Replying to the 5 year old comment up there, the Beta version didn't have Alice killing nurse Witless but rather being suspected of doing so. Probably even framed.
Knowing who's the villain in the final version I think it's kinda clear who could've been the real murderer.

It would've been even cooler if it had cinematic cutscenes like this.
And it wouldn't be as serious. The premise of the game is deep and really moving, it's about the concepts, not the cut-scenes and flashy imagery (even though it has that too!)

9 years later.... And I'm only seeing the teaser trailer for the first time? I know I never really got or played the game, but I still indulged on watching it a bit.... I really should have found this ages ago.

You know, when you play the 3 trailers in order, they all connect in order. The first showing Alice in therapy, second shows her leaving the office and her mind pulling her into wonderland once again. And this one is where she is in her mind, and she sees first hand how her mind is reverting back to madness.

If someone is here and didn't play thr game , this animation gives no justice to how beautiful the game is the artwork and alice herself are 10000 x times better than this animation, and btw as the maker said alice is facing all the stages of PTSD as she escapes to wonderland but has to face the trauma wherever she is a clever take on how people who went through trauma would relate to this game .
The 1st game was more about her finding out what was causing the decay in Wonderland. The 2nd game is about her Wonderland being affected by her guilt of the night of the fire and her anxiety on finding out what really happened. So it's like a mix of real life and Wonderland, while she fights to survive in both. There's also more story in the 2nd game, gives you more insight on what happened to her family, at the Asylum, all the other characters, etc.
I'm playing this for the first time after it was released 10 years ago.

I think I prefer this type of "Alice in Wonderland". It's more twisted and gritty than any other version.
There should totally be a second one where you can play as any of the characters at the table, and the table is where you would select your character

I understand the graphics are better, but I don't like the lack of a stylized look in this one. It looks somewhat confused and it actually makes the disturbed nature looks less disturbed. I like the look of the game itself better though, but still, if the game were to have a come back, better work on that. Let alice have her middle part, even though we know you can render hair better now, let her have her toadstool shaped dress, I don't care how you can work 'real dress physics', it looks so much more intriguing not to make another confused 'pixar elsa copy'.

The original illustrations were drawn a year or two after the stories originally were written. The story was only published when a friend of Carroll's suggested it after reading it to his children. Tenniel then drew the illustrations of Alice for the publication edition.
He wrote the story on a boat ride for Alice Liddell and gave his first copy, Alice's Adventures Down The Rabbit Hole, to her. It now resides in the British library.

Dr. Bumpy is causing her to destroy Wonderland by making her forget. He planted a train that wrecks havoc and destroys everything and Alice's interpretation of Dr. Bumpy is the "Dollmaker" who is 'the new law of the land' according to the Chesire Cat
Her family died in a fire, supposedly caused by Alice's cat Dinah. The timeline is set after Through The Looking Glass. And the primary motive in both games is to find out whether or not she really did cause her parents to die. She goes a "bit" crazy and you have to play through her warped Wonderland. In the 2nd game, she's healthier, but still consumed by guilt and lack of memories of the night of the fire.

For the ones that are new to this:
Alice (American McGee) is the first game, released approximately 15 years ago. Alice Madness Returns (American McGee) is the sequel. So, they made two games. The trailers didn't appeared in-game and are a bit different since they were created by outer companies, so the result compared with the final thing was different.
Alice: Otherlands is a project the director along with the entire team are planning to do. It will be most likely a live-action since they are looking after cosplayers dressed as Alice (on her blue dress or normal form) to see if they release this idea and probably contract the ideal "Alice" (the cosplayer) to do the project. They will decide whether or not to do it in a future. People can see the description of how to enter to this on the page of the main head of the game which is American McGee.
No, the original, Alice's Adventures Underground, the only "other" version, was just as lighthearted. I know it is tempting to inject dark themes into the Alice mythos, but understand that it is a book for children. Adults love it of course, but it is meant to be lighthearted and fun to read. That is why Carrol filled it with word play, mathematics, and puzzles.

It was a mix of the accusation from the people around her and the survivor's guilt of being the only living member of her family left after the fire, in the first game its made pretty clear in the intro; her anxiety and fear created a hellish netherworld in her head where she lived out her mental torment through the tragically beautiful allegory of her broken wonderland
