I kind of have an idea that the queen represents Alice’s logic and reason. Shes trying to control Wonderland, control Alice’s madness through reason, trying to take it by force. She is also fleshy, kind of similar to a human brain, or that might be reaching a bit. It also helps that she’s portrayed as a younger Alice (not her sister as most think) representing a young, sane Alice. As shown here, she reveals thoughts Alice never thinks of and helps clear her mind to the true issues plaguing Alice and Wonderland. She even says that if Wonderland disappears, she will still be there. Even if Alice’s memories and madness are destroyed, her logic, reasoning and problem solving will still be there.
The queen has always represented what drove Alice insane. Guilt, Anguish, and Anger. In this sequel it takes the more specific form of her victim: her older sister who was raped and murdered by the soon-to-be therapist who is also a pedophile after Alice provided him with the key to her room, while still an innocent and oblivious child. The thought of the Red Queen disgusts Alice and drives her mad because the thought of her sister and what Alice did to her is unbearable and grotesque.

But a reasonable person surrounded by maniacs trying to speak their words just blends in with the crowd. She’s ignored and feared because of how true her words ring.

To be fair, Alice was sent to the Queen specifically because she wasn’t listening. Off the top of my head, Cheshire, Caterpillar, and Carpenter all told her that she was misled to destroy Wonderland and herself via the Train.
I think honesty the Red Queen is one of the best characters in this game, if not the best (besides Alice herself, of course). She has a truly magnificent design and the change in her voice to show you that she has mouths all over the castle...brilliant! My admiration of this game and it's genius simply doesn't seem to cease! (Why the hell am I so obsessed with the concept of Wonderland? I must be mad...Oh well. We're all mad here...)

A theory: Queensland looks the way it does because the Queen of Hearts represents Alice's Id, the deepest, darkest and most primal aspect of her mind. When she visits the Queen, she is visiting her inner child.
Alice had an older sister. And after playing through both the games, I'm pretty sure the Red Queen is merely instinct and survival. She tries to take control when Alice is going mad in order to preserve all of wonderland (or at least most of it), and then secures her home for survival when/if wonderland gets destroyed by the Dollmaker. She would still be alive in Alice even if "Alice" was no longer around because she would be the instinct keeping Alice alive (you can suppress and forget instinct, but you can't destroy it).

Meanwhile Alice wants to be rid of them because they threaten Wonderland. The insane part she retreats to when she can't face reality. The Queen is willing but reluctant to help.

Alice’s madness had transformed the queen of hearts into a tentacle monster. She has no physical form, so she uses a puppet body. The first puppet was less human than this one, the face merely being a mask that falls off when her fight begins. This one is more human (and symbolic of the truth), though still imperfect with the claws and aforementioned lip sync problem.
No like her whole accent has changed in AMA she had a very deep posh voice and in AMR she sounds more high pitched and there's a certain twang to her voice I dunno it's just hard to believe it's the same Queen I guess that's what Alice meant by she was expecting someone else

Don't disobey authority for the sake of disobedience. There needs to be purpose for your rebellion, otherwise you're simply stirring the pot. If there isn't a problem with the rules and regulations, then don't make a scene and ruin it for everyone else. Don't let injustice and unfairness walk all over you. Not only should you be doing everything in your power to rebel against the authority that you dislike, it is your obligation to do so. both stories are good. The first one showed that this 'red queen' was alice all along and a manifestation of her guilt that was destroying her mind. In the second game it's an outside force that's destroying her mind instead which is why she reverts back into madness even after leaving the asylum. I like both stories but for me the shock of finding out Alice herself was the reason for wonderlands destruction in pt1 was better. Plus every character represented parts of herself good and bad.

