GREAT video Matt! I did this install a few months back with a custom ordered 3rd brake light. Wished you had this posted back then! I was blinded going into it, but all went well. I used the 3M adhesive remover to remove the excess gasket "gunk", but there are a few products that work great. Just so others are aware, I did screw up at the very end of my install. Be careful when clipping back in the trunk liner. One of the clips "caught" my emergency trunk release pull, and as a result my trunk would not close. That was an embarrassing moment at the Dealer, and they had a good laugh......... Once again, EXCELLENT "How to" video! MUCH appreciated! Thank-you.
FYI....Pure Orange Oil is the best adhesive remover I have found to date. It doesn't damage the paint, it liquefies the adhesive and cleans the paint surface and it smells good. I've been using it for years now and wouldn't trade it for any other chemical or cleaner.
Hey Matt, just wanted to reach out and give you a huge thank you!!! I have been subscribed for a bit and your videos have helped me big time with all of my mods. This particular video saved me a bunch of time, this mod took all of about 20 minutes including cleaning all the sticky gunk off. This one completes my tail lights and I can't be happier. Thank you Sir!!
Thanks Matt, easy install. By far, the part that took the longest was removing the old sticky residue from tape. The rest was plug & play. My order didn't take that long to ship, just a little over a month.
IMHO, the adhesive tape and foam is primarily a weather seal - with the added benefit of keeping the part nicely planted. I think the real hold comes from the clips. When you tighten the screws it bows the metal clips, making them larger than the hole and creating a snug fit. As always, nice job on the install and showing the process. I know from trying to film my tail light swap how hard it is to get a camera angle and enough light when working alone. Thanks.
Matt, thanks for the video. My light just came in and it was so easy to install after watching this. I even skipped unscrewing the metal tabs on the stock light. The hardest part about this install was cleaning off the residue left by the old double sided tape. If I've added it to my car, I've watched the video you made. Thanks!
Great post. I am a ZL1 owner and boy, this entire rear light package should have been on the car from the beginning. Gives it that ZO6 look and I love it.
Great Video Leathal, I just received my blacked out third brake light from GM Parts guy today and replaced it in just a few minutes. No need to remove any of the under trunk lid parts. you can just pop it out just as easy as you did without touching a screw or clip. The hardest thing was removing the excess glue. Again great video and when can we expect a BMR Review ?
No need to reply to this comment but maybe a video for launching and hooking up at the track with the BMR and a second when you get the front sway bar installed for cornering and handling. Either way can't wait as I live about two hours from BMR and want to get this done ASAP...
Thanks for the great vid!! What are the components you have for your rear wing? I think we have the same factory wing but I like the setup you have added to it? Thanks.
Just bought a 2016 Camaro 2SS but it has dual exhaust pipes but I want to add an aftermarket one to make it louder which one do you have and do you recommend it?
Hey I'm trying to help my friend choose a 5th gen and a 6th gen which one should he get the cheaper one that he fell in love (2013 5th gen) with or updated tech and angrier look (2017 6th gen)
This light won’t turn off while my car is off. 2020 ZL1 1LE… it eventually killed my battery months ago now it’s a problem again. Will taking it out fix the problem?
Is it possible to get a decent angle on the rear of that light from inside the trunk in order to push out the light with some type of tool rather than pull it from the outside?
Hi Matt, I just ordered the tint/ stickers for the side markers and third brake light. After seeing yours I will definitely order the light itself. I really like the way it looks and seems do-able. Also, where did you get your tail lights from? Thanks
Will you be putting another "Lethal Camaro" vinyl cover over the light? I have the "Camaro" black out from Phastek and was wondering if the letters are too large and wont show up properly on this 3rd brake light.
Watched this video and installed after. This is like a 15 min install and 10 min of that is just getting rid of the old double-sided tape. Granted I have my own detail tools which helps break the original seal but hey, I wish all installs were this easy.
I placed my order days before Matt's email went out. Literally right as they were available but my orders been on hold forever. Guess I should do car videos so I can get bumped up to the top of the list.
What is the part number for this LED 3rd brake light? Do we have to go through the dealer? I have tried to check the GM Parts shops online, but no luck? Any details you can provide to get one ordered? Thanks in advance.
Mine arrives this week - can't wait to get rid of my baboon ass 3rd light. And thanks @lethalcamaro for the video. I know I give you shit about showing data on claims but I watch your videos.
Just installed mine I love it but the tape on the top bunched up & didnt sit flush I used a card to push it down helped went in more but still not 100% flush
im number 17 in line. I think the foam tape is for waterproofing. The clips do hold it in. I wasn't expecting to get it until it was time to put the car away for the winter.
Pretty sure I'm number 52,713 in line. And GM says they are making 50,000 of them. That's how it usually works, anyway. But thanks to this video, stealing someone else's should be easy enough.... ;-)
Thanks Matt, I'll reference this again when mine comes. Good job. The only suggestion I have, just because I'm anal, is to put some masking tape around the light for when you need to leverage the plastic trim tool against the paint while prying. Also I think a few passes with a heat gun first may soften the adhesive. If you have them, a plastic razor blade might make quicker work of the adhesive but nothing wrong with starting with something duller like the plastic trim tool.
love your videos; takes all the guesswork out of installation. where do you get the removal tools? Like the tuning fork thing and whatever you cut the tape with.
If you have a BLACK Camaro... take the trunk line off as Lethal did. This gets surgical a bit when breaking the old adhesive. You don’t want to scratch your paint.. take it easy and take your time.
when I want a smoked brake light I just stomp on the gas .................... BTW msn had a photo of the Red Camaro in your last video in the air , hard to tell I think all 4 wheels about 1.5" ++ of air time .
This video needs to be updated removing the trunk cover is not needed. Realistically you only have to get the adhesive tape loose. That's not mentioned till later in the video which doesn't help people who are installing as they watch step by step. Wasted 15 min to remove it for no reason at all.
I'm sure that's true, but I just installed mine this morning and I also didn't have to remove the trunk pieces. It was SUPER easy to do. It was harder to change my fuel door than it was to install that brake light.
LethalGarage ok so it's so high on demand that not only did they doubled the price but they send used parts to customers...I took my chances and bought the product and all I got was a brake light with a bunch of scuff marks (specially on the bottom) the scratches are so bad that it takes away the shine and its broken on the sides where the light supposed to help it sit tight for install DO NOT!!!! BUY THIS PRODUCT
LethalGarage yes I gave them a call and the guy that answered said that he doesn't deal with that sort of stuff ..he told me to call back again tomorrow
If you would ever be interested in doing a quick interview on my scrub car/news/comedy youtube channel I would be honored. We are new, but I assure you that we are in it for the long haul. Either way, keep making my 1LT 2016 2.0L Camaro looking as basic as it is. Love your videos : )
Wow that is awesome! We have a ZL1 1LE episode in the shoot, or we could do a whole episode about you and or Camaros in general. My email is sean dot skirvin at G mail dot com . I would love to discuss this with you at your convenience.
Laith Al Obaidy I did that for awhile. This new light perfectly matches the GM blackout tail lights. A smoked sticker never seemed to quite fit. It's a subtle change and I may be the only one that notices it on my car, but it just looks finished now.

