Robert mitchum most of been in heaven working with these guys.for years and years and years i love the film called THE LIVE GHOST. Honestly i roll and roll and roll around on the floor with laughter. I know the film off by heart . And still it cracks me up. Nothing ever like this film comedy duo. ( god bless them for eternity )
I love this film, very clean and sharp with Laurel & Hardy at the top of their game. Two kings of comedy. But are my eyes playing tricks on me? Is that a very young Robert Mitchum in the supporting cast! I loved watching Laurel and Hardy movies on the weekends, I don't recall ever seeing this one. Thanks for sharing this outstanding movie.
They were my late father's heroes. He told me he saw them when they came to do their UK tours in 1947 and 1952. He said they didn't disappoint. Just as funny and magical live as they were on film.
L & H WERE THE funniest COMEDY TEAM THAT EVER lived AND OLIVER HARDY DIED FROM A STROKE AT THE AGE OF 65 AND STAN LAUREL died FROM A HEART ATTACK, REST in PEACE YOU GUYS YOU ARE GONE FOREVER BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN 😔
Robert Mitchum was apparently the only real life tough guy in Hollywood, there were a few others ,notably Charles Bronson and Clint Eastward, I once saw Clint impress Muhammad Ali on a speed bag on a talkshow, anyway obviously this was one of Mitche's early appearances in the movies, I like Laural and Hardy much underrated performers in my view, a spot of trivia Muhammad Ali's favourite movie star was Charlton Heston,
That's kind of you to say, thank you. If you ever have time, I like this one better. It's an edit of the Bullfighters. th-cam.com/video/w9VAF_Bvjnw/w-d-xo.html
Did anyone else pick up on the fact... at around13.34 when the meal is brought in for Stan and Ollie.. Stan is not eating his food because the film is in reverse :) he's putting the food back on the plate from his mouth! :) :)
That's the one that Stan was given the most control over. Instead of trying to sneak bits in, he was allowed to direct some scenes, and come up with things in the moment, mainly because they understood that management wasn't paying attention at that point.
Ce film n'a pas été monté dans ça version initiale d exploitation. Dommage car ceux qui vont voir les maîtres de ballets film pour la twenty century fox de 1943 réalisé par Malcom St Claire.
Thanks. Here's one of A Haunting We Will Go. I'll find the files when I have time, and see about putting them up on youtube. Interesting to watch ....But cannot beat the earlier films were they created comedy and situations....as opposed later films when comedy walked up to them they should have not made later films as they are painful to watch
Agreed. The later films were, unfortunately, a different time and context. For the most part, it pained both to do them, but their movies gave relief to people dealing with the realities of war, and were their most financially successful. I'm not able to bring back anything vintage by editing, but I try to subtract the worst elements to help bring out the bits and parts that are closer to their spirit. Thank you for watching.
@@fallandbounce It is a real shame how so many of their later works didn't revolve around Stan and Ollie, as that was what the audience came to see (at least a very large part of the audience, I'd imagine). Stan and Ollie were more than capable of carrying a full length film, and it was just a waste of their superb talents to include them merely as minor subplots. When I choose to watch a L & H film it's almost always from their earlier period.

Stan and Babe hated these later films.
They both rate Jitterbugs highly, and enjoyed The Bullfighters, to a degree. Despite the low budget, Stan had been allowed a bit more freedom by then.

Because it was followed with Grant getting fired. I wanted to keep it moving, though it's fun seeing George take the hit.
