  • One of the most frequently asked questions by the travelers to the Netherlands is ' How to buy a train ticket in the Netherlands?''. Today we give answer to this question by showing you the most convenient ways on how to buy a train ticket in the Netherlands. These 2 ways are,
    1. Buying a empty transport chip card on your arrival at the airport (At Amsterdam airport) and then recharging it at any automatic ticket machines. These automatic ticket machines are located in every train station in the Netherlands. In this way you use the transport chip card as the ticket itself. This is the most convenient way of buying a train ticket in the Netherlands. We explain to you the way of using a transport chip card and how to operate it to recharge at an automatic ticket machine.
    2. The second best way to buy a train ticket in the Netherlands is to go to a ticket counter and ask for a ticket yourself. The friendly NS (Dutch railway) personnel will help you in English and also help you purchase a train ticket for your travel in or outside of the Netherlands. We don't go in to detail about this during this video but we plan to make a video on this subject soon.
After reloading your transport chip card/ purchasing your ticket, you will encounter the automatic gates in every train station. These gates allow you to enter the platforms. We also learn you how to pass through these gates scanning the transport chip card or your train ticket.

Thanks! I also love that it is now possible to simply check-in and check-out using contactless payments on all Dutch public transport, making it easier (and still the same price) as an anonymous ov-chipcard.

Thanks for this very usefull explanations. But one question is still open for me. How to check in a one way ticket without the OV card. As tourist i will buy only two tickets in my next trip in the Netherlands.
    Thanks in advance
