.
Thank you!
yeah they really mesh well
7:03 surely they are going to hear that
I honestly thought this was a sketch and was waiting for the punch line
i love these guys , kinda showbiz punks :P
I just realized that I argue with my wife exactly like Larry argues with everyone.
This is like a filmed podcast that's moving around a bit. Really relaxed and nice viewing. Anyhing like it, so and so meets so and so, or something along those lines? Preferably comedians, but not necessarily.
There's a series called "Ricky Gervais Meets..." that's a LOT like it.
LOL, you might be right !
LD shits funny even when he sleeps
What's so great about Curb is you see a predicament set up and it's so strange and painfully awkward that you're absolutely certain it was based on something that actually happened.
Yes it must be hard to write about events that have happened to you
oh god! larry has the best laugh! there's nothing better than the curb out takes or any other moment when he laughs!
@ 5:44
Rick is featuring in an episode of Curb for season 8!
THIS IS GENIUS MATERIAL. RICKY GERVAIS AND LARRY DAVID COULD INTERVIEW EACH OTHER FOR 1 HR ON HBO FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES AND BE MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN ANY SHOW IN HISTORY!
If you really think about it, that's not true
So where did you meet Jerry lol.
Thought this was an episode of Curb for a second
The people have spoken.
this is so much better than the gary Shandling fiasco interview. Wow that was a car wreck. i mean, really bad.
Gervais' example of an interview reminds of of James Lipton (I was flipping through channels)
Ricky Gervais.
I thought this was a Curb episode for about 3 minutes of the clip.
I could just watch larry talking for hours.
LD's laugh is fucking class
"Upper-class" normally gets used to refer to posh rather than just wealthy I think. I never hear self-made millionaires called upper-class, it's usually said about people who've inherited money, gone to boarding school etc.
'a whole lot' is three
in quotations!
So sorry so so sorry- the bow.... ha. Juicing.
They're basically 2 best friends of comedy. Genuis's. Geniuses? HOWEVER YOU SPELL IT I CBA GOOGLING.
Holy shit thats brilliant....
Watch Curb your Enthusiasm. It's sooo funnyyy
lol this all sounds like episode 3 of extras
I don't know where you're from though. This could be unique to the UK.
@tjbayliss Your wish is granted. He is going to appear at some stage on the series that is currently airing. I just checked, he will appear in the episode on the 14th of this month as himself.
I love both of them to a slightly ridiculous degree.
Why is this audio so quiet
The wikipedia page on it says: "The upper class is generally contained within the wealthiest 1-2% of the population, and is distinguished by immense wealth (in the form of estates) which is passed from generation to generation"
So I'm not the only one who thinks that.
I was half way through when I realized this wasn't scripted lol
I can’t find Larry on Howard Stern talking about his time in the Army Reserve, during Vietnam. Just totally nuts trying to get an emotional discharge. Someone with the authority, agreed he had no business in the military in any form.
But heck, he made it through basic training, which is an accomplishment. Then a few weekends of drill.
they connect on many levels but I feel like Ricky has researched and done his homework on Larry's career and really knows the show and Larry just vaguely knows about ricky.
larry is so fucking funny. everything that comes out of his mouth
@ChameleonLost88 I totally agree. They are giving some pretty good tips. Prettyyy, prettyyy, pretty good!
Where did Larry meet Jerry?
Rick Gervais's point at 8:21 sounds like a description of Michael McIntyre
I've got that exact same thing, with being unable to wait for something, just because it's something I have to do. Doesn't matter if it's good or bad, all the same. Just can't be relaxed about it ^.^
I'm surprised they didn't show the clip from extras where andy has dinner with a complete stranger as well.
When I meet Larry, I'd tell him how good looking he is.
"The next two months are now ruined for me... I wont have one day for the next two months"
I'd say he thinks he is middle-class now, because of his lifestyle, but he was brought up in a working-class family
that man didnt merit a stop and chat" lmao LD and his own rules. he shits funny
He's not at all contradicting himself. A conversation is two ppl LISTENING to what the other is saying which they most certainly are here. That's the point.
If you just listen to the audio without watching Larry's face, he sounds
EXACTLY like Seinfeld. I mean it's the GD same voice! THE SAME VOICE!
0:38 .... you do Gervais... you are British!
@twentyletternamesftw he wasn't asking him as a serious question, he saying that how interviewers ask questions when they're with him
Larry David would play George Washington perfectly.. It must be done.
Ironic how BOTH men PREFER an interviewer who engages them in conversation, yet neither have been on Howard Stern, and that is EXACTLY how he interviews his guests.
5:43 LOL
@evh5150316
its confirmed that Ricky will be more than one episode as himself in the upcoming season
i laughed so fucking much, love larry david and love gervais, great "interview"! (don't know what else to call it)
6.35 - Larry mentions how he tried to get out of doing something on the day Ricky was interviewing him. What was Larry trying to get out off ? He was supposed to do this thing in New York. Larry tells them to call him next year just to get out of it. They call again the next year and he pretends to have a funeral. This interview was 2005.The outline Larry explained was a major storyline in Season 8 which was 2011. Kinda interesting.
at 4:40
the perfect line would be "it's not like sex"
For all you future interviewers out there. Larry and Ricky are giving some pretty good tips on how to be a good interviewer.
@evh5150316
You probably know this already, but, yes, Ricky is in Curb's next season!
06:00 LOL
got it now haha
we need karl pilkington, larry and gervais doing something
LOL at 5:57 Larry
Why don't people expect you to finish your food at the same time if you're having lunch together?
