I can't believe you're in shoals creek!! I've caught all my biggest catfish by the bridge next to the hotel! My biggest one was over 70lb

Thanks Justin. I snell smaller circle hooks for bass wackey rigged with 4 inch Yum dingers. I am currently using a fly tying vice to hold the hook and going thru the eye twice to protect the main line from sliding into the gap where the end of the shank stops. Then I use the uni snell. All of the knots that require wrapping with a loop seem very difficult to tie for my 65 year old eyes and fingers!

hey man small tip for you on the bait adjustment in Alabama right now and how i have been catching them here on Pickwick lake. 1. one thing I've noticed is cutting the gut pocket out and cutting chunks of the skipjack into 1-3ins chunk sizes. Tip number 2 on how I've been catching them is dragging channel ledges in the main river and anchoring up casting up near fallen trees on bluffs that tend to be where the flatheads have been. Bluegill have been a great bait choice rn also good luck great video

There’s an old lock at the end of the first creek on north side just below Wheeler dam. Good place to catch big cats. The creek is Blue Water.

I watch another TH-cam channel called Spencer river certified and if I recall correctly he is in Alabama and also does some kayak fishing as well as tournament fishing. I thought perhaps you might be able to talk with him about some places there to fish. I think he primarily fishes tournaments from his aluminum boat. Anyway, I hope that you are successful in your tournament and ca😅some golly whoppers. Keep up the great work and catching great fish 🙌👍💪👊

Justin I believe that those were hybrids actual Blue/Channel blends.
What gives them away is the short Anal Ray Fin, because you know that a True Blue Catfish AKA “Ictalurus furcatus” , has an elongated A.R.F, as opposed to the Channel Catfish AKA “Ictalurus punctatus” which has the more stubbier Anal Ray Fin.
What are your thoughts, but as usual awesome video really appreciate your content, and I thought you were gonna pull a Santee Cooper Reservoir and get em from the Bank killing two Birds with one stone.
Because you’ve got a great chance to catch whatever the effective baits are right there in some of those areas like that bank area on Santee cooper.
Justin i’m not familiar with the tournament rules but if you’re able to keep you a sniping rod and rig on the kayak with you and use it without being penalized absolutely keep it with you, just in case you see Fish higher up in the water column.

Justin, I just bought an inflatable boat to fish in, (and maybe nap between bites).

Not sure when I'm going to try it out.
My question for you is have you ever tipped over or fallen into cold water while kayak fishing?
If so, how did that situation go?
I can't help but think about that myself especially with water still not exactly warm.
Fortunately, I have never went overboard in cold water. Hopefully it never happens.

Love your videos! I've been wondering what kind of camera are you using? As does it have long battery life?
I was using a GoPro 10 in this video. Battery life is terrible without an external battery pack
Couple quick questions if you will, how far back do you let your line out? Is it according to how deep? Lastly, when tying your circle hook, how do you get it to cinch good and tight? Another awesome video!

I use a no knot snell for the circle hooks. The more tension on the line, the tighter it cinches.

We use fishing chaos. They are listed under “online catfishing tournaments”

@@KayakCatfish Have been in the woods before and you could hear it coming through the trees and when driving be out west where its really flat seeing it coming at you. The strangest time was looking out the window and seeing it but driving parallel to it and not getting rained on.
