Don't use the China junk! The ebay and amazon remotes do not work! Use only OEM!
Since the Pontiac one has been discontinued, this Holden version is another option. This is the same exact genuine GM FOB...just has the Holden logo instead of the Pontiac one. Replaces original GM# 92123129.
This is just the remote. You can transfer your key and screws or order a whole new kit (LMP1231).

For those that are curious, this was with an OEM Australian branded fob and $35 at my local locksmith to duplicate my worn original.
After the third consecutive honk did your light go off right away or did it flash constantly faster and faster before I went off? And did you have your hood and door closed does that make a difference?
@@cjholsclaw3123 I don't recall on the light, but I did have the door and hood closed, I think they spec that in some other literature I read.
I did this, and you gotta be VERY precise with the time limits, and my key fob is working 💯 i did this 3 years ago

This video is spot on. Its important you have a ($50+) oem replacement key and not a eBay knockoff that will never work. You'll have to have a spare 25 min to set it up.
My man you doing Gods work with this video. Worked on the first try. I got an OEM fob and it did exactly what it was suppose to do. I dont know how the aftermarkets would do though.

Obviously you must have a good car battery installed. This worked perfect. After the second 10 minute duration the horn beeps twice ... it is very fast ... one after the other such that you may think it's only one beep. This is the same with step three. The beeps are very fast in succession ... one after the other, but there are 3 very fast and sharp beeps.
If your fob does not have the Pontiac logo, GM part number, or FCC ID molded into the back of the fob it is likely an aftermarket part. We've not had any luck with those. If you buy a genuine GM part number with the Pontiac logo and FCC ID molded in on the back, and it does not work. Try the programming instructions in this video again. Otherwise the non serviceable battery in the new genuine GM fob you purchased may be dead.

Ordered a new OEM fob from Amazon and followed the above video. Worked PERFECTLY! Even for an "idiot" like me, it was very easy to do.
Did your security light after the third beep start blinking rapidly and then eventually go off? Or did you turn the key off and back on again until it went off?
your video saved my life, bought the fob at the dealership and avoided paying a hundred bucks or so towing my car there and having them program it. worked first time.

Does anyone know how to turn the horn chirp on fo when you hit lock button on fob it beeps?? I'm trying to program a new fob and my horn is turned off if I can just turn it on I can finish programming the key and drive my car again. This sucks bad not bring able to drive ot after fixing up the entire car and replacing every bushing on it from front to back.
@@christophermaynard8375 Hello Chris. You need to get into programming mode to make changes. Here’s a video that will help you see how to do it and there’s a link to order the special cable and where to find the free software to download.
@@armondtodd6969 Thank you so much I didn't get a video you sent but I've got the vz clustermod cable on its way. I was told that it was in the secret menu but haven't found it yet. Soon as I get the cable for clustermod I'm hoping I can turn the horn chirp back on and the lights flash.
Does this also crank the car?

I've bought three Holden keys off of eBay and they worked correctly each time.

@@charliesoriano3038 I searched for them on Google and went to the results on one of the eBay.au results. They were about $50.00 each and I chose the one with the lowest shipping. One wore out at about 40k miles of use. If you are trying to get it to work and seems like it is working, but the key is just not working after, then the key is likely no good.
How do we prevent the alarm from sounding when we open the door and trying to put the key in the ignition? I just tried to program a key fob but couldn't because the alarm was screaming at me.

Tested this out while the car was running and driving and it still works just look dumb with the car honking at you
i just got new key my old one stopped working. i hope this works so i can drive my car. without hitting nlock 2x with the fob my car wont start
What if horn never beeps? I’ve tried it 4x already & nothing happens. Key fob was used but was told I could reprogram it to my car. I switched the metal key to the new-ISH fob. I have a new car battery.
@max Performance hey man my key fob stopped working so i have a legit holdin key comming in the mail my ? Is my Problem I am going to have f is normally when I got into the vehicle. I would have to hit lock and unlock in order to even start the vehicle due to the security system. Now that being said, the actual keypad that goes into the Ignition earlier today. When you turn it to the all position, the alarm steady goes off. Now my question is when the key comes in the mail. And I do this stop as it is a legit GM holding key. Should I have any issues because of my security system? Normally with the old key. If you do not hit the lock and unlock button, the car would start 42 seconds and automatically shut off

