This was from December of 1954. Would be their last TV appearance together. Less than 3 years later, Oliver Hardy had a stroke and eventually died from complications. Best comedy duo ever, and there will never be another one like them. Timelessly funny.

Seems like their sweet, funny characters on film were not at all too far off from their real personalities. At least, that's what we're left with from this and a few other late-era clips. And that's good enough.

They had a special affection for one another, they completed each other. Stan Laurel did not perform after Ollie's death, he was grief striken and the history remembers he continued to write sketches for Laurel and Hardy until his death, just as a token of love and respect for his lost friend. When he past away, his last words were:"I'd rather go skiing than do this".

Lol Oliver downed that drink before leaving! I'm 56 and was very fortunate to have been raised with all the classics! I think I was into these guys and Charlie Chaplin before I was the Stooges! Let me put it this Way. At 13 , I got a kiss on the cheek from Deborah Kerr!

When our boys were young we played all of the films. They absolutely loved them! At five years of age my oldest did a great physical impersonation of Oliver. "The Brats" was their favorite film. Today they are both opera singers and will be performing in Germany this coming fall.

Stan and Ollie's physical gags unfold with a degree of leisure or deliberateness that gives their audience time to appreciate what's happening and to foresee its inevitable outcome, or in some instances to be surprised by an unexpected intervention.

1934 The Live Ghost is one of the best. When the drunken sailor who fell in white paint and the two boys think he is a ghost that has returned to the ship and he says, "Wacha matter?" is tough to beat for the best scene of comedy ever.

For me, it’s the drunken scene in Blotto. Watching the people at the table behind looking so disapprovingly at their antics is just so funny. And when Ollie offers the singer a drink and he spits it out in disgust makes me laugh too!
