    Hi Richard
    I’ve used pastels before and they work well and are good value . I also use weathering powders too.
    Cheers Kev

      Hi Kev! Thanks for the feedback! Have you tried weathering powders? If so, how do they compare? 🤔⁉️😊

    • @medwaypeninsulaMR
      @medwaypeninsulaMR 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I found the pastels are not as thick as the powders but are good for scraping onto the frames and I tend to use the powders for the body of the wagon. To help them stick I usually paint the frames a dirty black /brown to take off the shiny look first as this gives the powders/pastels something to adhere to.
      For the body I will first give it a wash of a black/grey for darker bodies and a lighter colour for lighter bodies this helps to bring out detail and again helps the powders to stick . You dont have to use pre made washes oil paints thinned down work well as do acrylic paints you could also mix in a little pastel/powders to give a thicker consistency . By using a wash unless you will handle them a lot I dont tend to spray will a varnish .
      In my next video I will show a couple of wagons I have weathered and how I did them but of course its only my way of doing it HAHA.
      All the best ...................Cheers Kev

      Thanks for the comment and feedback Kev! Some great advice there! I would definitely be interested in seeing how you do your weathering and how it turns out!
      I did find the pastel powders weren't sticking very well, so think I'll try the paint / wash on it first! 👍😊 Happy Model building! 😊🖌️🎨

    You can also use things that you have in your kitchen: Cinnamon, nutmeg, paprika, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper!

      Hi there! Thanks for the comment!😊😁 The layout is... Well, to be honest it's been on hold for a little while due to the cold weather and lack of time...😔😕 However now I can finally start getting back in the shed in the nice weather, I am planning on going back to it! 😁😄So, keep watching out for upcoming layout updates! 😉🔧🔨👍

    Should we give layer of clear coat after weathering?

    • @DarlingbroughModelRailway
      @DarlingbroughModelRailway  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! Good question! Yes, by adding a spray of matt clear coat, you can lock in the weathering powders, making the model much less likely to wipe off in your hands when handling the model. Its a great point, and one that I should have included in the video! 👍👍💯