+Justin Opinion The metal clips hardly catch the body on the side, but the metal clips do touch in the center.
LethalGarage So how do I order the dark third brake light plus the dark tail lights?
+Sue Paulovitz Hit up Phastek Performance they should be able to get you both.
Justin Opinion does the adhesive still show after you installed it? On mine you can still see it in some spots
Matt, thanks for the video. My light just came in and it was so easy to install after watching this. I even skipped unscrewing the metal tabs on the stock light. Ordered mine weeks ago...still waiting. I have been in contact with Rominski, keeping me updated...good guy.
I did mine today. So easy thanks for the video and we all learned from your mistakes.
Great Video Leathal, I just received my blacked out third brake light from GM Parts guy today and replaced it in just a few minutes. Working on it, need to get the front sway bars and links on the car.
No need to reply to this comment but maybe a video for launching and hooking up at the track with the BMR and a second when you get the front sway bar installed for cornering and handling. Either way can't wait as I live about two hours from BMR and want to get this done ASAP...
I've got mine on order with Thatgmpartsguy. Love your videos Matt, they are a TON of help!
I can’t find anywhere to get the dark tail lights (not the 3rd) do you have any info on where?
I'd highly recommend the smoked lense spec d sequental taillights. I have 2 other style by moshimoto but the spec D lights look awesome.
Thanks for the great vid!! What are the components you have for your rear wing? I think we have the same factory wing but I like the setup you have added to it? Thanks.

have you seen the transformers 5 bumblebee rear spolier, ive been trying to do my research so i can get it for a friend
When you follow the link to buy the light, it says page not found? Anyone else?
Thanks for the video brother. The install looks easier then i thought
its easy :)
What is the tool, you use to remove the plastic clips ?
Is it possible to get a decent angle on the rear of that light from inside the trunk in order to push out the light with some type of tool rather than pull it from the outside?
Have to break the foam sticker seal. But it can be pushed out
Easy ! Great video. Where did you purchase the adhesive removal and clip removal tools exactly ??
Jerry Moccia Amazon has them.
Amazon: www.amazon.com/KINGLAKE-Panel-Removal-Radio-Installer/dp/B00HNMLQAG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498365281&sr=8-1&keywords=car+body+panel+trim+kit
thanks again
Hey Leathal, are their any competitors to American Muscle as far as an organized E-commerce website for aftermarket parts dedicated to the camaro?
Phastek Performance is a good start for late model Camaros
Hi Matt, I just ordered the tint/ stickers for the side markers and third brake light. After seeing yours I will definitely order the light itself. I really like the way it looks and seems do-able. Also, where did you get your tail lights from? Thanks
What is the tint percentage on your driver/passenger windows?
My 1le had the blacked out lights but they didn't do the 3rd light. Just ordered.
only the ZL1 1LE has it.
The link you provided doesn't work anymore, do you have another link for the third brake light?
Can you let me know the GM Part No for that LED third brake light??
Yes! That means they should be shipping soon. I wasn't expecting it till August anyway
Will you be putting another "Lethal Camaro" vinyl cover over the light? I have the "Camaro" black out from Phastek and was wondering if the letters are too large and wont show up properly on this 3rd brake light.
The "Camaro" lights up when you hit the brakes. Its has more attitude
I dislike how the car literally doesnt have "Camaro" on the outside anywhere. I may have to get new emblems
If you removed new install. Do you know what tape to use reinstalling an old 3rd brake light ?
No one sells it
hey a question the spoiler of ZL1 can be put to the CAMARO LT 2018 ?
It can be, but you might have a few holes to fill if you have the stock LT spoiler
Watched this video and installed after. This is like a 15 min install and 10 min of that is just getting rid of the old double-sided tape. Granted I have my own detail tools which helps break the original seal but hey, I wish all installs were this easy.