I think you forgot to realize that the Queen represented Alice's state of mind which in the first game it was her insanity and the second game it's her childhood (since she views the world as a child which is evident in the Vale of Tears and such) hence the Queen is Young Alice.
I loved how they took Alice and turned it super demented. I want another game in the similar. This style and the gameplay revolving around the other Disney villains. Sleeping beauty would be a good one

The Queen IS Alice! In this game, she is not actually Lizzie even though she is called that, she is "Young Alice". In the original game, do you remember, she states "If you destroy me, you destroy yourself!" Also, after battling the Queen in the original, the Queen actually shifts into the appearance of Alice :)

I don't see why people say Queenie is meant to be Lizzie. For one thing, Lizzie was 11 years older then Alice, so Alice wouldn't really have any real memories of Lizzie as a little girl (having not been born for most of Lizzie's childhood and being extremely young for the rest of it). All of Alice's memories would be of Lizzie as a teenager/young woman.

I play that game now and i have to state that is much better than the latest burton film adaptation.Its much darker of course and would not be axcepted for 13 but i waited to see something closer to that in the film.

recently played through both games. understood the plot but everytime alice had a conversation with one of the people in wonderland i could not tell what the fuck they were talking about.
So after I watched the gameplay "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice" and the two "Alice" games, I must say that I get the impression that both of the developers must have informed themselves about mental illness and insanity very thoroughly. Is my suspicion correct or am I getting something wrong here. I know that "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice" was developed after careful research and the gathered knowledge of experts.
@zonilo1 Also it makes sense that she's the one who points the suspect to Bumby as if Alice actually knew it was him all along (and Alice probably knew what Bumby was doing to those kids) but Alice was in denial and the Queen is basically Alice's consciousness.

For those who say that the sequel was unnecessary, I know of two things that may make it more necessary for the saga : -The Queen and the Hatter always say that Alice is runing away from the truth. But what truth is she running from ? I mean, she already feels guilty like they want her too, so it can't be that truth; -Most people have got problems with the fact Alice reverted back to her insane state before the first game, right ? Well, I can actually give you reason on that one, but that's why I've got a fan-fic in which Alice was taken in by Bumbi in return of her help in dealing with her patients, because thanks to her trauma and the damage it caused, she has got a better insight on how to deal with the children. This way, she could keep being the healed and once again happy girl that got out of Rutledge Asylum. However, after being around the doctor for some time, her repressed memories start to resurface vaguely in her dreams, and Bumbi, taking advantage of that mental state that weakens her mind, goes to her room every night and hypnotises her, as he wishes to make a prostitute out of her. This way, she can still have these mental issues she acquired on the second game, but still retain the positive personality she acquired after the first game.
This level was disturbing...the squishing of her footsteps...how the scenery turns to...gore...and then seeing the Queen and when she does that ... mouth thing...
I think your missing the point that the reason the Queen looks the way she does here is because she's weakened and of course she's supposed to represent a psychological twin of Alice hence why she appears as a young child because it's Alice as a young child (they originally planned her as a old woman but changed her to young Alice).

The 2-D cut scenes were my favorite on this game. Though I would have enjoyed a more challenging struggle to go with my fulfilling story. It is a shame the third one will never rise. I know of the petition but EA doesn't see a profit out of this series. McGee should go the route of Suda51 and release the game on his own. Appeal to his fan base and who knows, a third installment just might pull in a larger audience via word of mouth.

It cracks me up how obedient the Red Queen is in the sequel. Rude, but obedient. She really doesn't want to get her ass kicked again.
It's different. Remember The Queen represents Alice's sanity.
In the first game Alice couldn't face reality due to her guilt over her parents' death. That's why the Queen was the ultimate enemy. Here the Queen's goals are the same as Alice's for different reasons. As her sanity The Queen wants to be rid of the manipulation and false and faded memories caused by the Doctor due to the fact what the Doctor wants Alice to think isn't reality. Meanwhile Alice wants to be rid of them because they threaten Wonderland. The insane part she retreats to when she can't face reality. The Queen is willing but reluctant to help.

both stories are good. The first one showed that this 'red queen' was alice all along and a manifestation of her guilt that was destroying her mind. In the second game it's an outside force that's destroying her mind instead which is why she reverts back into madness even after leaving the asylum. I like both stories but for me the shock of finding out Alice herself was the reason for wonderlands destruction in pt1 was better. Plus every character represented parts of herself good and bad.

