Ricky went full David Brent at the end there when he got nervous about Karl slagging off the show. I think David Brent is a significant part of Ricky's personality and it comes out sometimes when hes stressed.
I am not sure if this has been posted before, but I would love to watch Karl come out with some DIY instructional videos! I think Karl could go on for ages about different tools, tile shapes, colors, etc...Although he enjoys DIY, I imagine he would still have a proper moan about most of it and the DIY 'instructions' would be incredible to follow. Also, a few distractions to keep him slightly distracted would be a nice touch. In fact, Karl is welcome to come do some DIY at my house, they are building new houses around me night and day. The loud noises of construction and taco trucks stopping by every hour would 'do his head in'. It does my head in. And Karl can only eat if he stands in line at the taco truck......Ok I really went into too much detail. Just a thought...Honestly, Karl is a natural genius and appears to be a genuinely nice guy. I feel that if he had 'proper' education, it may tainted his natural curiosity and ability to view the world in such a unique fashion. It is our differences that makes the world an interesting place and Karl's ability to put together his version is really a part of natural psychology. He just has the perfect mix of education, experience, work ethic, artistic ability and curiosity that provides a psychological disposition that makes him a natural genius.
You sir, might be a genius. You have have solved the Karl Pilkington conundrum. Your words clicked so well with me, I've watched and loved this man for years and you have written a comment that I have never connected so much with. Well done sir, good work.
"And it's made him a million pounds" *big Karl grin* There ya go. Karl knows Ricky loves him beyond all the jokes. When you know someone really cares about you, even just a friend or whatever, all the ribbing is done more out of affection than anything negative, mean or hateful.
I think that Karl is the Anti-Stig. Nobody knows who the Stig is (usually), but everbody knows what he does. Everybody knows who Karl is, but nobody knows what he does. Some people say "He got a head like a fucking orange". Some say "He's a bald headed Manc twat". All I know, is that he's a bloody legend.
Julie A. Fast yeah i think its cause he really gets into the discussions theu had in derek. I remember him saying that he got so angry that he was shaking cause he imagined the particular scene to be true and therefore it seemd like a genuine karl moment
They could have done this for another 15 yrs and it would never have gotten old. Making money for hanging out with friends just talking and laughing. Does it get better than that!?
In this interview he comes out smarter than he usually is. Such a fun, wierd way to look at the world. And really nice to see him enjoy working with his hands.
I love how honest Karl is about the show or whatever not being very good at the start, while Ricky is trying to sell it, making it sound great so people will tune in.
I love Karl because he's such a real person. I know Ricky just loves him for all the crazy shit that comes out of his mouth (as do we) and he wants to share him with the rest of the world but you can tell he honestly doesn't consider himself a performer, and I'm sure he could if he wanted to. That's very commendable in a way. That being said though I really hope he doesn't move to Hastings and become a plumber because I'd miss him lol.
Rockbusters started off good but then after the third or fourth one it became the biggest load of shite I've ever heard. Wet-Knee Houston comes to mind...
Karl is just saying that he likes to do stuff that has a positive physical impact on the world, which I agree with. On the other hand, Ricky and Steve don't care about that stuff as long as they are doing what they enjoy, which is fine, but Karl is right in saying that being a comedian or talking about stuff doesn't have much of an impact on the world as saving a person's life or constructing something or repairing something else.
actually it is. I've listened to the podcasts on rotation for years and I can tell you that some conversations ARE messed with, moved about and edited. So no its not the exact conversations. In one episode Karl says "i think there's bacteria that have better lives than that" in reference to something completely different because of where and how they edited it, completely changing the meaning and tone. It happens all over the show.
probably why noone understands how editing out/rearranging a few sentences can completely change the conversations tone, and therefore how funny it is.
though not my favorite, I agree. Though his stand up didn't totally do it for me. He is tight with money but on one episode I heard that he goes into charity shops which must show he isn't "snobbish". His input is important and at first I didn't realize that at all. I was fazed by Ricky's laugh and Karl's comments. Steve isn't a boring man and sometimes, I feel for him.
Nah, Steve has always been more of a co-worker I think, a good mate but not his best. Before he met Karl, Ricky said Robin Ince was his best mate, not Steve. I don't think Steve and Ricky talk much anymore to be honest.
Looking at over a decade old footage of Karl causes two existential crises. One: he is the same age as me here. Two: he doesn't look any different now.
None of it is used from the radio show, it is all from the podcasts and the Guide To's. Certain sections are completely removed, or rearranged. The worst case being when Steve is talking about the Kombai Tribe and Karl says "i think there are bacteria that have better lives than that". That quote was from a completely different conversation about eskimos.
I think I was listening to the XFM episode where Karl shoots off t Hastings the other day. That episode is probably my favorite, when a sketch Ricky and Steve recorded can't be played because its full of swearing and the take it out on Karl. Anyone else know the one i'm taking about?
The one point I strongly agree with on Karl's part is about the plumbing; it annoys me when Ricky makes his sarcastic remarks because he knows he can just throw money away to someone else to do the job. Karl however, isn't fazed one bit about both money and fame and still gets his hands dirty - there is some dignity and definitely courage in this. I love Steve. I do think he is funny in casual conversations - but his stand up... I just don't find it funny...
One of the best things about Karl is that he's still a normal bloke, Ricky takes the piss out of him for doing jobs around the house like he's the weird one
I love the 3 fellas, although it annoys me when Ricky asks Karl a question and he answers with what he believes and he is shut down almost instantly by Ricky. I guess it's what makes it funny and as he said he is just playing his 'role'.
''What's the last film you saw, Karl.''

