Dear Barry, greatness indeed! I loved this duet. I was fascinated with Li so I researched him; turns out he’s an opera singer specializing in female roles! No wonder he could sing high notes. Li and Dimash truly complemented each other. Noted your keen observation about Li with Aaron Neville quality, the little reverberations in his voice (is this the correct term?). Thank you for finding this awesome video. I have seen Dimash duet with Lara Fabian but I like this duet with Li more. Waiting for the next ride on the Barry Bus ☘️.

This version took me a little while to understand and digest, now I think it is phantastic! I love Ulysse, with Aida Garifullina, with Victor Ma, where they they do a rap battle to Earth Song (sensational), duet with Tengri, and a vocaloid Luo Tianyi in Jasmine, same song with Wu Tong who plays the flute with his nose (!) and A Question of Honour, sensational though a bit too much to see and hear at the same time :) with wonderful Zarina Altinbaeva. Tu vas me détruire, from musical Notre Dame de Paris, with a very young Dimash and Sundet Baigozhin. Not everyone can appreciate the tones of traditional Chinese opera, especially in the "West." These gentlemen (and whomever did the arrangement) did a fantastic job making this duet work so well. Thanks, as always, Barry.

Китаю отдельное спасибо за такое шоу! Наш Димаш сидел на троне и он его оправдал своим выступлением, в первую очередь, что пел на китайском языке! Второй участник пел по китайски и в стиле китайской оперы.Нам сложнее понять все прелести китайской оперы, но звучало достойно и понятно! А Димашу пришлось подстраиваться под пение второго и как всегда на 5++++. Я не музыкальный критик, но Димаш очень красиво поддержал коллегу по сцене! Да предпологаю, что было задумано не как конкурс, а как показательное выступление и главное все были на своём месте! Димаш молодец!!! Побольше таких выступлений! Спасибо всем кто дочитал!!! Hello. From Brazil. The drunken concubine in dialogue tells the tragic story between a famous concubine of the Chinese imperial court (played by Li YuGan, a very popular singer in China) and the emperor (role of Dimash) that is why there are thrones on stage. At the end of the story (not in the video), the concubine is poisoned as a result of intrigue in the imperial court. It is an interesting duel at the moment when singing Diva Dance and Dimash reaches D8, but Dimash's solo performances of this song, both in the video in which he sings Confessa, as for the presentation at a concert, are much better. Either way, it impresses Li Yugang's traditional way of singing. Thanks for the reaction. Your comments are always important and consistent.
@Selma Linhares Hello Selma. Nice write up! One small error - Dimash did not sing D8 in this song. He is singing F#7 here. Not every whistle register note is D8. Call is whistle if you don't know what note it is.

Thanks for a great reaction and review, Barry. As always, Dimash sang beautifully. Li is a Peking Opera singer who is trained to be able to do female parts within the opera. Drunken Concubine, Li was singing the part of the concubine and Dimash was singing the part of the Emperor. Li's voice in the classical Peking Opera style has a bit of twang to it. Dimash's voice is just simply pure and warm and clear, and of course, he threw in that whistle note just for fun. The last note, Dimash's note was the higher one. Yes, Dimash should always be sitting on a throne. Totally agree. Only love and respect for Dimash. More Dimash please.
My ears have died and gone to heaven. I absolutely love them together. So unique and dramatic! Dimash with the more global, Arabic sound and Li with the very classic ancient Chinese sounds. Who knew they would be so complimentary together? Thank you Barry!

Thanks again Barry. Love this duet, Dimash is so good at blending his voice with other peoples because he can just choose the voice that fits ! Not just from his vocal agility but also because of his musical knowledge , whether in a duet or on his own, Dimash is a master at choosing which - of his many voices - will sound best.

As I mentioned last time, next should be Dimash and Tengri, "Swan Goose", also very good is Dimash And Wu Tong, "Jasmin Flower", that's spectacular. And a special Dimash and his younger sister Raushan.
Hi Barry! Isn't Dimash a perfect duetpartner? Always complementing the other singer but still does his part amazingly. Others have commented on Li Yugangs status as a famous singer of Chinese Opera and a celebrity in general and of course older (42 y) than Dimash so I think it is safe to say it is a compliment for Dimash to be invited to sing this duet in China. Wiki says Mr Li is a very humble being so that makes me hapoy as I am sure they enjoyed the collaboration mutually. When will the review of Znaj happen, she just could not keep herfelf from asking? But as long as your Dimash reviews keep coming I remain a happy BB! X0 from 🇸🇪.

I am so pleased you've reacted to this video. Two amazing talents with such different styles that combine beautifully. I've long been a fan of Li Yugang, so I was delighted at this duet.
Dimash was very strong in this duet. I am not familiar with Li Y but I really enjoyed his performance too. They were a good compliment for each other. Often times Dimash will contain himself and not out play the other person (it is part of his basic personality)... however, in this duet, he cut loose because the other vocalist was holding his own and it was really a fun video to watch. Thank you for presenting it.
As usual your reactions are so amazing. This duet is like an aerial game of ping pong instead of balls they played with their vocals, Li Yugang is also a wonderful singer but being a Dimash lover I would have to say he showed such respect for Li’s vocals and as usual he reigned supreme. Not a lover of Chinese Opera but this performance was Perfection Plus. His performance on The Singer with Super Vocal Boys of Love of My Life, Queen, is absolutely sublime. This is so gorgeous.... a peerless blending of eastern and western operatic styles! It seems that nobody singing today can match Dimash's power but Li YuGang's voice is so pure and lovely. I love this!

