Excellent Fr Murr! Wow! My husband is from Portugal and I truly believe what Our Lady of Fatima said that the faith will be preserved there but it seems it will definitely be a remnant.

Fr Murr is so wise! It boggles my mind how at Vatican II the Church forgot everything it learned over 2000 years!!!

    Great information.
Another point to add: please be aware that in our "information age", information/data is power. So the adversary - and his human minions - would be *very eager* to have the details of people's weaknesses openly exposed and known --- and in this way, he could exploit them.
The seal is a very important thing and like Father says, needs to be very carefully guarded; for more reasons than one.
All the more reason to bring screens back too.

Thank you Father for this explanation of the seal. I went to confession in Edinburgh last year and was surprised that the old confessionals, as they used to be, also had a cloth screen so that the priest could not see anything of the penitent. I've heard many say they were uncomfortable in the old confessionals, but for me it made sense and when I can I prefer the old ones and feel much more comfortable in that setting to make a good confession.

It’s crazy we allow this profession to not report sexual abuse of minors. I couldn’t live with myself if someone told me that in a confessional and I had to look at that poor kid every Sunday. This happened in a case we investigated where the abuser told us he told this to his priest. It’s astonishing to hide behind a secrecy code. No other profession is allowed to do this. Jesus is very clear about what happens to people who hurt kids. We had a man confess to a murder to a Baptist preacher. After letting him know Jesus forgives he took him to the police station. Did the right thing. Hopefully we can start holding these priests accountable in abuse cases.

@@mpkropf5062 I wouldn’t trust him to confess a crime. If you abuse kids, murder and such go to a priest. There is 0 biblical verses on keeping sins private. I don’t understand arresting a teacher for not reporting and a priest can just hide behind the church rule. That’s the issue. If someone is hurting someone and you KNOW how is it Christian to not help the person. So yes, stay far away from non Catholic ministers. They don’t play that game

OK Judas. you say so. Fix your own DAMNED sins, which are filthy.

Private confession is not biblical nor historical. Public confession is. Just another thing evolved in the Catholic Church.

How can you be so ignorant of Christianity? How can you be so ignorant of the bible? Are you Muslim?

For good reason! Would you stand up in front of everyone and be completely honest? Would you risk embarrassing your wife or scandalizing your children ?

"I have many things to tell you, but you cannot bear them now" "When the spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all truth" "Whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven"
You have to pay attention to the bible.
