*The stutter was actually a joke. They were recording background vocals and just messing around. The singers brother has a stutter so he was singing it that way as a joke to be funny with his bro. The execs liked it with the stutter and that's how it came to be..*
The stutter was not suppose to be in the the song originally. After they recorded the song w/o the stutter I believe it was Randy Bachman decided to prank his brother who has a stutter by singing the sing with the stutter. The studio happen to record this version also. When the record execs heard the 1st song they were not to thrill. Then the studio played the one with the stutter and the rest is history. They were a very good band and their songs deserve being reacted to. You have a blessed day.
Randy Bachman was part of The Guess Who & then went on to have a solo career with BTO. Both were great Canadian rock bands. BTO had a lot of great songs in the 70's such as "Let It Ride", "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet", "Takin' Care Of Business", "Hey You", "Roll On Down The Highway", "Lookin' Out For #1" etc.
the Guess Who had 15 hits and were incredible - when it broke up Randy formed BT) (after Brave Belt in between) and Burton Cummings lead vocals from Guess Who went solo and quite a few hits - like STand Tall, My Own Way To Rock ,etc with Guess Who American Woman, Share The Land, These Eyes, Undun, No Sugar Tonite etc
@@jethro1963 thanks but I knew and then Domenic Troiano joined GW for a while - that's why I mentioned Brave Belt - Dom had been in Bush his prior band which is why Bush X had to be titled such in Canada til they made a deal with Dom to be able to use Bush
Dude, you absolutely get this! Good on you! The stutter made this amazing! This was a classic and if you didn't understand then I would have wondered about your soul. I love you faith and I share in it.
The Bachman brothers grew up in my home town Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Randy’s brother Garry had a bad stutter. Randy wrote the song to tease Garry. He told him it would be on their next album. He never had any intention of recording it. They used it as a warm up song in the studio. After working on their next album, they were short one song. Their manager suggested recording it, without the stutter. It didn’t sound as good, so they recorded with the stutter and they had a hit. Before forming BTO Randy was with “The Guess Who” who were famous in their own right with many hits. They were also home town boys and my husband used to play pool with Burton Cummings in the North End when they were teens. Burton also went on to have a successful solo career as well. Another fun fact: Neal Young ( born in Toronto) grew up and began his music career in Winnipeg. This shows the prairies produce some pretty talented singers!
These are my hometown boys 💜 Other Songs. Rolling Down the Highway, Taking Care of Business, Let it Ride and one of my favourites Blue Collar which has more of a jazzy feel to it. Cheers from Winnipeg
Cheers from Canada. Grew up on music like BTO. “Four Wheel Drive” , “Let It Ride” , and “Takin’ Care of Business” are three personal favourites ... but there’s lots of other great ones too.
"You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" went to #1 in twenty two countries around the globe. The band line up is : - Randy Bachman, 1st lead guitar and vocals, C.F. (Fred) Turner, bass guitar, Blair Thornton 2nd lead guitar, Robin ( Robbie) Bachman, drums and percussion.
The late 60's through the 80's were wild when it came to music. 🤣😂 I think that's why my musical tastes are so eclectic. I like a little bit of just about every genre from classical to rap.
I learned from an interview with Randy Bachman years and years ago that he wanted BTO to be a rhythm based rock band. But I didn't know until very recently that they were sharing a dressing room with the Doobie Brothers in New Orleans during Mardi Gras in the first half of the 1970s when he worked out some of "Let It Ride" and the Doobies then based "Long Train Running" on his guitar noodlings as he ironed it out. That is astonishing and good to know because the Doobies are one of my all time favourite bands! Randy said in that interview eons ago, back in the 1970s IIRC, that he wanted a band that was rhythmically similar to CCR and the Doobies. Killer rhythm was the thing back in the 1970s and is much too absent from today's music. And BTO has so many excellent lead guitar solos! 😉🎸👌 That "70s sound of guitar" comes from there not being many guitar pedals to alter the sound of the guitar at the time. So if you were going to be an excellent guitarist you had to have "touch" in your fingers. There are plenty of good guitar players around today but also way too many that bury the actual tone of their guitars underneath a ton of effects pedals. The really good guitar players around today will tell you to develop your own signature "sound" with your guitar before drifting off into "guitar pedal-land" and obscurity because you just sound like some over processed thing that no one can get next to in their heart and mind. The lead guitarist in this song was Blair Thornton from Vancouver. 🎸🎸🎸
the singer is Rand Bachman but what makes this group so darn good is the bass player, CF Turner (Fred Turner). He sings the majority of their hits like Take Like A Man, Let It Ride, Gimme Your Money Please, and Heartaches. A gravely voiced singer.
