I could watch the chopper all day
Been dairy farming in Northwest Illinois for the last 45 years. The changes in chopping corn silage is absolutely amazing. We were one of the first in our area to have a 2 row head on our chopper. Now one of the custom cutters in our area has one that chops 12 rows .
Farming Fixing and Fabricating, on TH-cam,has many in depth videos on how a chopper works, including the processor, and all the maintenance that goes into it.
Good Times!😎👍💯
The head is a kemper style head that allows you to run on any row spacing. You can harvest 30”,36”,38”,and 40” row springs without changing attachments. Before they developed them you had a different head for each row spacing.
My parents drove down over the weekend from idaho and your farm was one of the stops they had too go visit .. bought me a hat. Now I'll have too go grab it from them
"Get to the choppah!!" ~Arnold Bales
Good show
I love how natural the controls are to him like you can tell he's at that point that his body knows what to do and when cause that little spot he missed was cause he was showing with his hands how the machine crushes
Trevor in Kansas we call them Turn rows. With no flood irrigation we plant 2 times around a field and that is called the turn rows. We enjoyed meeting you in February when we was down there. We have a YT channel that our daughter runs and. We just had or chopping video on at Double G & L Farms
Another great example of farming Bales. Thank you. Watch out for dove hunters this weekend.

Good vid Trevor.
Headlands
In the Midwest, farmers plant end rows around the fields so they have room to turn. They are harvested first. After harvest, when the fields are tilled, that same turning area are generally referred to as headlands.
Always fun to have you out bud
That was a great video
Always interesting. Keep em coming.
