Got the compact. It is about 10% less powerful, but you’ll not notice in practice. The multi blade directions IS a god send in tight spaces. Vibration is bad, but lessened if you keep the shoe pressed tight to the work piece. The tool is light enough (just) to single hand hold for tree pruning. Being essentially a viscous jigsaw on steroids, if you try to rip down large panel sheets it bucks around alarmingly and makes a neat cut impossible, but rough cutting stud work, guttering, small tree branches and similar works really well.
The DCS382 has been heavily discounthed here in the UK which tells me its not a fast seller . Ive owned the DCS367 and the blade change position is a winner . Both though are great saws.
The vibration on the small one is insane! If you have to do big demolition projects dont go with the compact. Just ghet corded and spare your hands the vibration. If you need it for small jobs then the compact one is a vary handy tool.
I use the standard one for pallets at work, cut up a bunch yesterday it hardly vibrates. It’s a nice saw, I went with Dewalt as my grandad was in construction and passed down a 30 yr old Dewalt brush drill so I wanted to keep the collection going.
Dang it at home Depot today they only had the non compact mind u I thought they both had 4 blade position I might return until they restock in the 4 blade one
The compact has the worst vibration I've ever seen in a reciprocating saw i used my partners other one yesterday and really like it better ( the larger one in video )

Thanks for this, i was trying to decide between these 2 exact models
buy the compact ones. If you're doing heavy duty demo work, use a corded saw-zall. More balls and saves batteries as vibration is bad for lithium ion.
Compact is great for most jobs. 60volt flexvolt is best for heavy and big uses, standard is ok saw.
Thanks. The ability to have 2 different blade directions is a deal breaker for me. Going with the compact

Yep I have the compact and it's great as a homeowner saw for quick jobs. But for big jobs the vibration will screw up your arm.
the side latch definitely isnt as robust as the blade change up front, ive seen them bend and be a pain to deal w
Thanks dude, very helpful 👍🏽👍🏽
If your a plumber and/or going into tight spaces go De Walt. If you want a overall killer mini reciprocating saw go with Milwakee hands down.

What about the 382 vs the 384?

Vibration on compact is bad😢
What about vibration point of view? Which model is less vibration?
DCS 382 the bigger bulkier one in this video and it's faster than the smaller compact also in this video
Dcs382
If you want power go makita 40v. Hands down best
With almost no vibration. Makes most metals hot butter.