The juxtapositions the Queen embodies are very complex and wonderful. In the first game, she represented Alice's antagonistic half in the form of a usurper. The wonder of this is, that where Alice is the architect of Wonderland (the mind), she lost control of it to the Queen whose insignia represents not a fictional land, but life -- that is, real life in the crudest sense: so long as the heart beats, there is no need for the conscious mind, and it is precisely why the Queen wants to seize control after Alice loses control of herself and Wonderland. I think you forgot to realize that the Queen represented Alice's state of mind which in the first game it was her insanity and the second game it's her childhood (since she views the world as a child which is evident in the Vale of Tears and such) hence the Queen is Young Alice.

It would make more sense for her to be Alice because in AMA The Queen’s mouth opens to reveal the Hatter (the queen represents her whole mind aka the heart, the Hatter represents her fear of death) in the Hatter’s mouth reveals Alice therefore the queen is Alice :)

The Queen IS Alice! In this game, she is not actually Lizzie even though she is called that, she is "Young Alice". In the original game, do you remember, she states "If you destroy me, you destroy yourself!"
Also, after battling the Queen in the original, the Queen actually shifts into the appearance of Alice :)

I don't see why people say Queenie is meant to be Lizzie. For one thing, Lizzie was 11 years older then Alice, so Alice wouldn't really have any real memories of Lizzie as a little girl (having not been born for most of Lizzie's childhood and being extremely young for the rest of it). All of Alice's memories would be of Lizzie as a teenager/young woman.

I play that game now and i have to state that is much better than the latest burton film adaptation.Its much darker of course and would not be axcepted for 13 but i waited to see something closer to that in the film.

recently played through both games. understood the plot but everytime alice had a conversation with one of the people in wonderland i could not tell what the fuck they were talking about.
So after I watched the gameplay "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice" and the two "Alice" games, I must say that I get the impression that both of the developers must have informed themselves about mental illness and insanity very thoroughly. Is my suspicion correct or am I getting something wrong here. I know that "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice" was developed after careful research and the gathered knowledge of experts.

For those who say that the sequel was unnecessary, I know of two things that may make it more necessary for the saga :
-The Queen and the Hatter always say that Alice is runing away from the truth. But what truth is she running from ? I mean, she already feels guilty like they want her too, so it can't be that truth;
-Most people have got problems with the fact Alice reverted back to her insane state before the first game, right ? Well, I can actually give you reason on that one, but that's why I've got a fan-fic in which Alice was taken in by Bumbi in return of her help in dealing with her patients, because thanks to her trauma and the damage it caused, she has got a better insight on how to deal with the children. This way, she could keep being the healed and once again happy girl that got out of Rutledge Asylum. However, after being around the doctor for some time, her repressed memories start to resurface vaguely in her dreams, and Bumbi, taking advantage of that mental state that weakens her mind, goes to her room every night and hypnotises her, as he wishes to make a prostitute out of her. This way, she can still have these mental issues she acquired on the second game, but still retain the positive personality she acquired after the first game.
This level was disturbing...the squishing of her footsteps...how the scenery turns to...gore...and then seeing the Queen and when she does that ... mouth thing...
I think your missing the point that the reason the Queen looks the way she does here is because she's weakened and of course she's supposed to represent a psychological twin of Alice hence why she appears as a young child because it's Alice as a young child (they originally planned her as a old woman but changed her to young Alice).

The 2-D cut scenes were my favorite on this game. Though I would have enjoyed a more challenging struggle to go with my fulfilling story. It is a shame the third one will never rise. I know of the petition but EA doesn't see a profit out of this series. McGee should go the route of Suda51 and release the game on his own. Appeal to his fan base and who knows, a third installment just might pull in a larger audience via word of mouth.