I grew up on this tune. It is very simple, yet it takes you in. The band takes the audience with them. In 1973, at any time you tuned on the FM radio there was about a 20% chance this song would be playing.
I know of this group because when I was a kid, I remember my Dad playing alot of their songs...45s on the record player! My favorite then and now is "Let it Roll". Hopefully you'll react to that one because I really believe you'll love it! It has a mad beat and just plain rocks!!! Loved your reaction to this one!
Here in Brazil, this song was very successful in ballads, and everyone liked the rhythm, as for the singer's stutter, it gave the song an Up, this set Bachman Turner Overdrive is very cool.
This guy (me) was a sophomore in high school when I fell in love with BTO and this song off this album! Still do... I won't do anything that doesn't accomplish anything, so I won't be praying for you, but I'll keep listening as long as you keep playing great music and don't get too damn preachy... :) We don't all believe the same wacky things you do.
I absolutely loved your reaction. I love bachman-turner overdrive. I was raised as a teenager in that time period, And they were a very hot band. You are something else, fun to watch 👀 and I appreciate seeing you for the first time. So I’m gonna subscribe because you entertained me and made me smile.😁 Sincerely Tami 🙋🏼♀️🌺💞😇
I love you spirit and your fun nature. As christians we can take joy in all things. Just a note: When they went to record, the lead singer kept studdering during that part. He couldn't stop studduring so they left it in and it became a hit!
BTO was the very first band I saw. Saw them several times, here in Winnipeg. Here it is, 2022 and I still miss them! I suggest you to a reaction to, Roll On Down the Highway! The vocals are done my C.F. Turner. His vocals were amazing. Plus, the song just...ROCKS!!
The rumor has it that he put in the stutter to show his brother, etc. that it was not a bad thing to stutter.” Roll on the Highway” is a guitar riff…period. It is fire.
Devin and commenters, after Randy Bachman left The Guess Who he had two other bands besides BTO. The bands were 'Brave Belt' and 'Ironhorse'. You may like their following Canadian hit songs: 1) Brave Belt - Dunrobin's Gone 2) Ironhorse - What's Your Hurry Darlin' / Sweet Lui-Louise. Enjoy!
I believe Dunrobin's Gone (nice song) had Chad Allan singing lead. Chad Allan left Brave Belt before they became BTO and left Chad Allan and the Expressions just as they became The Guess Who. Lots of whatifs there.
It's very interesting that you would bring up his choice to stutter in this song. There is another Classic Rock song in which the singer did the same thing. Check out My Generation by the Who. I think you might like it.
BTO morphed out of The Guess Who. Look them up for some monster rock. BTO never failed to rock out and I was just a kid in the 70s and both bands blew me away and I still have original vinyl from both!! Loved your reaction!
I’m a big fan of BTO from Montréal Quebec Canada I saw them in 1975.. Randy Bachman had a brother that stuttered so it was kind of a message to him. The sad news Randy other brother Rob the drummer he passed away January 11, 2023 .. remember that every of BTO songs have a story behind it. … did you know that Randy Bachman wrote the song American Woman when he was with The Guess Who before BTO in Winnipeg.. check out the live with ‘’No Time’’ & ‘’American Woman’’ same TH-cam video.. enjoy
This is one of their more poppy rock tunes geared to AM Radio. Try "Not Fragile" for the real BTO, even Let It Ride is a bit more of a Banger. Once u have done them, then we can did deep into the Power of BTO
Thanks Devin for the Canadian content. Please do more BTO, try Four Wheel Drive!!! great metal song. Next try the official video from April Wine song called ROLLER!
Hi Brother, Hope Ya'll are doing well, could you react to Dillon Carmichael Live at The Grand Ole Opry " SON OF A " is the song & his Mom is singing back- up for him. It's a Beautiful Song TY & God Bless Ya'll
Am I mistaken? I thought a famous person (musician) with a stutter had once said the song title and Randy thought it would be a good song. Not mocking the guy. Sort of a tribute/tribute. Devin, "Takin' Care of Business" is the ULTIMATE party song.
*The stutter was actually a joke. They were recording background vocals and just messing around. The singers brother has a stutter so he was singing it that way as a joke to be funny with his bro. The execs liked it with the stutter and that's how it came to be..*
Yep, that is what happened.
Right on brother the Bible is the only book we all need to read 🙏🙏😎

Just the right amount of COW BELL!! 😄🤟
The stutter was supposed to be a joke to his brother but the producers wanted to leave it in!

BANGER FROM THE EARLY 70'S !!! YESSSS one of my favs from that era ! This is good stuff !
I love this song from the 70's. Was a huge hit here in South Africa. 👍👍🇿🇦
We had such great music in the 70s! I was a Junior in High School, we heard this song all the time, everywhere. So fun.
I second that 😊

Timothy bachman pass away is electric guitar and Ronnie bachman play the drums and Fred turner play the base guitar.

What is it that I’ll never forget?
Randy Bachman still tours and has a YT channel with his son Tal: Bachman & Bachman.
