I used the A-10 mains (trailing link type) and they work perfectly and come with much softer tires as well. They didn't have the nose strut at the time so that is yet to be done.
Thanks for the info, to bad motionrc is out of stock for the nose gear, hopefully they will have it before next season. I did a mod on my t28 1.2m and i know im going to have the same issue with this beast. You would think for the price they would put better gear in it.
Definitely. The stock landing gear is the worst part of this plane. Some people say its not needed. But come on. Wire struts just look ridiculous even on the 1.1M T-28. 🤣
Take the trunion out of the front stock retract. Get a drill bit the same size as the head of the A10 80mm retract pin. VERY carefully countersink drill the hole in the trunion checking each time until you have it deep enough to allow the head of the pin to go inside the trunion and stick out the other end to mount the nose gear on it. You may need to file a flat spot onto the pin for the grub screw. No need for sprite cans, fits tight as if it was made that way from E-Flite.
So you modify the Eflite trunion to fit the larger A-10 pin. I didn't see a pin in the photo of the A-10 gear. So I'm assuming you made your own. Did you use a drill bit as the new pin? I've heard of people doing that.
@@Blackys-Boy Please note this pin will not work on the T-28 as it is too short. I also bought it but it is unusable. I ended up having to make my own pin.
HEADS UP: This replacement seems to no longer be valid, as the gear pins are now bent and not straight. There is not enough room now on the straight portion to mount this new A-10 strut
I hadn't read this comment until now and discovered last night while upgrading mine that it too has the bent leg. I ended up using the straight portion after the bend, then cut out the foam to clear the tire. A-10 mains fit right in.
I ended up cutting the top 15mm of the A-10 nose gear strut and drilling the 5mm hole into it a few more mm and drilled/threaded new set screws. The strut now fits after the bend.
Can you tell me please if you used a different pin ? As here in the comments mine has a bend. I’ve ordered an 80mm A-10 pin but I’m worried it’s not going to be long enough to accommodate the steering collar too Cheers
I have the same problem. I have tried the A-10 Pin - it is absolutely too short to accommodate the steering sleeve and being able to screw the gear on.
Cant remember if I cut a section from the stock front gear or the main gear i had at the time. But i do remember having to break apart the plastic and cut a section from the lower part of the gear. Which is why i had to make that collar/shim. There is going to be some play since the A10 strut pin and the gear servo socket are slightly different sizes. Adding the collar/shim solves that issue. Its not a drop in fit. Wish it was easier. But i made this video well after i did the mod since a lot of guys at the field wanted to see how i was able to put suspension struts on mine.
I solved the problem. A-10 pin is fine you just need to split the retract case open and remove the original front leg. Get a drill bit that’s just larger than the pin head. Then work out how much pin you need sticking out for retract leg and steering collar then drill carefully with a bit of oil. I drilled about 8-10 mm. Then re fit it all
cool. its definitely not a drop in fit as some were expecting. you can either change the pin or mod the servo to accept the A10 pin. either way its a little extra work. but its worth it.
The Freewing Zeus nose gear also works without any mods to length! BTW the Zeus strut has the same diameter hole as the T-28, which BTW you have to cut off to fit since the T-28 has a single wire strut NOT a cnc unit!! You make it look like there was just a pin on the T-28 nose landing gear box. NOT true!!

@@all_rc agree they look cheap and will bend.
This plane lands like a Piper Cub, these are great for grass but on hard pavement, dont need
I still have the V1 , no problems with struts or retracts

Motion rc sells the a10 80mm retract pin.

Gear pins? Are you referring to the 5mm wire coming out of the landing gear retract being bent now?

Please can you make a video regarding the main landing gear mod also, this was very helpful..

My retract dosnt have a pin the gear goes in to the retract directly, did you make a pin?
Sorry just seen the answer in the comment
will the stock nose gear in the A-10 fit in the E-Flite CarbonZ T-28 2M v2 with out any modifications? Is the base plate the same size?
What is the correct size drill bit to accept the A10 pin ?
What receiver do you have in this T-28? If you have a mix setting for the rudder/steering, it appears you have more than six channel receiver.
I have an FRSky SR10+ RX in this T28. Im not using the Spektrum RX it came with.
How did you add the second spring into the strut?

What about the mains?
Apparently after reading his video from 2 week ago he simply fits the P51 strut and wheels straight onto the Trojan servo