I know this is an old video but I'm struggling bad with programming my new keys in got my GTO. How do I turn the horn chirp on so I know when the 10mins are up each time. The dealership turned it all off the lights and horn when I lock my car and I can't figure out how to change it back at all. Please help me out if you can. It would be greatly appreciated for sure!!! Before you turn your key on hold the mode button down for 10 seconds and itll pop up a secret menu and scroll through it looming for horn honking noises. You can turn them back on that way. Struggled with it for a while

my key starts my car without the battery, im guessing trhe little metal contact allows this, so does that mean i can program my key without the battery as well?

I did this also about three times and it did not work for my 2006 gto. How would I know if the battery in the FOB is not good
You know the key works and is compliant with your car when you insert it and the security light goes off finally. You have to essentially replace the whole fob if the battery is dead unless you Dremel the casing apart and are good at soldiering a button cell in. The Holden key looks to be unnecessarily dealership serviced to fix vs other gm products.
So my pontiac ‘06 doesnt make any sounds when i turn the key. Does not turn on. Do you think this would work? If not does anyone have any idea what it might be? A code p1682 pops up on my brother car reader.
Will this only work with oem key or this can be done using aftermarket key?

That's cheap for key fobs. Same one here through a locksmith is $130 and from Holdens ( GM ) even more. We get ripped off with everything over here

Also, I went to Ace Hardware to lazer-cut the key. They only charged me 8 bucks. If you don't have a Ace Hardware check your local hardware store first before paying a locksmith $$$.

how many keys can be programmed to the car? I have 2 that work but the rubber buttons came off and the case is to much of a hassle to open thanks to the adhesive they seal them with
+Garry Burdette As man as you want as far as I'm aware.You can replace just the buttons but it is a pain.
I got one beep two beeps and three beeps and then the security light started flashing rapidly with the key in the on position should I wait until the light turns off or turn it off and turn it back on and then wait for the light to go off a fourth time? Also should the doors and hood be closed for it to work??

You can not reprogram a key from another car once the key fob is programmed to these cars it's programmed for life there's no way of reprogramming a used key to another car!!

+Max Performance: The locksmith was able to cut the lock, and the car starts with it, but the remotes didn't sync up.
If I open the locked car with the new key (the alarm will go off), and then I try to start the car, to disable the anti-theft, but it only runs for like 2 seconds, and then it shuts down, all while the anti-theft horn is blaring.
I have an appointment with a dealer this Friday. Hopefully they can properly program it.
I believe it is a GM key. It had GM stamped on the metal part.

I purchased two keys from eBay and they don't work the horn never beeps and there is no Pontiac symbol on the back of it do you think it's these keys that are crap or the battery in them
Probably the keys are junk if they don't have the emblem on them. Have to be careful that they are the correct frequency. AUS and USA use different frequencies.
I would only trust oem replacements. Given how much of a design fail they are that force naive ppl to the dealer for a key. The case is molded shut and the batteries are soldered to the board. My chevy key has an opening clamshell and the 2032 batteries pop in and out.

It's definitely aftermarket. Problem with those is that they may have a different frequency or they just may not work. Always trust a GM fob with these cars.

Don't buy cheap $40 fobs off of eBay. They don't work. I learned the hard way. Buy the real GM certified fobs which cost $80. You can buy them from GTOG8TA website.

I thought you'd need two original keys to do this. Only one key needed then thief only needs one key to steal your car

Yes all the GM ones have the battery and should be ready for programming.
Thank you for this, worked perfect on an 04 GTO. Saved me over 250$ I would have spent towing the car which has no tow points and the dealership wanted 50$ for the programming.
Alright so will this fob work if it would be the only fob available? cause the fob i have right now the transmitter does not work, so if i unlock the car with just the key the alarm will go off and wont start, can i use this fob to program the car and my normal key?
+ShaneM44 No you will probably need to take it to the dealer then. You need another FOB to program a 2nd.