Ricky went full David Brent at the end there when he got nervous about Karl slagging off the show. I think David Brent is a significant part of Ricky's personality and it comes out sometimes when hes stressed.
I'm sure he was "in character" right there.
So true lol
I love it when Ricky just says "Thoughts Karl" and his face is just totally bewildered
Which pixel is Ricky?
the fat one
PaulJohn204 we are watching this to get a laugh not count hairs on rickys face

*big Karl grin*
There ya go.
Karl knows Ricky loves him beyond all the jokes. When you know someone really cares about you, even just a friend or whatever, all the ribbing is done more out of affection than anything negative, mean or hateful.
Women use compliments to show contempt, whilst Men use insults to show affection
I love how Karl is excited when Ricky said he made a million pounds.
I think that Karl is the Anti-Stig.

More Dougie been Karl lol
Ricky,Steve and Karl are one of the best trio I've ever watched and listened in my life.
I thought 240p was bad.
jesus, was this filmed on a fuckin calculator
potato
Egg.
Matt Roberts a Sanyo 4197g ;-)
using one of those calculators Karl knicked back in tha day?
They could have done this for another 15 yrs and it would never have gotten old. Making money for hanging out with friends just talking and laughing. Does it get better than that!?
Ricky's laugh is so good.
See..I'd like to watch a video of Ricky, Steve and Karl watching their animated selves for the first time!
Johnny Luken Brilliant!
Sure The Office is great, but Karl is way funnier in person that Ricky and Steve put together.
But only when Steve and Ricky wind him up or feed him info. Without them 2 Karl wouldn't say much at all.
My girlfriend had a problem with her marrow
Me girlfriend
In this interview he comes out smarter than he usually is.

karl for president!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alright?
I could watch these three forever.
fucking hilarious listening to Karl speak at half speed
Most unrealized secret about these three! It’s like listening to a conversation between three people who are stoned beyond belief!
OMG, Karl gets better all the time. And he never loses his humility. A simple, sweet soul.
Ricky is actually quite good looking when he gets in shape proof fitness is good for u
You make that comment as if there wasn't proof to begin with
144p... we meet again!
"You haven't inflamed him to do some coving!"
Brilliant!
I love when Karl smiles.
Heheheh these three are so amazing

Smerch telling karl to put his hands down is just because he knows karl is a bit awkward on screen, brilliant trio, smerch is integral
"Smerch"
Holy crap thats my favorite thing ever, 12 year old comment!! ♡
i love the way Karl often talks much more sense than the other 2!
as long as these three guys stay friends, everything's fine with the world.

I love finding these random interviews with Steve, Ricky and Karl.
Love the bit where Steve tells Karl to put his hands down.
Ricky swooping into Brent at the end there, So funny!
Karl escaping to Hastings is hilarious

When they start cloning humans, the first one should be Karl so we can all have one. He generally makes me my day so much better
haha i love how this pretty much turned into another episode.
Good point. That is how friendship works after all.

good stuff generally... there IS a line between being matey and being mean...
"What´s the last film you´ve seen Karl?" - "What do you mean?" hahaha
Because Karl is brilliant.
steve doesn't get nearly enough attention i think.... i love the guy, people need to realize hes amazing too!

Nah, Steve has always been more of a co-worker I think, a good mate but not his best. Before he met Karl, Ricky said Robin Ince was his best mate, not Steve. I don't think Steve and Ricky talk much anymore to be honest.
MrVirusHacked He still says Robin is his best mate. People can have more than one best mate ;)

Haha how can people dislike Steve? Smerch is a hero.
I love it when Karl smiles
Even to this day if I saw Karl in B and Q working I wouldn't be shocked😭😭😂

I like it when Steve has to tell him to put his arms down.
I love how Ricky defers to Karl on the endorsement of the DVD.
I love Steve's laugh when Karl says, "Brain surgeon."
