      It’s not an old person thing. Everyone thinks their stuff is worth a fortune compared to what people are willing to pay. I just went to a consignment sale for kids clothes and those young moms were smoking something when they priced used clothes. 😂 In some cases old people do have things that are worth a fortune in the right market but next to nothing in the wrong one. I have my grandmother’s Frozen Charlottes at one time they were worth a mint, and may be again one day but right now they sell for next to nothing. I also have her old wooden record player which used to be worth nothing but would sell quickly for several hundred dollars right now.
      I’ve also thrown away junk like garbage pail cards, Atari and Nintendo games that are selling for crazy prices.
      What you can sell something for and what something is worth are two very different things.

    I've been into antiques (vintage records included), primarily as a buyer, since I was about 13 years old. I know the minds of buyers and sellers. The defendant saw dollars signs when he heard that the plaintiff had crates of vintage vinyl and didn't care about anything but getting up there to grab them. As is so often the case when dealing with a non-collector, they usually are totally off in describing what they have, and think their junk is worth big-bucks. The stuff in the photo's was flea-market fodder that, if it does sell, goes for nickles and dimes. Many times I fell for someone at work, family, neighbors, who said "I got a whole box of those in storage, you can have them!" only to be disappointed. It's either they don't really have anything; "I can't find the box/I don't have the time right now to look", or "Yeah, I got the box out........you can give me whatever you think they're worth". In the end it's a TOTAL waste of time and can cause resentment with both parties.

    • @Pinchington

      @undergrounddojokeyboardcag701 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I think the other guy flat out lied about the number of records he had.
      You don't confuse like 4 or 5 crates with 150.
      If he was not lying, then he meant to say "Records" (as that sounds more accurate) but for some reason never corrected himself.
      That said, i again, think he's lying. I think he needed the other guy to come out and take crap out of his storage.

    The defendant showed no class at the end. But I enjoyed looking at the Alfalfa piece of hair that was a lacquered piece that rebelled! Was he trying to cover a bald spot? Still the worst he did, besides lie, was calling the plaintiff names at the end.
    I thought the Judge would have awarded way more! Especially, after she established the defendant was a liar. I was very disappointed by the Judge's decision.

    • @teddym2808
      @teddym2808 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kre410 You couldn't be more wrong. The only way we can start talking "as good quality as analog" is at insane digital sample rate levels, since analog doesn't have this limitation to begin with.
      So sure, if we are talking 384KHZ 32 bit audio files, that will essentially capture everything from an analog recording, provided a capable pro level audio interface is used. You do realise that ALL real instruments are analog, yes?
      In any case, let's say for arguments sake that I am wrong and you are right.
      The issue still remains, that the most popular digital formats deliver music in a lossy format and are only at a max of 96K. That's only with specific devices, for example in Apple's cases, APPLE devices.
      When you plug your phone into your car and stream digital you are getting a much lower format.
      You can test this yourself, Take a cd recording then rip the CD to apple music format. Invert the phase of one and you will see what has been lost in Apple music.
      And that's just vs a CD, which is only 16 bit/44.1K. Remember, this is digital vs digital, so nothing could be lost during the actual transfer itself.
      Yes, if you have powerful equipment and ample net bandwidth and data, at home it is feasible to download your music in the maximum quality offered, and even lossless in many cases. So that's ONE scenario where you might have an argument. But not when on the go in any way shape or form. And even then, 32 bit/96K is still inferior, frequency wise, to analog. There's no case where digital can provide better sound. It can provide cleaner more sterile sound, but that's a different thing.
      Why do you think that musicians like myself spend stupid amounts of money to get real analog gear in the studio? Most of those digital recording you love have been recorded with such gear. Why do we strive for analog synths? Cause digital can not produce the same frequencies and warmth. Every time an analog synth is recorded to digital format it loses something. Every time.

  • @mss627
    @mss627 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Vinyl records are analog. CDs and MP3s are digital copies of an analog signal. They can never be as accurate as the original no matter how many times you sample it. Vinyl records, if maintained properly, is a purer form of the music. How much for the judgemental Santa? I want to put it in my nieces' bedroom as a constant reminder of his disappointment.
