    Just FYI to all you DIY people, it is 10/10 easier to do by removing the air box prior to removing hoses. It is 1 plastic clip attached to the fan shroud and 1 10mm bolt attached to the air box about a foot from the plastic clip mentioned earlier. 2 rubber bushings hold the rest in place and it easily slips off of them with a little elbow grease. Hope this helps!
    Edit: also make sure your gaskets are properly seated. Just reassembled everything only to find out it was half ass seated😠

      Yes thats what i did first the air box way much easier

      I’d remove the box if I could find my 10mm socket.

    I got a 2015 of these things. This thermostat is a cake walk compared to mine! Giant pain in the ass. The last bolt holding the thermostat was driving me crazy. If you got catchers mitt hands good luck

    Remove that plastic piece and there goes your paint on your hood(that's what they are for. To protect the paint on your hood from the heat of your engine

    So, you only changed one thermostat? I assume that fixed your problem? Seems like a 50/50 gamble.

    Plastic covers are usually to try to lower engine noise

    I'm having an issue with my chysler200 2013, temp gauge stays mid range while driving but when idling ,temp will rise and overheat light will come on. once I get going again it will drop and stay mid range . any ideas ??

      First I would check and make sure the coolant level is correct. If that is fine, you may have a partially stuck thermostat or other blockage, or your water pump may be starting to go bad and is not pumping enough at idle. These would be my best guess.

      I had this issue, was a coolant leak at thermostat assembly, but more than likely you need a new thermostat housing, they’re plastic and being up against medal engine..... needless to say the designed it poorly. I hate this car because of the battery. Ima stay away from Chrysler and dodge from now on.

    Would have been helpful if you had shown what kind of pliers finally did the job. Now, we have to go through the same process of elimination as you did.

      If I remember correctly I ended up using a stubby pair with a slight bend in them, manly do to them being the only ones I had that would fit in the space given.

    Can you do a video on adding Freon to this 200 or can you please tell me where on this engine is the lower nozzle so that I can refill it. Thank you.

    My wife's 2013 Chryser 200 doesn't have the engine cover. It was missing when we got the car. The cover is supposed to reduce engine noise. Do you notice any difference with cover on vs off?

    • @JustAGearHead
      @JustAGearHead  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There seems to be a fair amount of debate on what those covers actually do. So far I haven’t noticed any real difference in the way the car sounds or performs. Thanks for watching.

      Its not just a cover it catches air from below and flows it over the car. It is an integral part of the operation and efficiency of the car.
