The fact that she cried as soon as her arms were spread out like that proves why swaddling calms them so much. Newborns get twitchy and they feel that sensation of falling backwards when they're trying to fall asleep with their arms are spread out like that. It's because they're so used to being contained and I think that position feels too free and vulnerable. That was nice of them to continue to soothe her! The result was beautiful!

@Cierra Franklynn so true. My baby hated having her arms tucked to her side. She slept with one are fully extended all the time… if you tried swaddling, she wigged until she got free, then promptly fell asleep.
Not always, my son hated it. He would always break out of a swaddle. He preferred to sleep on my chest, though that wasn't always possible.
When I was a baby I hated being swaddled and preferred to sleep with my arms and legs stretched out. I hated blankets and clothes too. Wonder what happened.

As a photographer myself, I swore off baby photography because I simply just don't have the patience to pose the baby for 3 hours and then take another 3 hours to get that perfect shot 🤣

But it's so easy with babies. They're either sleepy, hungry, need their diaper changed, or want some cuddles. They might be in pain occassionally if they get sick, but that's a different situation. Toddlers? Hell no.

I was a newborn photographer's assistant for a while in my early twenties. It really goes like this. You have to be super gentle and slow when moving the baby. In some positions, there is an assistant supporting the baby and holding them up, only their hands or fingers are photoshopped out in the end result.
Also, that room is a balmy 80°. Gotta simulate the womb to get the baby to nap for most of it.

@@EmanDeMoanI personally don’t like them much either, but I think it’s just for the memory, so they have some nice photos of the baby before they grow up.
I love how she made sure the baby was ok before continuing and she made sure the baby was calm and didn’t force her to move to a pose she slowly moved the baby and when the baby’s got upset the photographer comforted her and within thirty minutes the baby won’t even remember crying. Job perfectly done ✅

Dang she didn't do nothing to the baby at all. She did her job like the parents asked her to do. The baby wasn't harmed only got upset by moving the baby as she tried to fall asleep. Trust me I have two kids when they was babies they didn't like that they was moved from carseat to their baby bed to finish out their sleep until their next feeding. They grow out of it when they get older and find new things to cry about like when mom or dad leaves the room their in. Or when we don't hurry up with their food early in the morning. She was super gentle and caring.

@@thesloth2446 the way I talked about her patience is how she waited for the baby to stay in certain poses to start the photography session. While me and of course a lot of other moms, I'm not going to have my child to have a certain pose in a daily life obviously. therefore I think her patience towards the baby is amazing to achieve certain photo results :) patience of a mother and patience of doing a job is a whole different thing

My father told me the photographer was in love with me bc he said "i have only seen 2 newborns this calm and your son is one of them" lmao
on the envelope of my baby photos, the photographer wrote "thank you for pushing me to get therapy" LMAO i was the fussiest baby possible. hated EVERYONE and everything unless it was my dang stuffed fish. took an entire workday just to get three pictures, and im starting to cry in the third- you can see my face turn sour between the 3 shots he took in about a second after probably a good 7-8 hours overall. i had multiple sessions with him because no one else had the patience

Grew up as a professional photographer in my dad's studio. Nigerian parents take studio pictures of their kids every month or every few months until age 1. It broke my young back how long it took to get the poses they wanted. My dad's apprentices would make me take the shots because I was young and able to stay on my knee, bent forward for so long. Started at age 10. Beautiful memories, now.

I used to work at the Santa Clause set & since I was the only one working there that had any pride in my work I actually cared that the kids smiled for their parents. So, I would go down the line & tell the ppl if they think their child may cry to not let the child see Santa or who’s lap they’re sitting on & I will keep their attention & & get their smile. I think my best time was like 15 babies in 20 Minutes. I had moms all night telling me I was so good w/ kids. Babies are easy, adults not so much. Lol!
If anyone is wondering yes, of course I allowed the older kids their time to chat with Santa. It’s the little babies that you can get in & out as long as they don’t actually see Santa is the one holding them.

As a mother..my instinct is to automatically think someone did something to my baby if I hear him cry..but being with him I know that majority of the time he is crying for no reason.
So true! Crying of the baby triggers chemical reactions in our brain in order to defend the baby, so yes - mothers would get angry and emotional hearing the baby cry. In my case crying of other babies was also triggering my milk supply. My child was sleeping, I've hear the cry in the store and immediately was alerted and breast leaking. Nature is amazing!