Dimash is very tall and you can see it here clearly, at 9:13 you can see Li Yugang has built up shoes so that he does not seem so much smaller than Dimash. I think this is a cultural thing, and Dimash is so nice to him! They both have such fantastic voices! Love the East/West play as some of our other Dears have explained. Dimash sings the part of the Tang dynasty Emperor Xuanzong and Li sings the part of Imperial Consort Yang, the woman he fell so madly in love with that he neglected state affairs. A rebel army was raised and defeated the emperor's own army; his own generals threatened to revolt unless he kills the Imperial Consort who so bewitched the Emperor and brought ruin to the nation. The Emperor had no choice but to sentence her to death, and she was given a glass of poisoned wine. As she drank it and lay dying, she sang this song to remind him of the love they shared and reminisce of happier times when she was drunk in his arms (In the 6 Palaces, there are 3000 concubines, but you loved only one. Love and hate changes in an instant. I would dance and sing and get drunk in your arms underneath the full moon. Perhaps this is just another drunken dream.)
Li Yugang is well-known for playing both male and female roles or "yan dan" in Chinese theater. He's able to change his voice to a special female sound that he's developed. I'm guessing that's all we're hearing in this for the most part.

I'm always impressed with people who are brave enough to sing with Dimash. Swan Goose is really lovely, and I really think you would enjoy reacting to it. It's quite beautiful. Though, let's face it, it's next to impossible to find a song of Dimash's that isn't beautiful in some way or another.

Thanks for a great reaction and review, Barry. As always, Dimash sang beautifully. Li is a Peking Opera singer who is trained to be able to do female parts within the opera. Drunken Concubine, Li was singing the part of the concubine and Dimash was singing the part of the Emperor. Li's voice in the classical Peking Opera style has a bit of twang to it. Dimash's voice is just simply pure and warm and clear, and of course, he threw in that whistle note just for fun. The last note, Dimash's note was the higher one. Yes, Dimash should always be sitting on a throne. Totally agree. Only love and respect for Dimash. More Dimash please.

Hi Barry! Isn't Dimash a perfect duetpartner? Always complementing the other singer but still does his part amazingly. Others have commented on Li Yugangs status as a famous singer of Chinese Opera and a celebrity in general and of course older (42 y) than Dimash so I think it is safe to say it is a compliment for Dimash to be invited to sing this duet in China. Wiki says Mr Li is a very humble being so that makes me hapoy as I am sure they enjoyed the collaboration mutually.

Dimash was very strong in this duet. I am not familiar with Li Y but I really enjoyed his performance too. They were a good compliment for each other. Often times Dimash will contain himself and not out play the other person (it is part of his basic personality)... however, in this duet, he cut loose because the other vocalist was holding his own and it was really a fun video to watch. Thank you for presenting it.

This duet is like an aerial game of ping pong instead of balls they played with their vocals, Li Yugang is also a wonderful singer but being a Dimash lover I would have to say he showed such respect for Li’s vocals and as usual he reigned supreme. Not a lover of Chinese Opera but this performance was Perfection Plus. His performance on The Singer with Super Vocal Boys of Love of My Life, Queen, is absolutely sublime. Dimash is very tall and you can see it here clearly, at 9:13 you can see Li Yugang has built up shoes so that he does not seem so much smaller than Dimash. I think this is a cultural thing, and Dimash is so nice to him! They both have such fantastic voices! Love the East/West play as some of our other Dears have explained. Have you yet reacted to Dimash's tribute to Queen with the "Super Vocal Boys" from another Chinese voice competition? Dimash shows us that he can do anything - possibly everything imaginable... Be ready for a treat... a fan from across the pond. 2020
Dimash sings the part of the Tang dynasty Emperor Xuanzong and Li sings the part of Imperial Consort Yang, the woman he fell so madly in love with that he neglected state affairs. A rebel army was raised and defeated the emperor's own army; his own generals threatened to revolt unless he kills the Imperial Consort who so bewitched the Emperor and brought ruin to the nation. The Emperor had no choice but to sentence her to death, and she was given a glass of poisoned wine. As she drank it and lay dying, she sang this song to remind him of the love they shared and reminisce of happier times when she was drunk in his arms (In the 6 Palaces, there are 3000 concubines, but you loved only one. Love and hate changes in an instant. I would dance and sing and get drunk in your arms underneath the full moon. Perhaps this is just another drunken dream.)
Li Yugang is well-known for playing both male and female roles or "yan dan" in Chinese theater. He's able to change his voice to a special female sound that he's developed. I'm guessing that's all we're hearing in this for the most part.

I'm always impressed with people who are brave enough to sing with Dimash. Swan Goose is really lovely, and I really think you would enjoy reacting to it. It's quite beautiful. Though, let's face it, it's next to impossible to find a song of Dimash's that isn't beautiful in some way or another.
