It is, I haven't even gotten there yet but I'd bet he opens a Mox and a Lotus and goes with the Mox because it fits his deck better, this isn't even the current iteration of the MODO cube lol. I was confused for a second when he made the "They forgot to put my power in the pack" joke because he said the same exact joke the last time I watched him draft cube and then I realized after he kept talking that it's the same video haha.
I was so confused at the start of the video, I was thinking "Does he just make the same jokes every time he drafts cube and I didn't realize it because I haven't watched him draft much cube lately?" but it's just because this is an old draft I've already seen from months ago lol.
I think this looks like an incredible Balance deck, outside of the white mana requirement. Reed took Talisman, which is completely reasonable, but the potential of Balance is so so high. He has multiple Planeswalkers and tons of cheap artifacts. The card could wind up being something like an 8-1 or even better, which puts it miles ahead of the best result with Talisman.
Reid I used to watch your cube videos religiously about 10 or so years ago. I credited a lot of my growth in Magic and other games to your insights and how you play. Thank you for being a consistent creator/mentor to so many over the years
Passing the monolith after taking Gadgeteer was a sad sight, think he might just have overlooked the combo because Gadgeteer is newish (or presumably was at time of recording). Still an absolutely awesome draft to watch!
Nobody has played more cube than I have. You should know the name TERROR from all the 8 man queues. I’m the guy who once gave you an earful for playing mono red, I believe I called you a woman. Idk about you, but I saw this deck as an easy UB deck. And I mainly play UB. You had the mana, you had the important black spells like the… F… pay life to wipe the board. And there were some sick black options that made it around like Voidwalker. But because they took out more quality artifacts from this cube and opening up power is similar to winning the lottery, I wouldn’t have gone Urza P1P1. I would have snapped took that Dack P1 P1 and tried to force my early deck into UR sneak and show type thing.
Mox Sapphire is absolutely the pick over lotus in pack 3. If you had gone the high tide route then lotus would have been the pick, but in this mono blue, proactive deck the on-color mox is the second best card you could have opened after time walk with academy and mana drain not far behind.
I would have gone for the Mox as well. Powering Jace out on T1 would be great, of course... But the rest of your 4s not being ideal turn one plays makes me prefer Sapphire. Either way, tough pick, both would have worked. Thanks for the content Reid!
Anyone else remember watching this draft already? Feels like an old repost

Yeah high tide 100% isn't in the current iteration of MTGO vintage cube.

To be fair, I find the joke really funny and would happily hear it again haha
Someone checks to see what scrub passed them a Black Lotus.
Interesting to see an older version of the cube after having played with the current one for so long. Definitely miss a lot of these cards.
Weird yeah
I knew this seemed familiar this is a re-upload from 4 months ago

Also kinan 2 packs later lmao
Came to comment this. I'm pretty disappointed about this
Does CFB not have enough content that they have to upload old videos?
Taking the Mox was discipline, I like it! Not much picks left to utilize the full strength of Lotus.
Nice I found something to fall asleep to for the next two weeks
Heck yes, a Reid draft!
The smirk after the Foundry wheeled :)
The joy of Reid seeing the Thopter Foundry was really sweet
Could have got basalt monolith with gadgeteer and added kozilek back in! Always great drafting and deck-building!

That 7-island game though

Gadgeteer+Basalt Monolith=Infinite Mana
Just grabbing the best blue card in every pack makes me so happy 😍
not taking basalt made me throw my computer
Pick 2 I was even thinking solitude

Yeesh. Passing the Basalt Monolith? I'm not crazy about how you drafted this.
I wouldn't have the strength to pass the lotus but I believe mox is the correct pick.
Mox was the right call for this deck.
I think Sapphire is definitely better than Lotus there. Your 3-4 cmc plays aren't as powerful as having a Mox in play in my opinion
Yeah that's a good point
Didn't you have infinite mana with the gadgeteer if you took monolith??
God damn u rock. Much love
This video is a repost. Send the fresh one!
I have Lotus as the best card in the cube but I'm not Reid Duke so I better study up
But Gadgeteer/Basalt is infinite mana!!! What?!?!?! How do you pass that?
The amount of Jund decks I see LSV draft in vintage cube and now seeing Reid draft LSV’s mono blue wet dream deck 😂
Lotus to get a T1 Jace seemed better imo.
Do you know the odds you see that specific hand
You never pass lotus when u have Jace and urza maybe timewalk but not sapphire
21:30 That wasn't a fresh pack, you just only looked at 2 cards the first time lmao