Daniel Rivers checkout thatgmpartsguy.com
Got it thanks, after reading through the entire post. Really appreciate the response!
the adhesive stuck out slightly on mine so it didnt sit flush on the top :/ what would the best replacement for the adhesive would be?
Probably 3M
You have a link to the plastic removal tool from Amazon?

Thanks
Thanks for making this, looking forward to getting mine. Pre-ordered it from gmpartsguy.
Btw, I found that goof off eats clear coat. I use goo gone. Ask me how I know...
How bad ? Did you have to repaint the area?
Jerry Moccia it was under the seat of my motorcycle so I just left it.
I have never had issues with it.
Mine arrives this week - can't wait to get rid of my baboon ass 3rd light.
And thanks @lethalcamaro for the video. I know I give you shit about showing data on claims but I watch your videos.
Very useful just got installed
Ordered!
Just installed mine I love it but the tape on the top bunched up & didnt sit flush I used a card to push it down helped went in more but still not 100% flush
Will a gm dealership install this?
Yes
Thank you sir!
LethalGarage I installed it. Does it stick out a tiny bit. I can see the adhesive if you look at it from the top.
Are these shipping out already? Ordered mine a while back and still waiting.
He got 5 of them and has more coming.
LethalGarage thanks. I pre ordered mine on may 9th, but who knows how many people were in front of me.
im number 17 in line. I think the foam tape is for waterproofing. The clips do hold it in. I wasn't expecting to get it until it was time to put the car away for the winter.
How did you find out what number in line you are? I ordered mine within 2-3 hours of the original posting for the pre order lol
i sent a pm to thatpartsguy asking were i was

Just got a reply from him today. I'm number 106 out of 300.
Yeah, I'm probably seriously down at the bottom. Maybe by fall...
I just ordered one, anyone have any insight on the wait time we're looking at to receive our order?
+Alexfyeah awhile....
Matt - Many thanks as always...
+MillCityJam no problem

Gabe Armijo I think dental tape is good at too. Pull it around instead of sawing it out.
matches the tailights that that you replaced the original tailights with
The smoked look is much better then stock however it looks to have the same led as the stock light
I opted for the zl1 1le
love your videos; takes all the guesswork out of installation.
where do you get the removal tools? Like the tuning fork thing and whatever you cut the tape with.
Harbor Freights, AMAZON, etc.

LethalGarage Thanks, just tired of using a flathead screwdriver and mangling the fasteners all the time
Nah Hey Leethe!
Great vid!
Ya know if you used a bit of gentle heat gunning that betty would almost just fall away
I have tried that int he past, have never been that easy... ever.
So you may have to kick it up a bit and use an acetylene rose bud torch.
BUT THAT BAD BITCH IS COMING OFF MAN!
I love it very good
Damn! I just blacked out my original brake light, but i cant pass this up. Just ordered it ='(
+Jordan Clark nice
I preordered mine the first day he posted about it and I haven't received mine yet.
He only got 5 of them. Its going to take time.
LethalGarage I got it in today! Thanks for the video so I'm not going in blind. Haha
The link does not work anymore!

So can you take it out without undoing any clips? If anyone has tried, I would appreciate the input!
Yes. Just get the sticky tape from around the edges broken apart
@@Lethalgarage Awesome, just wanted to clear it up before installing. Also I just used your code to buy the Hero sequential lights from Phastek
Nice
Do you literally replace your license plate for every video?
Mars I was thinking the exact same thing.
I live in Nor Ca if I took my plate of I would be pulled over in minutes.
+Mars I never have it on
i end up getting one perks of living in Michigan
Nice.
Gym parts guy doubled the price to 115 plus tax...back the it was selling for 60$
That is because the product was in such high demand the GM made it an official accessory and jack the prices up.
LethalGarage ok so it's so high on demand that not only did they doubled the price but they send used parts to customers...I took my chances and bought the product and all I got was a brake light with a bunch of scuff marks (specially on the bottom) the scratches are so bad that it takes away the shine and its broken on the sides where the light supposed to help it sit tight for install
DO NOT!!!! BUY THIS PRODUCT
+william vega Did you call them and ask them to sort it out?
LethalGarage yes I gave them a call and the guy that answered said that he doesn't deal with that sort of stuff ..he told me to call back again tomorrow
LethalGarage btw thanks for taking some of your time to reply 👍
You know what they say? Once you go black...
